  1. I agree with everything in this post. If we are to trade for a starter, I really like Happ and Ross as options for us. I don’t think I realized just how impressive of an age-35 campaign J.A. Happ is having while pitching in the AL East. Through 82.2 IP he has a 1.065 WHIP and a 10.2 K/9! And it would certainly be nice to add another left-handed starter to the rotation. [sarcasm]Unfortunately being raised a Cubs fan disqualifies Happ from further consideration.[/sarcasm] I didn't realize how good Happ's been either. I just thought of him as a finesse lefty who doesn't move the needle much, but he's actually been pretty good the last couple years. Very good against lefties too which comes in handy against good lefty-heavy lineups in our division like the Cubs and Reds.
  2. I generally wouldn't encourage rushing a guy like that but Hiura might be an exception with how he just rakes at every level a la Braun. If he keeps hitting like this, it's gotta be a consideration.

  4. Why did Counsell bring in Jeffress in the fifth inning instead of Hader? One run lead with multiple tough lefties due up and guys on base already, that should be classic Josh Hader time.
  5. Yeah, I guess I was curious what other people thought of her.. I mean like SeaBass said Davey Nelson was bad and everyone knew it, Augustine is bad and everyone knows it, etc. I haven't seen much talk about Sophia Minnaert on here good or bad.
  6. Wow, tough crowd... Certain things bother other people on here like the way BA says "Pina", LePay's "break-even pitch", well mine is when Sophia Minnaert comes on the air to say something like, "I talked to Craig Counsell and he said certainly Brandon Woodruff pitched really well yesterday. He said he has to improve his fastball location though. He said certainly he deserves to make another start. He said he does have very good stuff. He said he's a young, improving pitcher. He said he said he said he said" Yeah she speaks good Spanish and that's good and all, yeah she's better than Telly Hughes, wow that's setting the bar pretty high. I guess instead of having your own opinions on here you gotta go with the groupthink and only post things like "WHY IS ERIC SOGARD PLAYING TODAY OH MY GOD"
  7. Totally agree with this
  8. She's pretty bad. Doesn't she have a boss or something that critiques her and tells her that she says the words "he said" a million times too many each segment?
  9. Wow, that's kind of a steal.. this was one of the few guys still available I would've liked us to sign.
  10. Addison Reed, Tony Watson, Oh from the Cardinals.. I'd be fine with any of them.
  11. Swarzak is a risk to me because he always seems to be working up in the zone, with both his fastball AND slider. He got away with it a lot of the time, but I wouldn't be surprised to see him regress just based off that alone.
  12. Another guy I would've loved us to sign...
  13. I don't remember the Brewers ever scoring off this guy; his slider is nasty.
  14. What does he do that is so annoying? -Whenever we play the Pirates at PNC Park, he says "Alleganie River" like a million times a game. That would be a good drinking game, take a drink every time he says it, you'll be wasted halfway through the game. Like, we get it, you know the name of the river that's next to the stadium.. I can't speak for other people, but I couldn't care less about some stupid river when I'm watching a baseball game. -Have you ever heard him say the word "amateur"? It's like nails on a chalkboard. -He's a big-time homer. All he does all game long, is praise Brewer after Brewer with unneccesary praise that gets very old fast. - He compares players/praises players based off old-fashioned stats like RBIs, errors, etc.
  15. I'm a little surprised at all the love for BA on here. I find him to be really annoying, it has nothing to do with him being "boring", I don't even find him boring at all. Just annoying.
  16. Shouldn't Burnes be higher? Low 1 ERA in AA is impressive, he should be above everyone besides MAYBE Brinson.
  17. His career AAA line is .311/.391/.822 in Fresno/Sacto Rivera's line is: .232/.264/.577 in Colorado Springs Rivera is about as close to him as Travis Shaw is to Kris Bryant. Was just gonna post something similar to this. He's a clear upgrade over Yadiel Rivera.. looking at his fangraphs page, his last three full years at AAA have been good offensively and in a small sample size, they really like his defense at SS. I wish he was a couple years younger, but still, he seems to be a nice little player.
  18. I never really heard of Eric Thames; when I heard we signed him, I thought we were getting the ol' Tiger Marcus Thames.
  19. To be fair, Counsell did change his batting stance to a more traditional one, one of the last years of his career. Better late than never I guess.
  20. In terms of in-game managing and such, I think Roenicke was even worse than Macha.
  21. Wow, definitely a good read. I gained a little respect for Lucroy after reading that. I just don't get why they wouldn't assure Lucroy he'd be the starting catcher next year. He's clearly a better player than Yan Gomes...
  22. I wouldn't think they could fit Braun. Werth and Harper are the Corner OFs. Revere is CF along with the talented but growing pained Michael Taylor. Werth has 21mil for next season and I'd expect 10&5 rights so you couldn't take him as a salary exchange for Braun. Maybe a 3team deal where he's still being moved to a Contender. The other problem is Ryan Zimmerman, who has fallen off drastically and stuck at 1b to have a sub .700OPS for that position and 3/48Million guaranteed after this season to still fulfill. With Scherzer and Strasburg making big bucks I can't see them being able to add on Braun's contract. The only thought process would be to do this for the rest of the season, and trade Harper this offseason for major prospects, Leaving Braun to take over Harper's place. Letting someone else deal with the headache of Boros and signing Harper in 3years as a FA. You'd still have the hurdle of Braun agreeing to the trade with Washington on his no-Trade list Have Werth and Braun in the corners and Harper in CF. Defense wouldn't be great, but it would drastically improve their offense. Only question is can they afford Braun's salary?
  23. Seems like Colin Walsh to me, albeit one that can't switch hit. Not that there's anything wrong with that, I thought Walsh was a bit underrated.
