  1. I've been so anxious and excited all day. Couldn't sleep last night (had to drink some Nyquil to settle down). Come on Brewers make it all worth it!!!!! House to myself this evening, tons of beer in the fridge. . . . I want to give my Bucky Badger blowup yard doll plenty of high fives while my wife is gone. (not that we both don't give him plenty when she's here. . . I'm not crazy.) GO BREWERS GO!!!!
  2. I saw it. I thought it was pretty good. Jim gets Dwight again. Nicely done, too.
  3. Hey all, Looking to buy a single seat for my mother-in-law for games 1 & 2 of the World Series as she now wants to go. My wife and I are coming up to use their season ticket seats (which has always been the arrangement since we help pay for them every year: "you guys get to use them for all the other games but if they make the WS, we're going to those games!") so she is looking for a seat. Let me know if you've got one floating around that you can't get rid of.
  4. oh how I hope that Texas finishes the ALCS off on Saturday. The guys and I are heading to Laughlin on Sunday for football, parlays, and cards. I really don't want to leave after the early NFL games to make sure I get home for first pitch. And I REALLY, REALLY don't want to try to fight to find a TV that has the game on during the NFL games.
  5. so far, this NLCS is mirroring the '82 Series somewhat. Brewers won each game 1 fairly handily Cardinals won each game 2 and game 3 with a nail-biter ('82 game 2/'11 game 3) and an easy win in each ('82 game 3/'11 game 2) Brewers won each game 4 ('82 big 6-run inning/'11 big start by Wolf) Now, we all know what happened the rest of the way in '82. I am optimistic that things will not repeat themselves and we shall avenge a series we could have won had we been healthier. Yes, I'm still bitter. But optimistic and bitter could be just the right cocktail.
  6. yeah, I know. Just found it humorous that it was posted here when the first round was pretty much over.
  7. I'm pretty excited about tomorrow. Of course, anytime the Crew is playing in October is totally fantastic! I look forward to coming home after my after school chorus and watching the Crew, win or lose. Should be a fun game, too! LET'S GO BREWERS!!!!!!!!! I didn't go to trouble the other day to book flights and rental cars for the WS to be disappointed! I'm willingly wanting to spend money!!!!! This doesn't happen often, so MAKE ME PROUD!
  8. Looks like Detroit and Texas are emblazoned in another great game tonight.
  9. Maybe someone else who was at the game can confirm, but I thought Hawkins was up in the pen in the 6th inning, just in case the lineup turned over and they needed someone to face the heart of the Cardinals order. Hawkins seems to have lost the 7th inning job to Saito (or, at least when Takashi has a day's rest) in the post-season. There was a photo (it was either on ESPN.com, mlb.com, or jsonline.com--don't remember which) that showed Hawkins warming up. The caption said it was the 5th inning.
  10. Joe Torre, since he's the man that controls the roof, apparently.
  11. looked more like the hip to me, with a slight glance on the forearm. I'm pretty sure he'll be fine or we'd have seen it on his face during all those close up shots.
  12. pretty cool pictures indeed. Too bad I can't save any of them--I'll have to look elsewhere.

  14. yeah, I got all of about 3 hours sleep. I woke up at 3:00 am sharp and haven't been able to get back to sleep since. At 4:20 am, here I am posting on a message board, thinking about breakfast, and getting ready to hit the links in a golf tournament in 3 1/2 hours. It's going to be a long Saturday. But worth everything that happened on Friday.
  15. heh, heh. Nice try. "Say something nice about the Cardinals" . . . . . yeah, whatever.. . . .
  16. okay, I'm signing off the internet for the day. Got 3 classes to teach then a half-hour sequestering period before heading home to watch the game. Planning to log on later tonight to celebrate with the rest of you! GO BREWERS!!!!!!!
  17. it's so quiet at Yankee Stadium, even with 2 out and A-Rod up. Wow.
  18. see that was confusing to me. I couldn't believe that Yankee fans were just standing there while I was watching. It was either (a) they were nervous that Detroit was going to get out of it, or (b) they knew it was their God-given right that they'd win so why bother cheering in such in inconsequential inning such as the 7th. I'm leaning toward (b). Three more outs, Tigers!!!!!
  19. I'm super excited, baby!!!! And how's this for optimism? Whoever wins will still be cheered next week in THIS household! You betcha baby! COME ON BREWERS, BREWERS, KEEP TURNING UP THE HEAT!!!!!! The Cubs woulda lost in three! We're still going to be one of the final 6 teams alive in MLB! Let's make it to the FINAL FOUR!!!! YEAH!!!!!!!!!!! (I've never felt like a 12-year old on the internets before. I'm guessing this will be as close as I get. Dear Brewers, please win so I can do it again tomorrow night!!!!!)
  20. if you are only 11, how do you know that you really love beer? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif Seriously, I'm nervous and anxious but it's a good kind of nervous and anxious. The game starts tomorrow at 2:07 AZ time. I will be in the middle of class with 1st graders teaching "The Zombie Game." I have one more class after that. Then I will be sequestering myself in my room, lights off, music blaring, windows and doors closed and locked so I do not hear anything about the game. At 4:00 AZ time, my wife should be done with her after-school stuff and we should be able to leave, hopefully sneaking out the back door so nobody blabs anything while we scurry to the car. The radio will already be turned off (it's set to MLB Radio 24/7 but we'll turn radio power off in the morning) so we don't hear anything. I'm going to get home and start the DVR recording from the beginning and watch it "live" to me. Yeah, I'll skip thru the commercials, being very VERY careful not to push the "real-time" button or fast-forward or anything. So help me if Directv screws me over and the DVR doesn't record correctly or is "mysteriously" blacked out or something like they seem to do every Opening Day. . . . .
  21. this post reminds me of this conversation, seeing as I was going to post something self-centered and such but now has lost its significance.
  22. Dang, I hope this part comes true . . . . . .
  23. I remember listening to this one on the radio. Uecker was ON that night, especially after the brawl. Just pure comedy with every pitch. I even remember him cracking jokes during the brawl itself.
  24. wait, huh? You're allowed to make post-season predictions after the first round is nearly over?
