  1. I'd challenge him too. Heck, might as well set up a tournament.
  2. yep, total comedy gold for the entire Ron Swanson parts of the episode. Beginning-to-end. "We're ordering pizza?" The Pyramid The chair throwing Everything about this episode was just pure money.
  3. just got finished watching the new episode of "Chuck." Nothing about the story, action, or comedy bugged me. But the little things they just can't get right. Case in point: Chuck and Sarah, on a balcony overlooking the French countryside, watching the sun set over the horizon in front of them. A few hours later, they are on the same balcony, overlooking the same French countryside. But this time watching the FULL MOON rising over this exact same horizon! C'mon, folks! That is impossible to occur! Always bugs me when they can't get the moon right. Just ask my wife; I've been moaning for years about the Disney commercial with the mom & dad booking their Disney vacation on their computer as their kids are asleep and then suddenly being awoken by Disney characters and the pumpkin carriage outside their house. So what do you see in the sky? A waning sliver of a crescent moon . . . that in real life would only be seen as the sun is RISING in the morning! Okay, enough lunar ranting. EDIT: Hah! Right on cue, we're watching Hawaii Five-O and they air an updated version of the aforementioned Disney commercial. This time they ride in a pirate ship under a full moon. So, no lunar hijinx this time! Typical, though, that I'd rant on something from 2-3 years ago and then within an hour or so, I get put back in my place with their answer to my complaint. Wonder if my house is bugged . . . .
  4. If there was a competition for Internal Human Timer, I would be world champion. I don't know how many times I will set the timer to cook something in the microwave, stovetop, oven, grill, whatever. Then go in the other room and do whatever (internet, read a magazine, watch TV). And then, without a clock nearby or a watch on my arm, instinctively know to go check on the microwave/stovetop/oven/grill/whatever and the is literally 6 seconds or left left on the timer without the alarm going off.
  5. I watched the movie "Flyboys" tonight while my wife was out. I enjoyed it. You don't see too many World War I period pieces. Yeah, it was "Hollywood-ized" but I took it for what it was worth-entertainment-and got my money's worth (I recorded it during a free preview weekend this past summer.)
  6. wow, this guy is still playing ball??? I remember when he was an "up and coming" shortstop in the early years of the decade and he did absolutely nothing. He wasn't any kind of an uber-prospect, of course, but he was supposed to do more than he did, that's for sure.
  7. http://www.speedtest.net/result/1111835004.png This is using my hard-wired ethernet plugged into a power adapter unit from Slingmedia (the slingbox people). Still faster, probably, than my wireless signal, I would guess.
  8. I tend to shy away from calling a 26-year old baseball player a "prospect" but that's just me. At this point, he should be happy to have a job at all in the majors. If he was such a stud, he would have won a job and kept it a long time ago. Now, he's at the age where he better "make it" this year or he's going to be a career backup at best. That said, I would like to see him get shots at third base to give McGehee a breather once or twice a week, first base during the interleague road games, and maybe some right field. Otherwise, a top pinch-hit threat/first base spot-starter/replacement now that Prince's consecutive games "streak" is over.
  9. I'm kind of surprised that Mariano Rivera is only behind Hoffman by <50 saves. He could be the new record holder by the end of September at the earliest and, probably May/June 2012 at the latest. Anyway, congrats to Trevor! I never got to a home game to see him pitch or come in to Hell's Bells. Not in San Diego or in Milwaukee. But it was nice to watch on TV--when they didn't completely cut it off to go to commercial, which was, practically, every time.
  10. Oh, SURE! Where were you this past week when I needed you?????
  11. "The General" You know, I just watched that for the first time about 2 weeks ago, and even though I absolutely love Buster Keaton and his movies, I just didn't laugh very much at it. Sure, it was a masterpiece of film--I'll give it that. But the comedic values just didn't do it for me, short of a couple of chuckles. "The Cameraman" does it for me every time, though; although I think this is because it is the Keaton film that I first watched and "fell in love with" when I was in college. Otherwise, I really like that list, Robert. It's amazing that I've seen only 19 of the 44 that you have listed.
