  1. as much as I want to, my wife and I have decided that we just can not go down there tonight. Definitely will be watching on TV from our AZ home.
  2. anybody that's have their grill stolen . . . have you looked in some of the near by trash bins/coal bins to see if they dumped it in there? Is it possible that maybe security goes around with their carts and collects them up as "trash"? Just wondering . . . maybe you've already thought of this stuff.
  3. depends. is it child-proof or not? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif edited to put emoticon on. Otherwise, this could've been misconstrued to calling someone a child, which it was not meant to be.
  4. to me, Zach Greinke is our Jimmy Chitwood. He doesn't say much but plays his heart out. I am totally expecting Roenicke to call a mound conference with the entire infield and Greinke on the mound, Ron will want to pull him from the game, the teammates will all let out big sighs, Ron will yell above the crowd, "What's the matter?", the players will all look to Zach, and he'll say, "I'll make it." (or the equivalent thereof)
  5. that's the one. Nice pictures. Depending on which game it was, your first picture just barely cuts my wife and I off on the foul line side of your shot--front row. I think I remember those kids on the edge of your picture.
  6. Cardinals over Phillies in 5 games. Phillies lose game 4 in extra innings, Cardinals score two off Madson in the 9th inning to win game 5 by a run. Brewers over D'Backs in 5 games. Home team wins each game of the series. Gallardo and Kennedy go seven, shutting each other out in the opener. Kennedy gets hit hard in first 4 innings in game five. Tigers over Yankees in 5 games. Verlander wins twice in Yankee Stadium. Rangers over Rays in 5 games. Rangers and Rays play an epic series with 4 games with 2-1 final scores. (Game 2 is the exception with the Rangers pounding the Rays 11-3.) Brewers over Cardinals in 7 games. Prince Fielder is intentionally walked a post-season record 13 times in the series but LaRussa pays for it as Rickie Weeks hits a HR after 3 of them and drives in 10 runs in the series. Tony Plush and Pujols go at it in game 3 forcing both players out via suspension for game 4. Cards bats disappear in games 6 & 7 but Lance Berkman homers in the 9th to force game 7. Braun does it again with an 8th inning long ball to open up a 3-1 lead in the finale, which Axford saves. Rangers over Tigers in 7 games. A slugfest every game, with the Rangers winning their 4 games with an average of 7 runs per game. Detroit wins their three with 9 runs per game. Brewers over Rangers in 7 games. Doug Melvin squeals with glee as the Rangers and Brewers match up in the Fall Classic. Greinke is filthy in game 1. Gallardo is strong in a game two nailbiter but TEX wins. Rangers pitcher Colby Lewis gives up 4 homers to the Crew in first 3 innings as MKE takes the series lead. Rangers even it up as Nelson Cruz hits one out late in the game four contest. Extra innings in game 5 with Texas winning on a walk-off single by Kinsler. The Crew rough up the Rangers pitching staff in game 6 to the tune of 13-5. Craig Counsell is hit by a Feliz pitch in the 9th inning of a tie game, moves to 2nd on a Plush bunt, and scores the winning run on a Fielder opposite field bloop just fair down the left field line. Milwaukee is burned to the ground by all the celebratory rioting but is rebuilt in 3 days by Ryan Braun.
  7. coinciding with the New England loss to Buffalo on Sunday, I thought the exact same thing. Well done!
  8. the more I read this thread, the more I wanna say, "Screw it, I'm going!" To those that bought LF bleacher seats front row--they're awesome. We sat front row in LF and RF in July when the Crew was there (as well as in "good seats" by the dugout the other two games--which they lost. Never doing that again. . . .) Chase Field is indeed a huge ballpark. I think the upper deck alone holds as many fans as the other parts of the park combined, but I think that's fairly common, as someone alluded to earlier. I would just go to Sliders since it's so close. And the light rail can't be any easier, really. If you really want a challenge (or are really bored), look for my memorial brick that I paid for in 1997 when I first moved here. It has my username on it. Hint: It's near the "machine."
