  1. I knew Brenly wasn't in the booth. But for the longest time, they never said who it was. They just did: Dan Plesac. Wow!
  2. Jim Edmonds is getting to be VERY annoying. It's like he was playing half-hearted in San Diego because they were losing but once he went to a contender he played more seriously again. I didn't really like him with St. Louis. Now I REALLY don't like him.
  3. I didn't even realize they were on until I was flipping channels a few minutes ago. I thought it was a night game. Still 2-1 in the bottom of the sixth.

  5. http://i110.photobucket.com/albums/n116/pitchleague/1.jpg Who am I?
  6. in 1989, my cousin and I started the P.I.T.C.H. League, a 20-team table-top baseball league using the Pursue the Pennant game that was made in Brookfield. They went out of business but our league still goes strong (30 teams now and my wife plays, too) using Diamond Mind Baseball. That's the story. Our post-season logo is the avatar on the left. I've contemplated rotating each of our 30 logos and divisional logos around as my avatar but I've yet to be brave and change mine around. It's so comforting and easy to find your own posts when it stays the same.
  7. I hear you, bullox, about landing in Vegas. Whenever we do, the plane just lights up with people getting excited while the wife and I are thankful that now we can get in our car and drive 2 hours to home. It's no big deal at all to us. Not surprised at all that my wife put here choices down. I've nearly lost count of how many times in 8 years of marriage we've gone up to Estes Park, CO and the Rocky Mtn. National Park. I also love Moab, UT and Arches National Park. Went to Germany, Denmark, Sweden, and Norway in college. LOVED it. The bobsled track in Lillehammer was awesome to ride on. If you ever get a chance (Vancouver, Salt Lake City, any other Winter Olympic site) see if they offer rides on the bobsled track (winter or summer). I enjoyed San Antonio. I always enjoy every trip to God's Country, er, Wisconsin.
  8. funny thing, islands, is that I was just about to delete your second post and then remembered what thread this was in. Man, it's late . . . . .
  9. I've always wondered about this or something like it. Keep us up to date on what you find out. I would find it interesting to hear what he has to say, if you even do get to talk to the guy.
  10. I'm not going to fall for the trap of naming someone and getting into trouble with the wife. But I am interested in what people think all these women look like without all the hair and makeup on, etc. etc. Would they still be that attractive that you'd want to "marry" them? I really wonder how many of them still have perfect faces, hair, bodies, etc. when you see them at home, when they first crawl out of bed in the morning, when they're sitting in their living room watching television, etc. I'm sure that some of them are still very attractive but I'd also imagine a good number of them would give you a "beer goggle" award at a frat party due to their (relative) unattractiveness in their natural self. Maybe I'm a realist that many of these women are very fake. Not all, but many.
  11. I added in a line next to the link for those that may want to check this out at work. I'd hate for you to get in trouble.
  12. "Mean" Joe Greene's half-brother, Mickey?
  13. I'm rooting for 3 multi-extra inning games between the two teams, with both bullpens being overused to the extreme and several key players being lost to the disabled list for extended periods of time. Okay, so this would be a "best-case" scenario from the Cubs and Cardinals. I would expect, however, that both teams will battle with each team taking a game and Sunday is the rubber match which could go either way.
  14. well, this was a good win. Bush has been so Jekyl and Hyde all season so I wasn't sure what I was going to see from him today. He had the first inning "issues" but got out of it and rode the "momentum" (for lack of a better word) to a tremendous start. Very nice to see the offense produce against Volquez. I really though this was going to be a swing-and-a-miss festival tonight. Glad to see I was wrong. I hope we take it and carry it into tomorrow against 7.00+ ERA Homer Bailey. thablingster: I said pretty much the exact thing to my wife in the 9th. SOOOOOO nice to face Valentin in the ninth with nobody on and down 7 runs in his usual pinch-hitting role against the Brewers.
  15. so, show of hands, does Weeks get to that one and, assuming he does, does he bobble it? It's like it's 2006 Rickie Weeks all over again. I'm always holding my breath every time a ball is hit there. Unfortunately, I tend to do the same when the ball is hit anywhere on our infield except shortstop. Even comebackers to the mound has me worried a little bit. To answer my own question, yes, Weeks probably would get to it that one and not bobble it as it wasn't hit terribly hard or have any weirdo bounces.
  16. nice to see after last night and Sunday's brilliant display of clutch hitting. Hope it carries over to tomorrow and then the weekend (if not longer).
  17. I guess I worded that wrong. I meant that I didn't think he was a "runaway" winner for the award as I knew others had great months also. Sorry for the confusion.
  18. What do you mean? That happens almost every other week on television! It MUST happen all the time! Sorry, that statement was just funny to me. Carry on the discussion. I hope those that did order them get them.
  19. Very generous, indeed. I really like the fact that all four charities will be getting something out of this. Too bad that I can't bid, however. Good luck to everyone! I'll really be looking forward to see if the winner can abide by the rules.
  20. on the other hand, maybe the team can build a little "fight" inside of each other for the rest of the season and this could be a "good" thing that sparks everyone. That said, it's not usually something that I would condone personally.
  21. KA-BOOM! Wow what an inning. You can't walk guys, you just can't. They always seem to come back to haunt you. Very surprising to see this, since Manny was cruising until the base hit.
  22. I was not surprised at all about Sabathia. Braun was another story. He had a good month but "player of the month worthy?" He was in the top 5 but not sure about the winner.
  23. we had a 3-inch long lizard in our house this afternoon. Not sure of how he got inside but he did a nice run back and forth across the living room carpet before disappearing behind the entertainment center. Most bizarre thing I've seen in this house.
  24. needless to say, Counsell hit the ball pretty darn hard all weekend in Atlanta.
  25. seeing as he's been traded, no reason to keep this one open any longer.
