  1. yeah, Campillo seems to be the real deal. He handled us easily in Milwaukee. He handled us easily in Atlanta. And now, he's handling us easily again in Atlanta. Many people might think it's luck, but either he's pretty good or we're just not using a good plate approach (i.e. we're terrible). I'm not sure which. I certainly doesn't help that Sheets looks pretty poor today. Only 3 runs allowed, but probably could very easily have been 4-5 runs. Too many pitches thrown, too.
  2. pretty sad. Couple things I noticed: 1) The birthday party was in the afternoon but the incident didn't happen until 10:45 pm? Who hangs around at a kid's party that long, especially if they're just razzing people. Why didn't the hosts kick them out? 2) Who names their kids Jaroslaw, Boguslaw, or Maciej?
  3. I see, the Brewers lost this week's home games on purpose. They got into that tie for first and decided the division was going to be easy so they tanked some games to give them a challenge. Well, it's GOT to be the reason, since we're battling SOOOO well tonight (6-0) lead and the Cubs did NOTHING against the lowly Pirates. Right? RIGHT????
  4. well, let's see, we just had a terrific month (final 7 days, not withstanding) so, I'll go with this: @ Atlanta (3) 2-1 @ Cincinnati (3) 2-1 Washington (4) 3-1 @ San Diego (3) 1-2 @ Los Angeles (3) 1-2 Houston (3) 3-0 Pittsburgh (3) 2-1 @ St. Louis (2) 0-2 @ Pittsburgh (3) 3-0 17-10 month. Wow, that would be fabulous. However, I'll "accept" anything better than 13 wins (i.e. 14-13 or better). edit: Woo hoo! I'm off to a good start! edit2: After 2 series, I'm still right on the money. Nice!
  5. not that I know of. Those fees are how Stub Hub makes their money so they're not going to waive them any time soon. Now maybe there is a way, I just don't know of it and I doubt they exist. Sorry I can't help more than this.
  6. I do have to say, after last week's "high" that I was feeling, I NEVER, EVER, EVER saw this coming. A 1-6 homestand. Wow. Just Wow. thankfully, A LOT of season left but jiminy Christmas, even ONE win against the Cubs would have been great.
  7. I'd say they have fair reason to relax a little bit more for the next few days.
  8. I'm going to agree with my wife and say that I do not, in fact, look anything like Suzy Kolber. Otherwise, you're welcome.
  9. appears to be over. darn it.
  10. roco, isn't that because maybe something was on the track? otherwise, that seems very strange. Unless you live in the country. which then makes it absurd.
  11. yeah I found it on the extra innings stuff. For some reason, 642 isn't even showing up on our channel guide anymore.
  12. okay, I'm in Arizona and Directv channel 642 has nothing but black screen for pre-game. I shouldn't be blacked out from pre-game or the game, correct?
  13. So are Tigers fans up in arms about this if they're only 5.5 games out? Man, a lot of season yet and they're counting themselves out. Hard to believe the Tigers are selling based on the pre-season picks. Or are they . . . .?
  14. also Daron Sutton and Mark Grace continually mentioned how Doug Davis was throwing a perfect game thru 5 innings. . . . thru 6 innings . . . . etc. until it did get broken up.
  15. How do you know they didn't? Dickie was a very popular name back then. As for the other point, I agree. Just call them the Cubs. Kind of like everyone calls the Brewers the "Brew Crew". Just call them what they are.
  16. for reference sake, the Angels guys were all over talking about the no-hitter, in more ways than one, for the final 2 innings plus. It's not just Brian Anderson.
  17. so far, the Brewers are completely un-doing everything they did in St. Louis last week. Disappointing.
  18. really small strike zone tonight. Could make things tough for both pitchers.
  19. I kind of like the "breathalizer" entry policy idea. And not just for Cubs games, either. Funny thing about this thread, it would still exist but only be half as long had the Brewers held on to win last night. Plus, many that stated that they are "dreading" the game tonight would be more than "excited" about tonight's contest. Cub fans are like that everywhere. They do it in Phoenix for D-Backs games. You can hear it on television at every Cubs road game. In some ways, I'd like to see them win the World Series this year so MAYBE some of those "fans" will back off a little. Wishful thinking? Perhaps, but Red Sox fans have definitely "mellowed" a little bit these last 4+ years.
  20. yeah, I got the newsletter yesterday saying that they'd be "clearing out the warehouse soon" but woot-offs almost always occur on on a Thursday at Midnight. Caught me by surprise tonight.
  21. unfortunately, the Cubs won that inning. Cubs 3 battles, Brewers 1 battle, 3 ties But 4-4 on the scoreboard is all that matters. Man, this has been one HECK of an opening game to this series! Win or lose, I'll be pleased with the overall play.
  22. Cubs 2 battles, Brewers 1 battle won, 3 ties Tied up, though! Yay!
  23. Cubs 2 battles won, Brewers 0 battles won, 3 ties. Ugh, we better turn it on soon, and fast!
  24. Cubs 2 battles, Brewers 0 battles, 1 tie
  25. well, Cubs 2 battles, Brewers 0 battles still time, boys!
