  1. I am pretty sure that is what is meant. 12 eps instead of 24. Still no word, though, if those 12 episodes will span 24 hours, although I'd assume that they will. I wonder if Chloe will be back from the beginning or if they'll bring her back "mid-season" or something.
  2. I don't have any explanation for this, but the same thing happened to Mike Trout. His 2011 season was pretty "meh" and nothing special. Just like Segura last year. I don't know if my anecdote means anything but it's interesting to dream about what might be happening.
  3. I wish there was sound for the cat vs. lizard one.
  4. whoa! That is really unexpected! But I'm glad to read about it! GO JACK!
  5. oh . . . so the 2-hour finale is part recap (first hour) and part new (second hour)? That's kind of disappointing.
  6. I apologize for bumping an old topic, but I finally saw "The Tree of Life" last night. Um, I kind of want 2 hours and 20 minutes of my life back. Yeah, it was "beautiful" and "well shot" from a cinematography standpoint, but the story, although I was able to follow it fine, was just too . . . . what's the right word? . . . . . Harumph?? The story was just kind of blah. I completely did not understand the Sean Penn angle (he was one of the sons? He was the dead ghost spirit of the son who died? I honestly do not know.) And the use of the big bang and creation of the universe just appeared to me for two reasons: 1) to get an Oscar nom for cinematography, and 2) to waste 20-30 minutes of film time. I can only imagine the comments being thrown about a theater during this period of time. At least, for the first time ever, I felt comfortable to NOT pause the movie when going to the restroom or making popcorn, knowing full well that I wasn't going to miss a thing.
  7. May Schedule 1 vs Pit 1-0 4 vs Stl 2-2 2 vs Tex 0-2 3 @ Cin 1-2 4 @ Pit 3-1 3 @ Stl 1-2 3 vs Lad 2-1 3 vs Pit 3-0 2 vs Min 2-0 2 @ Min 1-1 1 @ Phi 0-1 16-12 for me.
  8. that's too funny. Pretty much verbatim what I said as I changed the channel to MLB Network.
  9. Sophia did prove useful the other night, interviewing Yuni B. after the game IN SPANISH!
  10. all players in MLBPA have a free car service for such times as these. Every player gets a card with a number on it that will send a car to drive the player home. For Free. It works in any city at any time. Why wouldn't Yo use this service? Doesn't make sense.
  11. I'm not defending the on-field instructionals because I agree, they gotta go. However, at least they do tend to make the topic of that night's instructional to be based on an event that did occur in that night's ballgame.
  12. Ryan Franklin absolutely stunk it up in the closer role for STL in 2011 and lost his job by the end of April. They went on to win the World Series. I'm just sayin' . . . .
  13. huh, in Maryvale, they were telling us the same thing--no lids on any drinks. I asked the concessions manager and he said something about players' safety and preventing fans from throwing them onto the field, in addition to the extra cleanup associated with fans that do not use the trash cans. I find it interesting that it "appears" to have carried over to Milwaukee.
  14. from what I've seen of pictures and stuff, it doesn't appear that they're hard up for cash. Wouldn't doubt if there is a nanny involved to watch the kids when she goes to games.
  15. nice win. Too bad a parent at school blew the outcome for me 10 minutes before I was to head home. Couple things of note for me: 1) I'm not a fan of the always-on bottom line of scores. It was very distracting having scores scrolling for the entire game. I hope they go back to the old way of just bringing it up a couple times an hour. 2) The interview with Martin Maldonado's mother sounded like they were talking to one of Marge Simpson's sisters. What a voice!
  16. first IGT post of the year! And we're still 3 hours away! Have to work, though, so won't see it until I get home. I plan on sequestering myself in my classroom today and forcing no internet access, too.
  17. VERSE Well, I count up the days in a winter haze Since the leaves began to fall. Now it won’t be long ‘til the sun comes shining through. When the camps start breakin,’ my spirits awaken To an irresistible call, Of an old American song that’s always new CHORUS And the robin is here, The sky is so blue. There’s a band, there’s music And the flags are flying, too. The grass is so green, It’s like never before, It’s Opening Day, I can be a kid once more. VERSE Now will the champs repeat in the summer heat? Will the races go down to the wire? In April ev’ry team has a chance to wear the ring. And there’s a rookie phenom Who tore up the farm, And the fans never seem to get tired Of chasing the dreams that dance in the air ev’ry spring. CHORUS Yeah, the robin is here, And the sky is so blue. There’s a band, and there’s music, The flags are flying, too. The grass is so green, It’s like never before, Yeah, it’s Opening Day, I can be a kid once more. BRIDGE So open the gates And let the people in. Let the games begin. And may the home team always win! CHORUS The robin is here, The sky, so blue. There’s a band, and there’s music, And the flags are flyin’, too. The grass is so green, It’s like never before, It’s Opening Day, Yes, it’s Opening Day, It’s Opening Day And we all can be kids once more.
  18. This comment needs to be amended slightly. The suits need to come down from their luxurious palace digs when they have to go to the bathroom and take a few laps around the parking lot and see what goes on while they wait in line for a porta-potty.
  19. what do you do with your 5-gallon bucket at the end of the day? Do you dispose of it? Do you just leave it there? What happens to it? Are you sanitary about it? I completely understand the need for a bucket in a tent. Just boggles me, though, that you then have to "deal with it" afterward, not knowing what might even be inside said bucket.
  20. 'stache, thanks for the info. I kind of figured it was like that but I wasn't sure. Good to know that I will NEVER be able to get into that kind of hobby that you are in, as there is no way on God's Green Earth that I would be able to afford more than one card per calendar year. I know that they have "retail" packs and "hobby" packs and such. What is the difference between the two? And can you even get those 1/1 cards (or whatever ratio) in packs anymore? Is it even possible? I see the "odds" that they put on the wrappers on some packs but does it even happen when most of them seem to be up on ebay or whatever from dealers who just ripped open tons of packs just for those very special cards? In other words, if I went to Walmart, for example, and bought one pack of cards a day for a year, would I EVER get anything worth anything?
  21. okay, I have a question for you guys. I understand (well, sorta not, actually) the need to have 13 different color variations on a single player's card as it creates scarcity. Is it safe to assume that you guys, for the most part, buy all your autographed insert cards and such as posted in your photos rather than lucking into them through opening packs? And if so, how much are you paying for these cards? (i.e. how much did you have to pay for a card that is listed as "1/1" or "1/45"?) I never realized that the Bowman cards had become SOOOOO specialized that they offered a bazillion different variations/colors/refractorisms/etc. Kinda makes it pointless, to me, as a former collector and one who now a days buys a pack here and a pack here just for the fun of opening a pack, not for "investing" in. Just kinda curious what kind of coin one spends on, for example, each card that has been posted thus far.
  22. Seconded I call for a unanimous proclamation. We've finally got a guy we all can agree on. RECALL VOTE! RECALL VOTE!!!!!
  23. probably belongs on LambeauLeap, but anyway . . . The Big Ten made an edict (or whatever) that starting with 2015 season, the scheduling would not have any more cupcake Division 1-AA teams on their schedules. This is because with the new playoff thing in CFB that starts in 2015 there would be a greater emphasis on strength of schedule. Big Ten teams that get 3-4 "pre-season" wins against cupcake schools would probably "never" get a chance to play in the 4-team playoff. (before somebody points out my use of "never" and tries to argue about it or whatever, please note the subtle use of quotation marks with the word "never" in my statement.
