  1. Sigh of relief for me. Low-OBP guy who has never played 1B before? I'd rather roll the dice with Vogelbach.
  2. 1/$7M seems incredibly cheap, doesn't it? I guess strict platoon guys really cannot command much on the market. Good move for the Cubs, unfortunately.
  3. Hard to get excited about Rosario at 1B. I guess he's more dependable than Vogelbach.
  4. How much of a return is that? Wish the Brewers would have been in on Matz if cheap.
  5. Sign Justin Turner for 3/$45 million Sign C.J. Cron for 1/$5 million No significant trades CF Cain LF Yelich 2B Hiura 3B Turner 1B Vogelbach/Cron (platoon) RF Garcia C Narvaez/Pina SS Urias/Arcia SP Woodruff SP Burnes SP Lindblom SP Houser SP Lauer/Peralta
  6. Turner is the best hope we have for an impact player this offseason. I would easily give him a third year even writing that off in advance as a sunk cost. 3/$45M would probably do it, unless the Dodgers end up agreeing to a third year in which case he is staying in Los Angeles.
  7. There might not be a player in the entire major leagues who it would make less sense to trade right now than Burnes. He clearly has ace upside but no team is going to give you an ace package for him (or even an above-average starter package for him) going into 2021. Obviously made up by a White Sox fan, but hey there's nothing else out there about the Brewers right now so I get the three page thread.
  8. It's probably just my own selection bias, but does it ever end with player "values" wildly oscillating based solely on whether they happen to be Brewers players or players of a chosen genius franchise like the Cubs? Luis Urias is considered an elite prospect... until he's traded to the Brewers and then he is chopped liver. Zach Davies is a middling piece from a Brewers starting rotation that is supposed to be a laughing stock... and now that he is on the Cubs sites are declaring that he will "look good alongside Kyle Hendricks as the Cubs’ one-two in 2021." Because of <70 IP with a 3.88 FIP in 2020, or because he's no longer a Brewer? The Rodney Dangerfield of MLB franchises - no respect!
  9. No question that we deserved to beat the Dodgers two years ago and got screwed over. Karmic justice means we are now entitled to beat the Dodgers with a playoff roster that features David Freitas, Ryon Healy, Eric Sogard, and Jace Peterson.
  10. Why would Houser be in play to start Game 1 when he pitched today?
  11. The NL West's 3rd place team had basically the same record as the NL Central's and their 4th place team was only 3 games behind us and those 3rd and 4th place teams also had to play the top 2 teams in the NL 20 times. It's just not even a comparison. The Rockies and Giants went 6-14 against the Dodgers and Padres. We had to sweep the Royals to finish with a winning record against the Pirates, Tigers and Royals. "Not even a comparison" Well obviously, if their third place team was almost as good as the mighty Reds (or even the Brewers!)
  12. The strikezone depends on how the umpire is calling it that day. Every player knows that.
  13. A crappy division that is home to half the NL playoff field. Worst division winner, 3 mediocre at best teams and the worst team in MLB. Meanwhile the West had the top 2 teams in the NL. The West also had 3 mediocre to terrible teams. We benefited from the NL Central having more parity than others, but it is only a "crappy" division in the sense that the entire league is crappy outside of 2-3 teams.
  14. Time for Stage 2 of our season-long Rope-A-Dope strategy, as Christian Yelich comes alive and pummels the Dodgers for a first round sweep.
  15. I'm sure a significant part of it is also just making it looking like the front office is doing something to appease fans mad about the team's slow start.
  16. Low BABIP does correlated with hitting poorly/making weak contact, but it's no mystery why they would rather bet on a Vogelbach rebound: Vogelbach: .075 BABIP (!), 17.4 BB%, 21.7 K% Smoak: .232 BABIP, 7.9 BB%, 31.7 K%
  17. Some very impressive numbers in Rookie ball, for whatever that's worth. Here's some info from Fangraphs: Brandon Ramey 2019 (Phillies, R): 7 GS, 22.2 IP, 11.9 K/9, 2.4 BB/9, 2.78 ERA, 2.76 FIP, 2.81 xFIP Pre-2020 commentary: "Ramey is a very tall young righty with a lower arm slot. His changeup has a chance to be very good." Israel Puello 2019 (Phillies, R): 15 GS, 65.2 IP, 11.4 K/9, 2.6 BB/9, 1.92 ERA, 2.51 FIP, 2.54 xFIP Juan Geraldo 2019 (Phillies, R): 12 G, 2 GS, 25.0 IP, 11.9 K/9, 2.5 BB/9, 3.96 ERA, 2.59 FIP, 2.56 xFIP
  18. Can't wait to find out who the prospects are! I don't think this move means that we are "sellers" in the sense of having given up. It's selling high on Phelps who is currently way overperforming his contract. Stearns could have gotten an offer he couldn't refuse even while he still tries to win now.
  19. Got to love Sogard for looking legitimately shocked after it left his bat and he realized he hit a HR
  20. Alec Bohm would look terrific in Brewers colors Wow, that seems like a perfect trade for both teams.
  21. Brennamen: homophobic slur Uecker:
  22. I hope the Brewers break up the no-hitter with a bunt now, only to hear the Twins whine about it like when Tim Anderson bat flipped them last year.
