There are a lot of quality guys on your list only making league minimum. Brewers losing games but making money. Think there is any chance trading a future starter for a quality bat? I would love to see someone picked up or developed to be a 3rd baseman. Having utility guys play 3rd isn't the ideal situation. I won't understand the Fields pickup if they are just going to release him.
I think the reason they called up Thornburg is to see how he performs. Based on what he does through the end of the year will give the Brewers something to think about come next year. I like Thornburg but velocity has dropped, doesn't mean he still can't pitch. Most of the pitchers at Colorado Springs have high numbers but the number of home runs (16) Thornburg has given up in 88.1 innings pitched was a little concerning and he gave up (3) homers in 13 innings in the Majors.
If you follow any AAA games, he's one of the best defensive cf in the league and is a better defender than Braun, Davis and Peterson in the OF. Let him play full time and see what he's got compared to 1 or 2 inning stints and pinch hitting.
I have watched enough of Davis this year. He is the worst defensive outfielder in the majors and has no arm...its amazing they play him. I just don't see where his great...ok not so great hitting makes up for horrible defense.
I saw the box showed 3 runs earned but if you go to MLB Stats and baseball reference they show 4 runs earned. Strange...and the brewers website stats show 4 runs earned.
Anyone have any idea why Cravy was charged with 4 runs on the MLB and baseball reference stat lines? His runner that was inherited by another pitcher was thrown out at the plate. Just wondering if there is some kind of strange rule regarding this...
Problem with trading gomez and Parra is that its going to leave us with worst defensive outfield in MLB. Would be nice to get at least one speedy outfielder in return.
Was at the game and Davis cost us one maybe two runs...worst arm in major leagues. Maybe he has some sort of arm injury....just speculating or has he always had a horrible arm. Base runner caught off first didn't help things. Cravy hurt himself one inning with a two out walk that eventually scored. One thing that bugs me is Cravy threw 104 pitches last monday...30-40 on friday...and then starts on tuesday...multiple 3 day rests. Colorado Springs was going to skip his next start to give him some rest before the callup.
My semester rant...I have seen many so called MLB prospects over the last 7 years come and go by the wayside. Dominguez has a new lease on life. Maybe he can turn it around...I give it a 10% chance...maybe up to 20% if the winds blowing out in Colorado Springs. Not sure if Schafer should be on 40 man but he's currently the best defensive outfielder at AAA for the Brewers and I would hate to see him go unless they can replace him with like speed. Also he is picking up his hitting lately. Personally I like speed in the outfield as many teams have and we don't. Still upset D'vontrey was released...wasn't the best hitter but his D made a difference in many games over the course of a season.. I still think the Wang experiment was a joke. Maybe the Pirates overpaid for a guy that was never going to make the bigs and since they did, the brewers thought they were getting a legitimate prospect and getting a great steal at the same time. How many times have the Brewers overpaid a pick only to release him later?
For all of those out there that don't think we have a 3rd base prospect...Rivera is playing 3rd tonight for skysox and made 3 plays no mlb brewer can make.
