  1. For Braun alone I'd expect Bellinger and DeLeon without any money exchanged. Bellinger isn't even producing numbers near to what Braun is producing and that's at the Minors. De Leon has great Numbers and he'd be the Headliner with Bellinger being the 2nd piece. What Bellinger has accomplished with the bat is nothing better than what Isan Diaz has accomplished. 1b though vs 2b makes Diaz more valuable than Bellinger. One is ranked, the other isn't and that is how I believe Bellinger should be ranked. Lower. Or Diaz needs to be a top 50 prospect today. Throw in Thornburg and I'm asking for...you know what, I'm not going there. He doesn't need to be included in this trade.
  2. I've been very fortunate to have Nolan Arenado on my Fantasy teams each of the last 2 seasons. I decided to look when he was drafted. Round 2 pick #59 of 2009. Ouch. The Angels who got Trout that fateful comp, also grabbed Tyler Skaggs and Garret Richards. Missed on Tyler Kehrer with the 49th pick. Had they gotten Arenado? Or had we gotten Trout and Arenado. BRef is killing Arenado on his Runs above avg with the Bat. 17 total last year and just 13 this year. 74HRs 71 2bs 89/180 BB/Ks and roughly .285avg .560+ Slg Lead all of Baseball in TBs HRs and RBI yet his bat was just +17? Yikes. Kris Bryant was worth +27 runs with a .275avg .488slg 26HRs 31 2bs 77/199 BB/K ratio. Last season alone. Explain why? Every category is worse except BBs and OB. Something that Arenado is far better in this year, yet not eclipsing his +Runs of last season thus far. Bryant has earned 12WAR in the 2 season to Arenado's 10.4 and BRef has Arenado as the better Defender too! Each are young potentially on a way towards HoF. Where 67.5WAR is the avg of 13HoF 3b according to BRef. Arenado at 18.2 today but seems to me if he's every bit better than Bryant he should be around 21 then. Sure he gets to play in Colorado but he hit more HRs on the road last season. and a 23-20 2bs advantage home to road. Sure Singles were much less but 51-37. for last season. It's got quite the difference this year Home to Away but boy did he seem to get jobbed on WAR by BRef for last season. Bryant's Home Away splits last season were dreadful. This year it's better on the road. Just no way to me that Bryant should have had 5.9WAR to Arenado's 5.8 last season. looking at the numbers.
  3. At this stage, youre prepping your team for the Playoffs. Will this version of Broxton help you win the Playoffs?
  4. Took 45 secs but I figured Hot Tea,s was meant to be How Teams. Lol I was dumbfounded there for half a minute on what could Hot Tea LMAO what could it mean? I can understand the , over the M since it's next to it, the T instead of the W was a different kind of error gotta be a phone auto mistake. Anyway, now it's known what was supposed to be there. I'll delete this when you edit the words but keep it here to clarify the misunderstanding for now. But I enjoyed the laugh so good mistype. NFL London would clearly get lots of compensation for their hot teas I'm sure
  5. No, not at all. Milwaukee has 0 use of any Salary Relief. Elite prospect return only. The Brewers are a team with only 32.5mil committed next season and 20mil and less beyond (Braun's contract) It's a clean slate in payroll. Yes guys are and will be hitting Arb process, but you can move on from the ones you don't want or non-tender if there's better to put out there. Maldonado/Peralta/Kirk N./Gennett/Chase Anderson/Carter and Carlos Torres. Braun is producing at a high rate. Talking about money is something I see drummed up by the media types. Because, let's face it, in their minds multiple teams could and should have traded for him. Why hasn't it happened yet? Well, we'll just say it's because of money. And suddenly it's, Brewers have to kick in money to get any kind of decent return for Braun. What's going on is Stearns is asking a high price or simply, being smart and knowing that right now, Braun is lightyears ahead of current Brewers as a #3 batter. At the Plate, no one else presents the ability anywhere near what Braun presents. Until that player emerges from the prospects ranks or via a Braun trade, He's keeping Braun. For now, Braun can be and see through to the rebuild and be a part of that Brewers' team. That is the general consensus. You have a veteran of 9+years and his Slash lines are all above what was a HOF type of career being built up. I mean there are whispers of teams asking about Mike Trout and he's rearing to be paid 34mil+ after 2017. There isn't even an inkling of that salary being any kind of burden. His triple slash line is below Braun's BA, and Slg. with only the OB being ahead of Braun's. What's to be a King's Ransom to get Trout is to be a Salary dump by the Brewers for Braun? Remember Jay Bruce and his career high Big Bat of .875OPS? 13mil owed next season on option and Below average Defense for his career? It's at .557OPS with his new NYM team. Teams are going to look at what Lucroy has done and what Braun has done and just the consistency brought and either pony up to Stearns' demands or watch Braun continue putting up HOF type numbers for his age when the Brewers face them.
