  1. Amazing how Suarez has gotten everything borderline and even some worse while Peralta has gotten nothing on the edges.
  2. Do the Brewers know that Hiura has severe reverse splits? They sure operate like they have no clue. He should be nowhere near batting 5th against lefties.
  3. I know Hiura is the whipping boy of choice but outside of Tellez and flashes from Yelich this lineup is brutal. Adames is horrible right now.
  4. Rather have him focus on hitting the ball hard then worrying about launch angle to start the year after the past two seasons.
  5. Article in the Athletic by Eno Sarris describing the biggest gainers in stuff so far in the very brief start to the season. Aaron Ashby is #1 in biggest gainers. He identifies that he has added more horizontal movement on both his sinker and changeup. We are in the infant stages of the season but that is nice to read. I must admit I am a little anxious about him facing the right handed heavy lineup of the Cardinals Sunday who were the 3rd best in wrC+ vs. lefties last year.
  6. Valerio isn't human right now. He has 3 home runs and 1 strike out in 32 plate appearances all while being the sixth youngest player in the Southern League.
  7. You will know Yelich is right if he starts performing at home. That was what was so disappointing about last year is his OPS was slightly worse at home then on the road.
  8. His fastball is very average all of his value comes from the changeup
  9. Williams is pretty useless if he doesn't have the airbender going.
  10. Ya he had a late start to spring because of a shoulder issue. Didn't really have an offseason if I remember correctly.
  11. You know a player is locked in when they are pulling breaking balls out of the ballpark and hitting fastballs the other way. Him and Quero have been impressive. It is nice to have talent to check in on each affiliate right now. Hasn't been that way for a while.
  12. Tip of the cap to Mullens, not many lefties can do that to Hader on a fastball up in the zone.
  13. You are completely mistaken. Renfroe was acquired after the non-tender deadline
  14. Feliciano has 128 Plate appearances above High A ball plus he has missed huge chunks of the 2018 and 2021 seasons. He is not ready for the big leagues. Then you add in the fact Severino isn't post season eligible, a move like this had to be made. Very important tidbit if it is true Caratini can be optioned to the minors.
  15. Great point about facing lefties. That is probably something that the projection isn't picking up well. Maybe I am being too harsh on his defense since it did have positive value in his brief time in Washington and abruptly switched to negative after joining a team that loses 100+ games a year. All that to say I like my chances of the Brewers finishing closer to 10th in catcher WAR than the 25th place projection.
  16. They are completely selling Narvaez short with his defense. He has done nothing but produce defensively since he has come to this organization. I know that is only a season plus 60 games. During his time as a Brewer he is 3rd in fWAR defensive catcher value. This projects him to be 23rd in fWAR defensive catcher value. Barring injury find it hard to believe he would fall that hard in defensive value. We will see if Severino can improve with the glove, I am skeptical with the shortened spring training. Find it interesting see Payton Henry as the projected backup catcher in Miami and out producing Severino's WAR although both are barely above replacement.
  17. I just don't think people realize how bad Hiura was at AAA the second half of the year. May+June 89 PA .403 AVG .506 OBP .708 SLG 1.214 OPS 29.2% K rate August+September 117 PA .150 AVG .271 OBP .280 SLG .551 OPS 36.8% K rate
  18. Trevor Gott signed a split contract meaning if he is in the minors he will make less than whatever major league salary he agreed upon with the Brewers
  19. Justin Lange a pitcher who was a comp A pick in 2020 is the player the Padres gave up. He is their 8th best prospect according to MLB Pipeline (which hasn't been updated for 2022 yet). A grade 50 prospect, a not so perfect comparable in the Brewers system on value and level would be Antoine Kelly.
  20. No shame in seeing if he's got something there. His fastball is pretty average at getting outs.
  21. Trying to figure out what the heck the Rockies are doing.
  22. There are only two teams better than the Brewers at WAR per dollar since David Stearns took over, that is the Rays and the Athletics. They have averaged $2.9 Million per 1 win.
  23. Last I checked a projected 1 Win Above Replacement is going for $8.5 Million in free agency right now. Seems like an appropriate deal to me.
