  1. Not sure if it's true or not but on FS1 they said he is Vlad's nephew, not son. You're probably right, and misread/miswrote that. I don't see Arizona being buyers at the deadline unless they really dominate the next two months. They are 4th in their division and being a borderline contender won't make them go for a big ticket name. One of their younger arms might be a realistic headliner for a deal the way Gomez has been hitting. Much longer and his trade value is going to start trending downwards. Hopefully he can get hot for the Brewers. Gomez has played in 35/of the team's 54 games. He's produced above avg still for the season headed for another 3+WAR year on his "Down" season. He's slugging .450+ There's very little he has to do to get in line with what he's done the last 2 seasons. One 4-4 game with 2HRs probably just about does it. The guy is in MVP type WAR ability, for anyone to look at his down start as being reason to look the other way, when he's being paid less than 6mil&9million, should be banned from baseball within the organization. As Brewer fans, we're now looking at month #5 of playing what? .300 baseball? All we're going to do is keep remembering the reasons Gomez helped the team lose another game, and forget the games he's done what he should to help the team win, when they keep losing, it's forgotten. Maldonado has been awful this year, yet he's won the team single handedly 2 games of the 18 this season. Did you know that? Nelson Cruz never put together a season like Gomez til he was 28. Gomez is 2years ahead of him currently and that's w/o PEDs. And Cruz has 0 value defensively unlike Gomez making him even more valuable.
  2. Supposedly to open space for Tomas in OF and Lamb at 3b. Vlad Guerrero's son was one of the prospects involved, likely the prize of the acquisition while Arz filled their Catcher need with Castillo since Tuffy G went down for season. Still curious on the DBacks being a perfect suitor for Gomez. Lamb to Milw and Tomas a hold of 3b. Take on one of the Pitching prospects Arz has. And who knows after that? You put a Pollock, Gomez, Goldschmidt, Tomas 1-4 together. That'd be a fairly strong top 4 to have to get through. I don't think Arz has that Elite prospect, but have enough depth in quality prospects to get 3 solid ML contributors with 6years team control from.
  3. Well, we now know the move was because of Braun. Who gets promoted to AAA? Hopefully Reed. Wren if anything deserves a demotion with his complete lack of hitting ability. I think it's fairly obvious at this point Wren was a move to get away from the Braves organization and not for any future Major League potential. I like the poster who projects Thornburg to take over in the rotation next. I still don't get the Hernan Perez claim. A utility Infielder that is now clogging up the middle infield roster when the team needs the OF or SP spot instead? He has 1 XBH in 117PAs now at the ML level. You appear to have a ceiling of .665OPS at best in the guy. The fact that he's been claimed now twice, because of his defensive abilities, shows exactly why I think Segura has some tremendous trade value. His bat is obviously far higher ceiling in OPS than Perez with likely equal defensive skills. If Perez has ML value to teams to continue being claimed, then Segura has to be desired by a number of teams for what he's been and can be.
  4. Repeating what Reilly says. A rebuild or retool chopping off much of the payroll shouldn't result in the team losing money due to less gate receipts. It'd be what? Braun and Pre-Arb to Arb players? Overall, the payroll likely isnt 60million. Corner OF, 1b, 2b, SS, CF, 2 legit SPs, Closer, setup, long man would be covered. 10/25. Thornburg would be 11 where ever he goes. You promote the likes of Jungmann, Pena, Rivera, Goforth, 1 at least of the recent Tyler's. That's 16. All before what the team gets in return for selling the lot. Maldonado would be 17 at Catcher. Staring at a little over 40million in payroll commitments. Arcia would be a gate welcomer getting to bat leadoff and ahead of Braun. Reed at CF and Rivera maybe at 3b? Underdog players where one likely surprises with the other being overmatched. I just still believe the town is great for baseball they'll turn out enough regardless. And there's gotta be excitement to follow with whomever is acquired combined for Gomez, Lucroy, Segura, Davis in my opinion, Lind and KRod. They'll be some ML addition to the team out of those players, they can't all be AA and lower.
