  1. Increased amount of time going over video with the MLB team pitching coach. Throwing bullpens under the watchful eye of the pitching coach & bullpen coach. Time to get acclimated
  2. Scooter Gennett's Splits in AAA ball this year: vs RHP .317/.370/.769 vs LHP .266/.298/.639 Makes sense to platoon him at the MLB level, at least this year
  3. Was surprised to see that Hunter Morris has such dramatic splits this season in AAA: vs RHP .278/.373/.956 8 HR's, 7 Doubles in 108 AB's vs LHP .197/.264/.582 2 HR's, 2 Doubles in 66 AB's http://www.milb.com/milb/stats/stats.jsp?sid=milb&t=p_pbp&pid=519051 Granted, that is still a small sample, but it makes me wonder if he'll be strictly a platoon guy in MLB Anyone know what his splits were in Huntsville AA ball in 2012? edited to point out that I put his numbers as BA/OBP/OPS
  4. If Braun got suspended 100 games, admitted his guilt and admitted he'd been lying to fans the last few years, then all of a sudden that really changes the fan perception and would open the windows for the Brewers to trade Braun. Of course that might really lessen his trade value, too Now, I don't really see that happening, at all, but stranger things have happened.
  5. This article seems to think that Aramis Ramirez is the biggest hitting prize among potential players available at the trade deadline, and mentions the Braves & Reds as possible trade partners. The article also says that Gallardo will be one of the top pitchers available. Is it possible that for once Brewerfan.net is actually underrating Brewers players? http://baseballhotcorner.com/mlb-trade-talks-possible-players-who-might-be-on-the-move/
  6. Yes, good call on Weeks. A hitter whose OBP is 90-100 points higher than his BA is what I personally look for. Unfortunately in Weeks' case it still is only a .347 career OBP though, but yes you are right about Weeks
  7. ESPN is once again at fault for dragging players' names through the mud without the investigation process and possible arbitration process running it's course. And I strongly believe that MLB is complicit in using ESPN as it's mouthpiece for this dirty work I will continue to believe Braun's side of this story unless compelling evidence causes me to believe otherwise. The testimony of a dirt-bag drug dealer attempting to talk his way out of bankruptcy and jail is not likely to be compelling to me. And all of this is further evidence as to why I believe Bud Selig is an absolutely horrible commissioner.
  8. That is a Doug Melvin kind of guy. A free swinger with pop. Besides Prince Fielder who have we had in recent memory who was a high OBP type of guy?
  9. I would love to have Boegaerts or Middlebrooks but I doubt Aoki/Gallardo and a prospect would be enough to get one of them. (But then again I never thought we could get Jean Segura for Greinke either) I think the Red Sox really like Middlebrooks alot. The Red Sox would have a pretty big hole at 3B this year if they traded him and they want to win now. Bogaerts is still just 20 years old and in AA ball and has only played SS not 3B so he's not likely ready to help in a playoff run this year Now if you make Aramis Ramirez the centerpiece of a trade with the Red Sox for Middlebrooks things could get more interesting
  10. Awesome. Can we maybe get the ghosts to visit the opposing team locker room and dugout at Miller Park too?
  11. My schedule is pretty busy because of my job and also being a Little League coach but in general I would love to attend this.....
  12. I think Jim Gantner is a better comparison. I'm optimistically thinking that Gantner's career year of 1982 .295/.335/.704 with 4 HR's would be Gennett's career average.....
  13. I think that is a big part of it And it might simply be that the Brewers' scouts and coaches do not think that Weeks can consistently hit RHP anymore
  14. Having Weeks hit LHP exclusively is a good way to increase his trade value. He'll do better and will show a contending team that he can still hit MLB pitching.
  15. Roenicke says that Weeks & Gennett will be used in a platoon. The good news about that is that even in this horrible season of 2013 so far for Weeks, he has a .333 OBP vs LHP. Weeks is also hitting .267/.313 overall in the last 14 days, so hopefully he is turning it around and the platoon will help
  16. Or we should take what Melvin says in public or the media about anyone in the Brewers organization with a grain of salt Personally I'm a big Scooter Gennett fan, so I'm excited to see his debut. No idea if it is the "right" move at this time. I suppose it depends on how they use him, how much they use him and any other corresponding moves Does seem weird that on a team full of middle infielders we got rid of one infielder and added 2 more while getting rid of a pitcher Must be more moves coming. Maybe someone is willing to overpay for Ramirez & Weeks
  17. Considering his MLB stats, he certainly looks like a better option at 1B than Betancourt, or at least a better option on the MLB roster than Gonzalez http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/k/kaaihki01.shtml
  18. If the season ended today the Brewers would have the #3 overall pick in the 2014 draft. That is something to be excited about
  19. It is easy to forget that Peralta is just 24 years old and has only started 16 MLB games in his career. He has electrifying stuff and the Brewers should be very very patient with him over the long haul
  20. Jorge De La Rosa waves hello He wasn't a product of the farm system. I stand corrected, you are right. Forgot he was in Boston's system before coming to us. Interesting that he was a Diamondback for 3 days before being traded again. He did seem to regress when in the Brewers system (both in AAA and in MLB) and had his strongest seasons both before and after he was in the Brewers organization. However yes he was not a product of the Brewers' system coming up
  21. yeah Ackley was the #2 overall pick in the MLB draft for good reason, he has some great talent. Apparently much of his hitting problems has been his approach at the plate and is mental more so than a lack of ability. I would never count guys like that out, especially at Ackley's age
  22. Braun has a clause in his contract that allows him to approve or decline any trades. He is heavily invested in the city of Milwaukee and enjoys being the face of the franchise. I seriously doubt the Brewers would trade Braun, but even if they wanted to it might be very difficult to do so. Never say never, but I think it is less likely than Marco Estrada winning a Cy Young award, at least for the forseeable future. Braun gave the Brewers a pretty sizeable discount in order to sign on for longterm. He makes quite a bit less than most All-Star/MVP level players in MLB. If he was going to be traded, he may want to renegotiate a new contract with a different team which would further complicate matters I really don't see it happening
  23. Thank you in advance for posting it. I shudder to think of the general theme. Is it along the lines of "we feel we are better than this, we've just had some players under-perform, we'll get better"