  6. Injuries turn a guy from 93-96 to 87-88. He's lost 2 full seasons now and a 1-1 ranking was given leading up to 2015 season. One he never saw any playing time of. So yes, I am in belief he's the least wanted prospect among Texas Prospects. Like I stated, there's more Minor League Retired floor than there is #1-#2 type SP ceiling at this point. Let's go ahead and say he can be healthy next season. After 2 seasons of injury and a 58 and 1/3 Career High IP. What do you think he'll progress to for full 2017? My answer is 40-52Innings workload tops. Let's proceed to 2018. 64-78 Innings tops. Now, everything will have had to gone perfectly the next 2 seasons to open up his innings limit 30-36. So doing the math lowest and higher. 2019 94-114innings tops. 2020 124-150innings tops. 2021 154-186 innings tops. 2022 184-212 innings tops. 6years from now to have an ability to pitch a Full Season ML workload. That is considering 0 health issues from here on out. Age 28 to take on that #1-2 SP high ceiling as a Rookie. Remember the fear of tailing off at age 30 and beyond? I'm sorry, but the guy is not worth the risk. It'd be different if he had pitched 95+ Innings in a season post High School but 58.1 is his max. 4years and counting. #1 SPs go 215+ #2s 200+ He is a very, very long way post injuries to reach that. The Training wheels on him will be long. Comparing him to Aiken who's pitching now professionally at age 19/20 with 32IP and counting, is not anywhere near a competent comparison. It would be, if Aiken also was sat for the season after his 1st game. And even then, he has the 2+years age working for him where in my projection he's 26 as a Rookie then. That is huge difference, prime age 4years vs. 2. Dillon Tate in 2015 had 14Games Started with 2 CGs and 103.1 IP adding 9more post draft. Just an fyi, you missed his 2015 season when he became a SP. If you are in belief on Matuella at this point, then the Brewers already have the #1/2 SP in Nathan Kirby in the works. At least Kirby has pitched 113 Innings in a season. So even a cautious approach by Milwaukee he would still likely reach 95IP next season and if done so, team opens up his workload in 2018. The attitude towards Matuella changed when he goes 0 in 2015 and 3 in 2016 Professional Innings pitched with 58.1 being his career high. Had he gone and put 50-60 Innings in by the end of season, or at least made it to the end of the Minor league season healthy it'd be a different kind of attitude on him.
  7. Lucroy's loss isn't the reason why Milwaukee is losing. The Offense has scored at a higher run average than each of June and July. The pitching losses of Smith and Jeffress plus Guerra along with Davies' collapse, has lead the team on their losing ways. 5.66 runs per game given up in August is higher than the Baseball leading Red Sox Offensive runs scored. As well as higher than Arizona's Baseball leading Defensive Runs/game given up. The bullpen have given up at least 1 run in 14 of the 18games this month. Thornburg no runs in 6games. Smith Runs in 4 of 8 games appeared this month. Jeffress runs in 2 of 7 games appeared. 6 of 21 is a lot less than 14/18 You can maybe see why Bullpen guys are so highly valued currently.
  8. Matuella has got to be the least wanted prospect in the Rangers system for the Brewers. 144 Total IP now in 4years with 3 IP as a professional whos looking at age 23 to attempt IP #4. 57 IP is his highest in a season with Duke. Matuella has 0 chance of making it as a Starter at the Major League level for at least 5 more years. Id assume he would be a Rule 5 concern before that point. Which means he's stashed on the 40man in a system rated #1 currently? He became a non trade candidate once he lasted 3IP and done for season again. Just think about that. Another FrddyPeralta type of find will have higher upside than Matuella who at this point has Bullpen stamped all over his Ceiling and a Minor League Retirement as his floor.