  5. I disagree. This is the kind of thinking that Melvin/Attanasio have used to get us where we are. A Gomez trade should include an elite pitching prospect, no matter what level he's at. In fact, I would almost prefer someone in AA/AAA. We are going nowhere the next two years, no reason to waste a year or two of control. If we get offered a stud pitching prospect who happens to be MLB ready, that's one thing. But we shouldn't limit ourselves to only seeking out that type of player. Well, you're mostly in luck as many of the elite pitching is under your A-AA preference. I say elite to put in the rotation, meaning he's polished to be at that level. Sure we could take on a A/AA pitching talent a couple years away, who likely has a wart or two though. Most of these top notch pitching prospects have BB issues. Which is just odd since most of the hitting these days seems to be impatient batters who swing at the 1st pitch. LOL. But so many of these top pitcher prospects are in the 4.5-5BB/9. Even if they would get to a 9k/9 they'd barely be at 2k/BB ratio. Just going through MLB's top 100 it doesn't look like there's even 4 SPs available to maybe have in trade that would qualify as not being a 4+BB/9 and having a 8.5k+/9. And then you look at the teams and only the Mets Syndergaard or Matz would a deal maybe happen. Minnesota and the Yankees I don't see dealing this season. Gomez will have to 100% be on the Brewers for the season and only a trade in the offseason seems possible at the moment.
  6. Read a recent traderumor article. Oh Hanley Ramirez is the worst OF in Baseball and it's apparently not even close. Everygame started in the OF he's apparently costing the Red Sox .25runs defensively. Wow. But is that really surprising? Wasn't he benched a few time in his final Marlins season for dogging plays defensively? Somehow the Red Sox thought hey, lets take a SS/3b and put him in the OF and at the same time sign the Panda to play 3b while trying to groom an overmatched Xander Bogaerts at SS? With the Porcello contract, it's no wonder the team is losing. Serious lack of scouting ability going on and decision making.
  7. I can only think this move makes sense if all of them...Lind, Sardinas, Segura, Ramirez are traded within the next couple of weeks. I feel Jeff Bianchi had a higher ceiling than this guy's production to date.
  8. Just to go a little further on my Melvin disgust on missing the opportunities to trade players. He extended or kept players that were a negative defensively overall and earned their value with the Bat. He should have learned to trade these players their final year of team control or with 2years team control vs extending them. Hart, Fielder, Weeks, Aramis Ramirez being prime examples. And I'll say this now. Khris Davis fits the mold to a tee. He should be available in trade now and through the rest of team control, and traded the moment something promising is offered. You could say the same for Scooter if he ever played meaningful time at 2b when he's healthy. But then again, the team's scouting appears so terrible at top notch talent in a long while, I'm sure the returns would be AAAA guys all of them and we'd be .400 baseball playing since 2010.
  9. FWIW..Mr. Ace of the future Archie Bradley after giving up 5runs in 5IP today now has a 5.80ERA on 1.63 whip in 8games started and 35.2IP. In a losing season, not going to get upset on an emergency type of start when he's obviously not fully ready to be....unlike Bradley should be.
  10. Alright, I get a 20min. of terror for a Brewer game....And Heyward looks out game over! Never even touched the bag....but hey. Thats what replay is for, to get it wrong anyway
  11. Houston. Correa's time if forthcoming and that will immediately improve the team. This is a team that I would think with Chris Carter and Jed Lowrie kinda scrapes with another Playoff type team in a trade. Mets? Lowrie for Gee or Niese? Carter to Seattle for JA Happ Some kind of trade like that. Opens the playing time for Singleton and Correa. Marishnick's batting isn't a full fluke to me. He was a top 100 prospect that just didn't get going early hitting for Miami. Springer should be improving. Keuchel, is showing he's real. McCullers is up and he was a well regarded Pitching prospect. I believe the team is going to stay for the season competing for the title. Do they make a dramatic trade though? I just see the Happ or Lohse type of SP being added to the rotation Someone to look for 190IP at around 3.75ERA. Look at their prospects a Joe Musgrove would sorta fit the deal for Lohse at the moment. A 2011 Supplemental 1st rd pick ranked outside their top 10 currently of prospects.