  12. I know it's rather juvenile, but I nearly spit out Taco Bell all over my laptop after reading this one.
  13. ah, okay, thanks. Good to know!
  14. If there was a competition for making fake radio carts (commercials) for your made-up table-top baseball league, I would be world champion. If there was a competition for female belching, my wife would be world champion. (trust me, she won't argue this one. Somewhere, her sister is lurking the board and laughing her head off right now.)
  15. I know we've got about month and change before Pitchers and Molinas report, but it might be kind of fun to make some bold predictions (read as: would be cool if it happened but it probably won't) from today until the time that the team breaks camp on March 20-somethingth. This could be a prediction about a player that the team might sign to an invitation to spring training, or how a particular player will or won't perform in the spring, or an injury, or anything. Also don't limit yourself to the Brewers--if you've got a bold prediction about another team, go ahead (please limit yourself to the number of "Cub player falls in a well during cutoff-man drills" jokes/predictions as, c'mon, those are too easy http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif) I would ask that there be no bold predictions about the regular season, as I'm sure there will be a thread for that toward the end of Spring Training. I'll start: I, pitchleague, boldly predict that Prince Fielder hits a spring training homer completely out of at least 2 parks in the Phoenix area and has his best spring ever.
  16. take this for what it's worth, but he has played in the AL only for his career. Maybe he can adjust better the NL style of play where, batting 8th likely, he will HAVE to be getting on base more than he did in the AL. Maybe it will force him to adjust, knowing that he's probably done as a starting MLB player if he doesn't. Just a thought.
  17. I tend to agree with most that have said he is not very good at all. However, he played with some pretty poor Mariners and Royals teams. His best year, arguably, was 2007, which was Seattle's only winning season when he played there. I know I'm grasping at straws here, but perhaps he had a bout of dogging it a bit on the poor teams but played his heart out when the team was winning? I don't really know and no one would know except for Yuniesky. I'm willing to give the guy the benefit of the doubt for a month or two, though. If he's still booting the ball around and letting grounders get past him due to limited range and/or still hitting. 165 on June 1st, then I'll be willing to concede that the guy has to go.
  18. I don't remember from last year or not, but does WTMJ still do those "Talkin' Brewers" shows on Saturdays beginning in mid-to-late January and going all the way up to spring training? I don't remember if they kept doing them once Powell left or not.
  19. I got my wife a Kindle for Christmas. I'll have her chime in on it later tonight since she has used it a bunch in just a little over a week.
  20. I've been cleaning out my closet and dumping a bunch of old stuff to make room for other stuff. It's been kind of fun re-reading these journals I was instructed to keep back in high school about my life back then. Imagine that, my teachers in high school were right--I WOULD appreciate looking at them in 20 years. ----- Continued here: viewtopic.php?f=67&t=30501
  21. yeah, I get that etiquette question, too. And I, too, kind of just nod my approval. But this one was a total butcher job. And by a barber that is not my normal barber, so it totally fits the Seinfeld symbolism.
  22. speaking of Seinfeld, I got a terrible butcher job of a haircut on Christmas Eve afternoon, reminiscent of Jerry's awful cut in "The Haircut." I've been wearing a hat just about all the time since. Going to church looking like that was very uncomfortable.
  23. the end to "The Jimmy" gets me every time when Mel Torme sings to Kramer. Also, "The Marine Biologist" is probably my funniest episode.
  24. Hey, now! Buddy Biancalana is uber-awesome. Escobar can NEVER replace him. EVER. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/tongue.gif
  25. well, we're 1 week past the 30 year anniversary of arguably the biggest trade in franchise history (acquiring Ted Simmons, Pete Vuckovich, and Rollie Fingers from the Cardinals for prospects including Kevin Bass among others. What a great thing to wake up to. Glad to see the Crew is going for it, for once. Gotta wonder if, in any way possible, this makes Prince say, "you know, I wouldn't mind re-signing with these guys if they're going to go for it for the next couple of seasons." Even if it was just a short deal. It's going to be hard watching football today, knowing that this has happened!