  9. Just can't figure out the concerns of his Clock because in no shape or form was he not going to play in September. And any injury to Villar he'd be the replacement. Because of his callup you are getting to see him more often in a Brewer uniform than you would have if they added him in September. As mentioned, he had a solid July. He continued those types of numbers or even better, you can't leave him sitting down in AAA to start next season to gain this team control argument. 29days in September service and 9-11 days to start next season you'd have to keep him down up til end of May next year. For the added 100 days of team control? You're now putting his Arb as Super 2. Players get a bit more expensive going through Arb 4 times. I'd expect he'd earn more in the 7years of control then vs. his 7years of control now w/o the Super 2. As to his start with the bat. My concern was how he hit balls. And if he pulled them or if he'd use all the field. He'll be fine as he shown the ability to use all fields. He's 22 and will probably fill out some and raise his power ability 15-25%. 15HRs a year from the SS with GG caliber Defense? What more do you want? I feel the expectation level of every Brewer Position prospect is to have an .850+OPS or else he's a bust being at or above MLB avg of .739 currently. How about 6BBs in 62PAs? vs. Hernan Perez's 11 in 270 PAs? That's showing he won't just be a BA contingent OB. Get him around .260 and .333OB? higher. And he's young! It took Villar his 3rd season and now 4th and look at his drastic improvement. I'd consider Arcia to potentially be that type of development hitter.
  10. I hope part of the PTBNL included how well Lucroy played for Texas to maybe open a prospect....like Mendez. 7HRs in 15games 14RBI. It's great that he's producing every bit like the #1 Position Player to trade for this year's deadline. .9 WAR in 15games Consider that he's only started 12games. 8-4 Tex is in them. 1-2 when he didn't. Seattle has gone 12-3 in last 15 games a worthy run to catch Texas but with 9-6 have only gained 3games. Keep it up Luc! It would be interesting to find out the List of prospects for ptbnl was actually lists to pick from based on his production.
  11. Only Reddick doesn't have the potential for a QO as he was traded within the above example idea. 4/80mil to get him or that for Braun plus prospects. And again for some reference, Cespedes was paid 27.5mil by the Mets with 47mil the next 2 seasons if he doesn't opt out on his contract....which he may look at the market and say I can do better than 23.5mil the next 2 seasons. Braun has double Cespedes' WAR on the season. But he was worth over 2WAR less last season which is what Braun is ahead by this season. Either way, you comp him to Cespedes and understand one is 5million less per season and a higher floor type of bat with Braun. But costs prospects. Or, you go after the 5million more a season Cespedes who's floor is a lot lower than Braun's but less in age so regression is less plausible. As well as HR power potential creating a higher ceiling than Braun. Doesn't cost prospects. Likely, a QO pick though. Which a team in the top 10 it would cost just a 2nd pick. Atlanta, Angels, DBacks, 1 of Rockies or Phillies He'd fit in fairly nicely for a 2nd round choice. Though Atl at #1 seems a reach, but the other 4 I'd consider the potential.
  12. If we got Guzman, great. I campaigned for him I think years ago. Lefty Bat, 6' 5". Remember this is the 3rd piece to the Lucroy/Jeffress trade. He's ranked #5 on Texas currently via MLB. And just to play devil's advocate, yes he's not your typical 1b profile bat, but you know who won the WS last year? Eric Hosmer and KC Royals. Lefty 6'4" 18HRs 93RBI .297/.363/.459 last season 3.6BWar. Yeah I'd see Guzman fitting that kind of comp. And maybe better. He'd be a nice pickup. And a reason to try trading Carter in the offseason. I could see teams liking Carter for 2017 at 1b for his price. But 2018? Now he's too expensive for his production and a very small trade piece. Give Andy Wilkins his 1b chance and Guzman is the callup when ready or tired of Wilkins' production. Josh Bell is MLB's #1 1b prospect. 14HRs in 400 MiLB ABs. AJ Reed is #2 15HRs 261 MiLB Abs. Cody Bellinger #3 16HRs 322ABs. Dominic Smith #4 12HRs 401 ABs. Bobby Bradley #5 22HRs 402ABs. Josh Naylor #6 and #100 overall MLB 10HRs 390ABs Guzman has 16 in 403Abs. 1b as I've said a long time now, is the new SS in the pipelines. They just aren't producing like they used to. That's reassuring to me if it ends up Guzman. But I don't believe it will be. I said Payano or Jurado. Those 3 are better than Ryan Cordell or Eric Jenkins gets. Wait and see.