  12. I agree with this. And who do we really want to be penciled in for both Garza and Lohse next year? I am all for rebuilding but going into next year and saying ok 2 of Cravvy, Jungmann, and Wagner are going to be in the rotation would be getting a little ahead of ourselves with this whole rebuild. I would rather reward 1 player for a good 2015 and strong spring. (Whoever that is) ... Then use next year as another re-tooling year and look to dump Garza then when he has 1.5 years left. (And we hope he has a great first half next year) A Gomez trade should include an elite pitching prospect to immediately put in the Rotation, think Shelby Miller for 1 year of Jason Heyward. Of course, at this point, I'm not advocating trading Garza certainly this month and he may have to be a deadline only type deal if he improves his trade stock. You can also wait for the offseason and trade Garza/Gomez both then instead. Again, hoping that Garza pitches very well through rest of season and improves his stock. As Lohse is to be a future FA, there are probably going to be a few arms like himself that can be signed for under 13mil a season. The staff won't be strong, but better than that 3 of probables to take over in rotation.
  13. Come on! This is Jaime Garcia! 18 straight sent down without leaving the infield for crying out loud! Are these Little Leaguers?
  14. Cardinals vs Brewers...Luck....Lucroy's blooper caught, Braun's shot hits pitcher gets him by inches. If this were the Brewers pitching staff it'd be 1-0 Cardinals now runners on 1st/3rd 0 outs.
  15. Nationally televised on ESPN. I get to watch a game from down here in Miami and Lucroy is returning to lineup! Nice! Lind might sit due to a sore back? It's a Lefty SP, why not sit him then! Game starts in 22min. Let's put together a string of good games with are Leading Catcher back calling for the pitchers!
  16. Pittsburgh got ahead of the game with their Latin development and scouting. Same can be said with Kansas City doing a good job. Those two franchises will maintain success longer than Milwaukee has. The #1 reason Melvin should be canned simply is, not one ace developed in pitching. He acquired Grienke at the cost of Escobar/Cain/Odorizzi/Montgomery. Odorizzi is breaking out this season. In return he got Segura, Hellweg, Pena. Absolute loss now in that trade. Probably 13WAR between Escobar/Cain/Odorizzi today to 2.5WAR in Segura. No World Series to show for it...KC has one now, having turned Odorizzi/Myers to Shields/Davis. So what must that have been? 0WAR on Odorizzi at the time to 6.5WAR added to KC? Off of a Brewers prospect and one of their own. KC had 2 Aces on their team to Milw's 1. Forget their developing ability. Melvin has failed to develop an Ace or even really a great #2. How many of the Cardinals done? Miller/Wacha/Martinez/Rosenthal. I mean just churning up top flight talents in pitching and now have the best record in the NL for doing so. Montgomery, based on his previous draft classes seems to be a positive, but his hire? Would he be a part of this organization if Seid hadn't passed away? I don't think Seid was in line for being fired so I doubt Montgomery was being lined up as a replacement by Melvin. So Melvin appears to have improved(maybe) the franchise simply on circumstances and not on his own mental capacity. The thing is, the team has had the 2 playoff appearances in 13 years. So that is 11 seasons of non playoff appearances. Where are the stud Prospects to show for all that losing mediocrity? 1 playoff appearance since 2008. That's 5 of 6 years you could look to add talent trading away your players on losing teams. But Melvin failed on doing so with Hart/Weeks/ARam/Lohse when the time was apparent and there. I'm sure among others, just not on the top of my tongue to write. The Brett Lawrie debacle. Having multiple GMs not even have a clue he was available and Melvin settled on Marcum. What if the team got a better SP in trade. Matt Garza was traded by the Rays to the Cubs a few months later. How about a Grienke/Garza in prime duo with Garza having 3 years of team control? I don't know if the Tampa GM knew at the time if Lawrie was available but the trade for Marcum happened so early in the offseason. The writing/history is on the wall, Melvin isn't leading this franchise to a WS future. And that writing was apparent with Roenicke who he gave a contract to for 2016 when he should have not been brought back for 2015. He paid the manager 2 years for less than 40games of managing. Decisions like that for a small market. Dumping money that shouldn't have been spent.
