  1. I believe that BA is doing some NBA work for the playoffs.
  2. I'll disagree. I found him boring. I didn't pick up on he and Rock feeding off each other well. It seemed forced and semi-uncomfortable. That said, they got a bit better as the weekend went along. But other than his big calls on Braun's HR and Davis' blast, I wasn't impressed with his baseball announcing skills.
  3. Anybody else think that he could be a good target in the month or so leading up to the trading deadline? I know he's had trouble staying healthy at times but if he has a year anywhere close to 2012, I'd like to see the Brewers try to get him (assuming we're still in the race) and move A-Ram to first. Maybe I'm just dreaming.
  4. heh, I noticed the Nationals untucked the other night when they beat the Cardinals. Funny how I haven't heard a peep about that in the media like we did in 2008. I'm optimistic that we're going to finish with a winning record in April. Please notice that I'm not calling it, though, because then it will surely not come to pass.
  5. I don't really have much of a problem with Gomez today at the plate. Yes, he "stayed near home plate" longer than normal, but it was still (at the MOST) only a "one-Mississippi" count before he jogged toward first base. It's not like he was Pujols-ian or David Ortiz-like and stood there for a good three-count while watching the ball go. Overall, I really don't have a problem with a hitter admiring a home run that they hit (the "sure thing"/"LONG gone" variety) as long as pitchers (especially relievers) are able to show emotion in any way, shape, or form after a huge strikeout. One thing that I do worry about Gomez, though, is this: I fear that he will now begin getting booed on the road in the similar vein as Braun. But unlike Braun, who feeds off the boos, Gomez will get get "angry" at the plate because of the boos and it will hurt his skills as he will constantly be trying to hit a 15-run homer to shut the fans up.
  6. Hooray me! I won!
  7. I'm not being snide or mean or anything (please respect my humor), but I think this is, quite possibly, the shortest post by "The Crew07" that I have ever read. Okay, with that said, continue your discussion, which is very interesting to read.
  8. Nice to listen to the game while at work today. Dead Simmons, Welcome to the boards! Oh, and did you just quote yourself above and then respond to yourself? Too funny!
  9. Finally watched the latest episode last night. Pretty interesting. Kind of glad he's gone. I haven't read the books either so it's nice to watch and be surprised. Although for two days I had to avoid spoilers like the plague.
  10. I think that he may be "pressing" to get that first home run, and thus his patience is shot right now. Once he hits one out, I'd bet he "relaxes" a bit and the walks will come.
  11. yes, zachlaka, that BREWERS pennant/flag looks VERY familiar. I seem to recall seeing that and other flags flying at County Stadium, I believe outside the home plate entrance.
  12. Heh, that's what I was thinking as well. He sure looked and sounded different.
  13. Heh, that's what I was thinking as well. He sure looked and sounded different.
  14. I liken the Brewers putting Thornburg in the pen to the Cardinals doing the same with Wainright and, more recently, Rosenthal. Trevor Rosenthal is destined to be a starter but the Cardinals used to him to great success in the pen last year but are still fully committed to using him as a starter by next season. That's their plan, anyway.
  15. I like the manager going out to chit-chat while waiting for the dugout to respond a heck of a lot more than seeing the manager going out to argue. In other words, I think Bobby Cox's ejection record is safe for quite a long while.
  16. The Mo Award The Hells Bells Trophy I like those. Calling it the Mariano Rivera Award or the Trevor Hoffman Award is not as cool.
  17. Well, the 2nd half officially sucks so far.
  18. Pretty great first half, considering. Some "poorer" shot choices in the last 2 minutes. Things should improve a bit with Jackson available for most of the 2nd half. GO BADGERS!
  19. I don't know. Kentucky was, what, pre-season #1? They're a good ballclub. They're young, they're fast, they have good ball players. That said, they had a terrible season (based on what they thought they would do.) They made the tourney and have rose to the occasion, similar to that Steve Fisher Michigan team in '89 (I think?) I think the Badgers may have their hands full tonight. I'm hoping not, but I'm afraid this won't end well. However, I thought that against Arizona, as well. My prediction is Badgers winning in a close game. I've rode them in every pool. I've never been able to honestly pick Wisconsin as a Final Four team and believe they can do it. (We all probably pick them as a "homer" pick every year on at least one bracket.) But this year, they were legit. I've been nervous about this for 2 days. p.s. How many are listening to the "homer" broadcast as opposed to the National feed with Jim Nantz?
  20. I'd wager a bunch of money it's your blu-ray player. They are meant to play blu-ray not run RAM heavy apps. I'd imagine the computing power on your blu-ray player is dwarfed by your ipad Well, I tried an update on the software of the blu-ray tonight and there was no update. I then started up the MLB.tv app on the blu-ray and fired up the Yankees-Astros game. It did the same thing as the other night: played for about 30 seconds, then the buffering circle came up and spun for 10 minutes without refreshing before I quit the game and exited. Then I changed to the wireless on the blu-ray. Went back to the game and it started up and played for a good 10-15 minutes just fine. Then the buffering circle appeared and spun for about 5 more minutes without refreshing and I gave up. I also have netflix on this blu-ray (and some other video streaming apps) and they all run fine and have for years. So now I'm really confused.
  21. I tried it out on Tuesday night. When I ran it on my ipad, it worked pretty flawlessly. When I tried it on my LG Blu-ray player (has the app installed) it worked intermittently and froze several times. Missed the Gomez home run as a result of a freeze. We gave up after that, tired of missing the game. I'm not sure what the issue was. My network ran it fine on the wireless to the ipad. But my network had trouble on the hard-wired connection to the blu-ray player, which doesn't make any sense. My network speed is 6 Mbps when it's fully functional (yeah, I know, my provider sucks.) I might try the wireless on the blu-ray (it does have wireless built in) and see if there's any improvement. Maybe the app needs to be updated on the blu-ray, too. Is that a possibility? I'll try it and see. So, thus far, I'm kind of mixed on it. At least it doesn't cost me anything to figure this out.
  22. I'll play along, now that Spring Training is over. Record: 85-77 All Star: Braun, Ramirez, Lohse Biggest Surprise: Overbay/Reynolds platoon works out to the tune of a combined .780 OPS. Biggest Disappointment: Gallardo fails to win 10 games. Weeks plays terrible again. Playoffs: Brewers fall 2 games out of the wild card. Place in Division: 3rd Playoffs NL: Dodgers, Cardinals (blech), Nationals, Pirates, Braves Playoffs AL: Athletics, Royals, Red Sox, Tigers, Rangers World Series: Tigers over Dodgers
  23. As of this moment, the Arizona Diamondbacks are the Worst team in baseball and the front-runners for the top pick of the 2015 Amateur Draft.
  24. I thought about asking if anybody wanted to have a skype call with me while at the meetings and just let me talk to whomever else showed up, but I thought it was likely impractical for somebody to do such a thing. Some year, maybe I'll be up there for this.
  25. This is the michigan state game from last Saturday all over again.