  13. Adding to that Addison Russell comp. BRef has him at 3WAR in 106games. Honestly, I think Arcia is on the ability to outperform what Russell has produced. Less HRs, but higher BA and equal Slg due to it. .732OPS, with his Defensive skills(like Russell was Lauded about) and you're staring at 3-4WAR for a SS. Arcia had a SB today something that he'll certainly outproduce Russell in. That may actually mean he'll outproduce Russell in WAR and be a 4-5 type. Yearly. To the Escobar comps. Pssh. Wrong. I believe you're looking at that comp in regards to coming through the Brewers system and being a highly regarded Defensive SS. But 5HRs has been the highest in all of Escobar's seasons. Arcia presents a higher HR ability. Better BB/K ratio More often of the good, less often of the bad. So OB and Slg are already higher than Alcides. BA may be same/similar. Oh, and something else to consider. Escobar's ranking came in a time when SS weren't being produced. They were terrible. Arcia fwiw is the rated the 5th best SS while being ranked 11th on MLB overall! Who knows why SS has emerged as it'd appear to be the deepest position player suddenly being produced in baseball, but the Brewers have one that will keep them on point with much of the rest of the League. Is he going to be a Super MegaStar? Probably not. Maybe he can become an Ozzie Smith type who's credited with 76.5WAR on BRef as a .666OPS batter. All that matters the most to me is the fact that the Brewers will have a Plus defender at SS. Gold Glove type. He's already had me drop jawed saying wow with some plays he had defensively in the Minors. He can be all the average SS bat he wants, there is gate worthy defense forthcoming and here today. There are 7others on the team can be gate worthy offensively. Defensively, like Gomez was in 2013, steal the show young man!
  14. Looking around some of the team in MLB and 2b production. Oakland and Cincinnati could be fits for Scooter. Maybe even Atlanta. Gennett certainly isn't expensive, even going to Arb, it'll be the 1st for him and one would think 2million-ish is forthcoming only. I wouldn't expect a major return. From Oakland maybe a Casey Meisner. Cincy someone like Taylor Sparks or Nick Travieso.
  15. I'm sticking with Villar at 3b and SS backup. Isan Diaz if quickly becoming the 2b of the long term future. Perez I'd move on from in trade. Villar is better plain and simple. I believe in Villar's success just at the fact I believe he's SB hungry. His approach at the plate is to get on 1st base. Look to steal 2nd base. I'd think it'd die down a little should Billy Hamilton do what he's expected to do and steal 85+ in a season. Villar has been trying to protect leading SBs, you saw that in Pittsburgh as Marte was his competitor. Well, Hamilton has gone off for 11 in 10games 6 in last 2 games. I think as he's falling in to the 2nd best behind Hamilton he'll slow down his 3b steal attempts. You also have to factor in to the season, so what he makes these mistakes on the basepaths? The Brewers are battling for a top 10 draft pick, not a Playoff berth. When 2018 comes and Milwaukee is approaching a .500+ type of team core, games matter then more than they do today. Looking to 2018. Isan Diaz and 25+HR ability replaces Villar and 10-15HR ability. Literally, Villar has cemented himself as Leadoff on the Brewers for years now. Arcia has the fortune to not have to fit to that mold. Other hitters like Santana won't have to be a Leadoff type of batter. Villar at 3b forget the batting profile if he provides a team with an absolute Beast of a Leadoff hitter. BA/OB and SB ability. It's not like the Team has 3b coming in the pipeline that fit the 3b profile type of hitter you want. Lucas Herceg while off to a fantastic Bat, has just 4HRs in 180ABs. 3.5times that is 14HRs for a Season's worth of ABs. Boston Leads all of MLB in runs scored per game. 14HRs by their 3b. That's a pace of about 19-20 on the season. Ortiz has 25HRs leading the team. Mookie Betts at 23. Jackie Bradley at 17. 5 Hitters with .800+ OPS. That to me is what matters. If Villar can stay .780-800+ OPS. It's productive enough for a team to win and be competitive and score runs.