  17. Bobble head day should not be a consideration for how you manage your roster. Agreed, but teams probably shy away from it when they can. Well, That game is versus Kansas City. Looking at their depth chart, Gomez would be a fit over Jarrod Dyson. Trade Gomez to KC and you still have Gomez bobblehead day only kinda as a farewell day too.
  18. Like Roderick is suggesting. Cardinals trade for Lind. Pick up his option like we did Gallardo and trade him in off-season. They stand to get even more back in trade should Lind perform well. But like I said. There's Travis Ishikawa on DFA to be claimed. I'd go that route if I'm them and give up nobody for likely much the same kind of bat Adams has slowly been becoming.
  19. If that is how the draft actually plays out, I will be a little disappointed. If Kolby Allard, Mike Nikorak, and Garrett Whitley are all available at #15, I really hope they take one of them. I would be ecstatic if the Brewers some how ended up with both San Clemente kids, Allard and his Catcher, Lucas Herbert, with their first couple of selections. Nice Link. Reading it makes me wonder on teams not jumping on Allard/Mutuella/Aiken earlier than expected. When the claim by the writer is the talent is so good for 2016 15 of the picks would be first rounders this year based on now. So would a team draft an Allard/Matuella offer them a cheaper prcietag due to injury concerns and if they won't sign, just consider the picks being delayed a year a non-lost cause? The Brewers take Aiken, say 1.5mil offer. He doesn't take it think about the top 5 pick in 2016 plus #16? For next year? How about monetary? So you didn't spend your 1st pick's money. Spend it July 2nd overspend even. Use the cap you can't spend 2016 on internationals for 2016 on the double 1st rd choices then. That's if Aiken declined the offer.
  20. Time to break the bank Yadier Alvarez is forced to wait to July 2 signing date.
  21. My feelings on catchers is they're limited to 130games ceiling roughly on a season. Have all the reason to get banged up injured. Foul balls, swings that result in a follow through bat to the head. Nevermind the grueling squats have on the body...Lucroy's second half swoon? For these reasons I'd never take a catcher in first 2 rounds. They just aren't exceptional enough vs drafting a quality everyday position player or a #3 or better SP vs what you can get replacement level in FA for less than 5mil a year. And they're at least proven replacement level catchers vs drafting a high ceiling lotto ticket who easily can flame out or require being moved off from Catcher defensively in the first place. Snag a talent 3rd-5th rd if one is there or just wait another season.
  22. Man, I just feel bad for the Pirates. Because of all the teams in the division after Milw winning it, I'd prefer the Pirates to. Taillon should have already been on the ML staff, and he's been delayed by the TJ. Now Kingham. Luis Heredia with his own injury issues a former top 100 ranking. And even Glasnow is on the DL currently. Cole missed games in 2014. It's stuff like that, that make GMs trade these prospects because long term health to even reach the Majors is so unknown. That said, getting a former top 100 like Luis Heredia who's just 20 because of the injury and downward ranking but obviously with so much time to get back on track would be nice buy low for Lind.
  23. Ever just consider buying another package and using that package's UPC/Code and the Receipt you get? I realize the date would be past your original letter. But if they need the info so you get a refund/coupon, Just tell them you got them their info with another purchase if asked about it.
