  1. Feels like a really important run to try and strand at third base here.
  2. Luis’ brother hit a home run for the Orioles tonight, [sarcasm]maybe we traded for the wrong Urias.[/sarcasm]
  3. Glad Urias is in the game for defense, definitely has the strongest arm of the options for 3B.
  4. This Hader decision is strange. You have to win 3 out of 4, so increase your probability to be able to do that.
  5. Speaking of his change up, here are the best pitches this season by run value (per Daren Willman). The stat obviously favors starters who throw more innings. Three Brewers in the top ten.
  6. Hopefully he’ll be fine, but that was a long break between innings for Williams after coming in and throwing just 10 pitches.
  7. From Craig Coshun... MLB switched the format within the hour, Brewers home team for Gm2 I guess MLB really is making this thing up on the fly this year.
  8. On today's Effectively Wild podcast they responded to an email from a Phillies fan asking if their team’s percentage of blown leads in games they lost this season was on pace for the major league record (Phillies have had the lead in around 65% of their losses this season). Well it turns out the major league record for the highest percentage of leads in games it lost goes to the 2017 Milwaukee Brewers who led in 50 of the 76 games they lost that season (65.8%). That team missed the playoffs by ONE game. Here is a link to the entire spreadsheet of teams that held the highest percentage of leads in games they lost: Blown Leads Spreadsheet
  9. In case you want to start dreaming up and discussing ways for the 2021 Brewers roster to be improved here is a thread to discuss players that will be free agents this winter. List to review the upcoming free agent class: 2021 Free Agent Tracker (FanGraphs) FanGraphs also did an article explaining some details of their Free Agent Tracker (Link). Additional players will be added to this pool as non-tenders occur, and teams or players decline/buyout option years on contracts. As mentioned in the second link, some likely examples of team options being declined include Chris Archer, Jake Arrieta, Brett Gardner, Corey Kluber, and Carlos Santana while both Nick Castellanos and J.D. Martinez could opt out of their current deals. If those things occur they would obviously become free agents.
  10. In addition to having to use up the bullpen a bit last night, Devin Williams warmed up in the pen when the Brewers put together a “threat” in the 9th inning. I’m sure he’s fine to throw today when needed, but certainly not ideal to have the start of the 5-game series play out the way it did.
  11. Someone mentioned yesterday that the Brewers are basically playing the Cardinals in a 5-game playoff series, and based on the standings that is looking like a very accurate assessment. Likely have to win 3 of the next 4 games to get in. Pitching matchups for the remainder of the week... Suter vs. Flaherty Lindblom vs. Ponce de Leon Woodruff vs. Wainwright Anderson vs. TBD
  12. Josh Lindblom: Batter (Cardinals) vs Pitching Stats Daniel Ponce de Leon: Batter (Brewers) vs Pitching Stats
  13. Brent Suter: Batter (Cardinals) vs Pitching Stats Jack Flaherty: Batter (Brewers) vs Pitching Stats
  14. For better or worse, to this point I have watched until the bitter end of all 55 games this season. I’m going to bed early for the first time, so hopefully I wake up to see the offense having shown some life in the 9th.
  15. In Brewers alumni news, Travis Shaw is officially in the playoffs with the Blue Jays and Jesus Aguilar just hit a home run as the Marlins extended their lead over the Braves to 4-0 in the 7th inning.
  16. I do appreciate what you’re saying, but let me offer a brief counterpoint...
  17. 2020 Brewers baseball in one screenshot...
  18. I'd also like to add that I can handle missing the playoffs too, but not at the hands of the freaking Cardinals... I'd rather lose out to the Cubs than the Cardinals. Another part that’s bugging me is that next year’s draft is absolutely loaded with elite talent near the top. The Brewers are sort of out of the running for a great pick (#12 or #13 is probably the best they could do), so if they were going to waste away the pandemic shortened season with an anemic offense I wish the prize was going to be a little better.
  19. I still haven’t been able to find an exit velocity on Carlson’s home run (its not showing up on Savant). It couldn’t have been very good, it reminded me a lot of the fly out home run Woodruff gave up in Detroit.
  20. I can handled missing the playoffs this year, but I’m going to be really annoyed when they miss them by one game or by losing out on a tie breaker.
  21. I would associate a sudden decrease in velocity with a likely injury, and not the light brightness.
