  1. Unfortunately I had the pleasure to listen to national sports talk radio today lambaste this deal from the Brewers side. Their angle was that Yelich could be just average by the time the extension kicks in and basically that the Brewers had no reason to do this. I am sure that if the Yankees had signed Yelich to the same deal (9 years, 215 million) that they would be talking about how many World Series titles they would be winning in that time frame.
  2. This is devastating news. I want to watch the Bucks and the Brewers. Thats literally all I want to watch. Anyone have any advice?
  3. Re: Hader You almost need to hope for the perfect storm like the Yankees had when they traded Chapman to the very good and very desperate Cubs to land Gleyber. I’m thinking the Dodgers. Imagine a scenario in late July where Brewers are .500, Dodgers are killing it and Jensen goes down for some reason. You hope to trade Hader then for a haul or at least someone who projects realistically to be a Gleyber Torres type. That would be ideal, and it isn’t out of realm of possibility that Brewers are .500, Hader is best Reliever in baseball and Dodgers are running away with the west...just need poor performance by Jensen or an injury and the perfect storm may happen.
  4. I went last night. They played one good period of hockey. The rest of the game was about as bad as I can remember. The badgers stink that’s for sure.
  5. Josh Hader won the NL Relief pitcher of the year award the last two years. He was an All-Star the last two years. Our GM called him the best reliever in the game. He is putting up strikeout numbers per nine that rival all-time bests in all of baseball. He filed for a tiny little bit more than Papelbon got 10 years ago. What the heck are the Brewers thinking? Is is possible for the arbitrator to give Hader MORE than he asked for? It's a 100% slam dunk winning case for Hader.
  6. Saw Episode 9 on Xmas Eve. I like/enjoy Star Wars, but I am not a crazy fan. My overall take on 9 was that it was good, leaning toward okay, but good. To me the movie was boring, but the ending was satisfying enough. I agree that the entire 7-9 trilogy would have been better had one person written the entire thing, but each episode was enjoyable enough on their own.
  7. TIL that Eric Sogard was a ball boy for the Brewers way back in 2013. Nice play by him.
  8. I was at the July 4th game. Maybe it was just because I saw it live, but that catch was an all-time defensive moment for me.
  9. Is the guarantee really only 17.5 million? 500k signing bonus 7 million in 2020 10 million in 2021 Gets tricky in 2022 though. If he doesnt get the 550 PAs then 2022 remains a club option and the contract either becomes 2/19.5 or 3/29.5 If he does get the 550 PAs and it becomes a mutual option and the Brewers exercise their portion but he declines or "opts" out I dont see how the 2m buyout gets paid.
  10. They should listen and it should be a ***ton, so good on DS.
  11. Josh Hader is about the become very expensive. I have no problems with paying him what he had earned, I love having him, however, his trade value will NEVER be higher. I say listen and someone just might blow you away and you take it.
  12. Saw that. I am sure he will get a NRI somewhere over the winter. Could see him in Japan or Korea as well.
  13. I agree with this. It might be 60-7 the next time they play. I am hopeful at this point that the Minnesota game is close, to be honest.
  14. on the way home from hockey practice as I was shuttling 3 boys home in the weekly carpool, they were complaining about their coach who is approximately 45 years old. In their recitation to each other as to how annoying the coach was for whatever he was making the boys do one of the boys said he was like "Ok, Boomer" and I was completely annoyed but kept my mouth shut as there is no reason to fight that battle. So I think kids are just using it as a comeback/insult toward any adult in a position of authority or power over them (parent, teacher, coach, politician, etc)
  15. where and when will this stuff be available to purchase? I am not one to buy or wear jerseys, but my kids do enjoy the jersey-shirt and I would like something with the cream/new font/logo on it as a shirt or something.
  16. To all the haters and chronic complainers, sorry to say, but I think they did a great job with the new logo and jerseys. Time to get back to complaining about announcers maybe?
  17. That sounds awful, but these 5 were all the same age (about 7 mos now) and the one that was killed was the leader of the flock. Plus, the head wasn’t just off, but not in the run or anything.
  18. Half inch hardware cloth all the way around. Whatever came on came over the top.
  19. First, i put a complete roof on yesterday and double checked all the chicken wire and hardware cloth. A few more details, questions... The back of the coop, where you open to get to the nesting box was open, which could indicate something initially took place in the coop itself (an altercation that would have bumped it open perhaps?). However, I found no feathers or blood in the coop at all. The chicken looks like she was killed where her body was, which is why I thought owl perhaps. If it were well after dark I am relatively confident they would have been in the coop. My chicken that was killed though, being a bit of a busy body would from time to time be a bit of a straggler getting in, but lately all 5 of them have been in the coop on the roosting perch when I put them to bed. Raccoons are complete dicks, but I also thought they would at least try to kill/maim more than 1 if they attacked. I have read however that they do kill just one on occasion.
