  1. you know, I still only partially understand the semi-hatred of Wes Helms by Brewers fans. Yeah, I understand that he wasn't God's Gift to Great Sporting Bodies but he was just starting to play the way we expected when he got hurt in Puerto Rico. That was the end. Suddenly he was the worst Brewer player just because he slipped on some wet cement in the dugout. For the record, I always liked the guy. I was disappointed that he wasn't a second coming of Mike Schmidt but he wasn't that bad of a player when healthy.
  2. anybody else having issues with the icons for new posts, old posts, etc. on the individual forums at Lambeau Leap? For months now, the "new post" icon has not popped up correctly and just shows that generic "image" logo
  3. did anybody else catch the audio from the umps talking to the trainer? The home plate ump dropped a "Dude, I'm alright. I can do it, man." Wife and I=rolling with laughter.
  4. I'd rather have Wise throwing to one of those aluminum hitters like in Major League right now rather than our own real hitters.
  5. yeah, I'd chime in that you might want to wait until baseball season is over at least. Especially with the Brewers in the race.
  6. anyways, Alex Rodriguez will break the "new" record in 2012. Book it.
  7. It's funny how you guys and gals commented about the closing ceremonies for County Stadium on ESPN. I watched and recorded those 4 hours but had to wait for the actual game being recorded up in Wisconsin (I didn't have Directv that year so I couldn't see it here in AZ.) Regardless, the ESPN thing was awesome. And maybe I missed it, but I don't recall ESPN doing any other 4 hour thing for any of the other parks that were closed down. Atlanta, Pittsburgh, Philly, Detroit, etc. etc. etc. I don't remember it. The only thing I DO remember is Kenny Mayne making a big deal of the Kingdome Imposion. But that's because he was from Seattle or something.
  8. yep, I heard the same thing via Jim Powell about a week ago. Over 30,000 per game for the rest of the season, and probably more.
  9. yeah, a few innings later in the game a line shot was hit over Barry's head as he made a leaping effort for the ball. I was cursing that he didn't tear an ACL or something when he hit the ground. Barry may hold the record, but he's no HR King.
  10. When I visited Miller Park this summer on our trip from AZ, when we walked next to the ballpark before parking lots opened (we hit the team shop first) I could smell that County Stadium smell again. That smell will always be in my mind as Brewer's baseball.
  11. I saw the play at first live but not any replays. Was he really out? I thought he was safe after seeing it the one time. 5-0 now, darn it!
  12. I wouldn't doubt if the D-Backs just made a claim to block another NL West team from making a trade for them. Of course, as a result, they got stuck with them. It happens. I still remember the year San Diego made a claim on Randy Myers (1998 I believe) that the Padres made a claim to block Atlanta from acquiring him in a trade with Toronto. But since he made so much money ($10 M +) the Blue Jays said, "he's yours. Thanks for taking him off our hands."
  13. yep, that's my feeling exactly. Just give him a couple days off and let Counsell start a few on the road. The minute we get back home (or maybe just before) plug Hardy back into the starter's role. He just needs a few days to clear his plate. Of course, it doesn't help that advance scouts know what they're doing and the opposition is listening.
  14. I never said that he sucks. I just pointed out that many of his outs have been weak ground ball outs to third or shortstop which is what he did alot during his rookie season. Maybe it's a sign of him getting tired out at the plate. Maybe I'm hallucinating things. But I never said that he sucks. Nor did I ever say his power streak was going to last.
  15. After thinking about the numerous weak ground balls to the left side that he's hit recently (ala his rookie season), is it way out there to think that Hardy is starting to hit the wall this season? He's now well over his career-high in at-bats and has yet to play a full season with the Crew (was it '03 or '04 that he missed most of the AAA season with injury?) To me, it seems like he needs a good break of a couple games (maybe 3-4 games) on the upcoming road trip. Let Counsell play once he's feeling better from his "ailment" and give Hardy a break. Anybody else agree or disagree? Added tags - b19
  16. It looks doubtful for the D-Backs to keep Byrnes as he recently rejected their latest offer and stated (through his agent) that they are done talking for the rest of the season. The front office has more or less came out and said that he'll be testing free-agency this winter. EDIT: Yay! 2000 Posts, finally! (see my EZboard can't count thread in Issues forum for more information) http://static.yuku.com/v2//domainskins/bypass/img/smileys/happy.gif
  17. hey, now all we need tomorrow is for Yost to go on a kicking and screaming tantrum at third base, including kicking dirt on the ump, and all will be well! EDIT: Hey, wait a minute! Now THIS post says it's #2000! What the heck?
  18. Of course, many people said the same thing about his brother. Four years later, he still hasn't done all that much, although this year he's started to hit. I am happy for the D-Backs, though, and hope it helps them out so I can see some playoff baseball in person this year.
  19. I would think if he does win the bid to buy the Cubs, he'd have to sell his share in the Brewers. Or something like that.
  20. sorry, but this one already smells of a loss, due to our hitters being over-aggressive against a soft-tossing just-off-an-injury pitcher.
  21. I won't know for 3 more weeks but I'll venture a guess that it probably will be blocked. I'm holding out hope that it won't be, but after reading about Yuku being designed for a "relationship" type forum, I'm beginning to have my doubts.
  22. I just found it very frustrating that Vargas gave up a 4 RBI and a HR to Marlon Anderson. We seem to give up alot of guys' first homers of the year (excluding guys that hit them the first few weeks of the year, of course) and/or their ONLY homer of the year.
  23. It's been a great ride and it will be a great ride to the finish. I'm happy no matter how we finish. (subject to change)
  24. On a side note, has anybody heard/read anything about what FSN-WI is doing to make up games that they lost to FOX national broadcasts? In the past, FSN added some games in similar situations so I was curious. I hadn't heard anything, nor did I find anything online. Maybe I wasn't looking hard enough.
  25. Decisions, decisions. . . . . Watch Brewers on FSN-WI to listen to our homers or Watch Brewers on ESPN to listen to the Met Lovers but get to see Erin Andrews