  16. Braves top 5 has 2+seasons of ML experience. Brewers have 3. Villar approaching 2seasons worth of games.
  17. But what is committed against a team's payroll for 2017-2021? Dodgers trade for him. Currently BRef has them as an estimated 208million Payroll. for next season. Not removing any player on that projection but adding Braun. Does the estimate become 227million? Or 223million? Or is it even 228million because 20million was to be his original salary w/o the signing bonus?
  18. Peralta twice through lineup 0runs given up and only 1hit. Someone may not want to be in the minors anymore
  19. Well now you got me all confused on Braun's contract hit. I'm looking at BRef and it lists Braun at 20mil the next 3 seasons. But he has 4million deferred making it just 16mil. So is BRef correct on 20million the hit on a Team's payroll, even though you have 4million deferred? Or does a team only receive 16million hit on their salary and then the 2million for 9years 2022-2031? Cots has Braun's salary reduced on his signing bonus to 19,19,19,18, and 16. And then makes the declaration of the 18mil deferred 4,4,4,3 and 3. So how does MLB assess the Payroll implications? Is it 19million hit against what a team's salary is for 2017? Or 15million since 4mil is deferred? Would seem unfair to me if they said it's 19million when only 15million is paid out for the season? And not to implicate 2million for the 9seasons against a team for it's deferred payments.
  20. Or he's fitting in on their plan to the ML team by start of next season. Mitch Moreland is a FA after this season. Fielder is a question mark and more of a DH. You have Joey Gallo but for a contending team, He'll be on short leashes and Adrian Beltre while having his extension, will be 38 and 39 the next 2 seasons. Amazing how healthy he's been. His production tailed off a little last season and barely any this season, but still age and production comes in to play. His next minor injury may be where the next dropoff in production comes. At that point Gallo becomes the 3b. 1b/DH is open if Fielder/Profar aren't taking it up. So I don't believe it's going to be Guzman for that factor.
  21. It wont be Matuella. Hes hurt and done for the season. Im believing Ariel Jurado or Pedro Payano are the two scouting on. http://www.baseballamerica.com/minors/after-long-wait-payano-emerging-for-rangers/#HAZWx2bfABs66q1p.97 “He’s one of the priority guys in the organization,” Jaimes said. Payano can throw strikes with all four of his pitches. He throws a curveball and is developing a cutter, but the changeup is the clear best secondary pitch. “The thing that makes the changeup good is he keeps the same arm speed and hand speed,” Jaimes said. “It looks like a good fastball, but it has good depth action and good down action.” I'm thinking he's a guy that's buying low on someone who's heading towards a top 75 type ranking. Just that he's been out now for 1month and I assume when you have choice a,b,c maybe even defg you want to confirm you're choice and see some more reps. Jurado may be advancing quickly but sounds like a No. 3 at best ceiling. Payano or Jurado seem a little like equals but Payano with a 4pitch arsenal and a cpl ticks higher Fastball, may be what you desire over what Jurado's slower FB and higher Control. That is, if Payano pitches again and shows the same ability post injury. If he didn't, then Jurado becomes the safer pick.
  22. Well, Kirk hitting 4hrs in that last homestand doesnt really equal lost playing time. By the way, that Villar 3rd base foul throw to first? Done. Forget any other 3b option. 3b filled
  23. Well 3rd game 1st AB and Arcia took 2 swings opposite field. Almost dropped one in. Lessens the concern of his batting approach. Looked very comfortable sending a ball opposite field.
  24. Oh just to create a riot, Joey Gallo was sent to the minors upon the trade anouncement. So If the Ptbnl cannot play a Mlb game, well he would qualify as not doing that currently and eligible for ptbnl. Have fun with that tidbit
  25. A poster gave his insider list I recall of Mendez, Guzman, Jurado, and Payano in order of priority. But someone decided on Brinson/Ortiz/ptbnl. Seems the scouts advice werent taken. Howd you like to be that group? If your advice isnt taken, then why not just make your next priority list the worst 5 you seen in a teams top 30? Your work doesnt matter with ignoring your opinions. Arcia's stance. Maybe theres a body frame that allows him to make it work. Youth, slender, and athleticism? As he ages and body fills out some more maybe then he takes a more traditional stance? I will say his swinging was Gomez like in agression. I dont see an approach where he has any intention of using CF/Opposite field. Thats a little worrisome for immediate future. But at same time, if hes swinging this way and gets eaten alive by ML Pitching. Well he gets to work on that in AAA to start next year