  9. I think it's fair (and important) to note that seasons don't end like this very often. I'm not advocating adding a wild card, but this season here in 2011 shouldn't be used as the example of why we shouldn't add one. We could easily see a scenario where adding a team creates just as much excitement, depending on the context of the standings at a given time. oh, most definitely. But I would also think that more often that at least one or two of the wild cards (the #1 seed wild cards, if you will) will be decided by then and would only leave excitement for the other two wild cards (the #2 seed wild cards). I can't really imagine too many times that they'd enter the final day of the regular season and none of the four wild cards have clinched yet. I'm sure it CAN happen but I doubt that it would happen often, if at all.
  10. I'd go but weeknight/day games during the school week for an LDS won't fly with my principal (although she's going to one of them). Probably has something to do with the fact that we're definitely going to Milwaukee for a week if the Crew goes all the way.
  11. yeah, tonight would have been not even close to as exciting as it was had there been 2 wild cards. I'm glad it's only 1 WC winner.
  12. what a crazy five minute period! Nevermind that all night was nuts as a whole! Red Sox are OUT!!!! AWESOME!!!!!
  13. eh, that's nothing. I do that just about every week for Badger games (heck, every college football Saturday, even if UW plays later in the day.) No big deal.
  14. the wife and I are already contemplating a friendly wager with students and staff down here. Should be fun. Any good ideas?
  15. uh, Capuano had 18 wins in 2005, I believe. Nice work, FSN-WI. edit: maybe they meant "finish with 17 wins and not one win more"
  16. whoa! let's not get ahead of ourselves quite yet. . . . .
  17. Dbacks have "choked" a bit this inning. And Upton bobbles it (run woulda scored anyways).
  18. really late to the party . . . may have been discussed earlier. . . . . how is the game nearly 3 1/2 hours long and it's only the top of the 7th? did something happen to delay the game? I know it's 9-8 but it almost seems excessively slow.
  19. we clinched and my wife started bawling. I was running around the house cheering wildly. Earlier in the game, before she got home (she made it about 5 minutes after Ax saved it), I'm not afraid to admit that it got quite dusty in the house. And most of the night, too, as I'm reading threads, watching MLB Tonight, listening to highlights, etc.
  20. I've taken stuff off my HD DVR from directv. The quality is just fine. Not HD, obviously, but it works for me. Here's how I did it: I used the S-video out with the RCA audio outs and connected it to my laptop thru my Dazzle video dongle thingy from Pinnacle. Then, using their Studio program, I record the episode/show to my laptop hard drive. Then, I use some video editing program (your mileage may vary) and clean it up a bit and edit out commercials, etc. and then burn it to a DVD. It works quite well for me, although it can be a long process (all day for larger projects) to go from absolute beginning to end of the project. I'm venturing a guess that there are easier ways that exist now but that would involve me buying more equipment/computer programs. I'm too cheap to just toss out stuff that I bought about 5 years ago as they work just fine for me.
  21. okay, it's 11 pm AZ time (1 am Milwaukee time) and I still haven't read any posts from the attendees of the game (unless I missed some). Are you guys/gals still stuck in the parking lots? Still partying? Too tired to tell me some details? I'm too jazzed to go to bed yet!
  22. I'll be honest, I watched all the television coverage so I am looking forward to all the links from the WTMJ post-game stuff here on the site. Game highlights, all the post-game interview stuff that I read about in the IGT, etc. Thanks for posting it if any of it does get posted.
  23. okay, everybody. I am now convinced that it is SAFE to post in this thread. http://i110.photobucket.com/albums/n116/pitchleague/onebaseball.jpg http://i110.photobucket.com/albums/n116/pitchleague/tierone.jpg
  24. I Won't Be There for ANY of the games! I will be watching on TV so the magic had BETTER happen on Friday or Saturday, since I'll be in Laughlin watching football all day on Sunday.