  20. Good morning BF.netters. If anyone here keeps chickens you know the challenges of keeping them safe from predators. I got 5 four-month old pullets from a friend in early August. I bought them a larger coop from Tractor Supply and built a 24x10 foot run all around it with 6 foot walls. The walls are covered top to bottom with hardware cloth and chicken wire. I have welded wire flaring out from the base of the run (which is made of 4x4 treated lumber) about 2-3 feet as a predator apron. Up until yesterday I did NOT have a roof of any sort. I had come into the weekend with plans to finish the roof on Sunday (which I did), I had the joists all cut and in my garage, I was just waiting for good weather and an additional person to help me hang them. Unfortunately Saturday brought the beginning of hockey season for my family, an away game about an hour away. We had to leave at 3 to get there, I anticipated being home before 9. I did not want them without food and water from 3pm until morning which they are let out between 7-8am. I had been putting the chickens (and ducks, I have 2 pekins as well) to bed, obviously earlier and earlier as the season changes, and it has gotten to be about 6:00 or 6:30 pm, but when I put them to bed the ducks are in their house and the chickens roosting in their coop, so all I do is close the doors and latch them. I stupidly believed they would all do that and sit semi-protected in their houses until I got home to close them up. The weather driving home Saturday night from Milwaukee was miserable, driving rain non-stop and awful visability. We didnt get home until 9:30. When I went out the put them to bed I was devastated to find one my my chickens, a cinnamon queen who had been my best layer and the obvious alpha of the flock dead in the middle of the run. She was the sweetest and friendliest chicken and would greet me at the door and hound me until I picked her up. I did not examine her body for trauma, as I was too upset, but the bottom line is that her body looked more or less well intact, however she was missing her head, the head was gone, not in the coop or run. All of the other chickens and both ducks were in the chicken run. The chickens in their coop (which was still open and unlocked) and the ducks just standing in the run (the door to their house had been left closed inadvertantly) and nobody else had so much as a scratch on them. My research has lead me to identify many possibilities. First, the ground predators. 3 I can think of off the top of my head. 1) Racoon 2) possum 3) weasel. I know we have the first two in our neighborhood, which is on the outskirts of town (oshkosh) and in a heavily wooded subdivision. I have never seen a weasel out here but I am sure they are out there. I do not believe any of these predators killed my chicken, as it sounds like all 3 would have done much more damage to the rest of the flock. I do know that whatever came in, came over the top and into the run as their is no digging of any sort (predator screen prevents that and I checked yesterday) and none of the chicken wire or hardware cloth was compromised. Air predators - we have tons of hawks, bald eagles, and large owls in all of these enormous trees. Obviously I do not know the time that she was killed, but as I said, her body was not picked apart at all, there were a small amount of feathers near her body and her head was gone and missing from the coop. My research and hypothosis was that this was an owl attack as I think a hawk would have picked her apart more. I put my roof on yesterday, as planned, but one day too late obviously, and I know whatever killed my chicken will be back for more and I want to figure out what it was so I can make sure the run is sufficiently protected going forward. Thanks for reading.
  21. I too am the proud owner of a Bill Hall pinstripe jersey. Along with Ben Sheets, one of my favorite players of this century. So glad we resigned him. I say we just add him to the 40 man for the rest of the year and see what he's got left. Put a pink bat in his hand and let the magic happen. No more ridiculous than the premise in Mr. 3000.
  22. Hey, so changing the subject....what is the best way to get tickets for the home opener? I can't handle the fees that Stub Hub and Seat Geek add, is there another place I can check where people post their tickets without fees? Thanks.
  23. You must be a lot of fun at parties.
  24. Because losing that big of an asset for nothing at all is devastating to the near future after he does leave, particularly for a small market team. So we should trade him now for another team's version of Lewis Brinson, Monte Harrison, Isan Diaz and Jordan Yamamoto? What the hell is even the point of acquiring anyone when, if we dont compete for a world series immediately and at every moment of every season we all want to trade our All Stars and rebuild.
  25. I usually discount trade proposals that involve guys teams just signed as Free Agents a few weeks ago
