  1. I don't think it's that La Stella is all that great so much as the free agent 3B market is a poo-poo platter of mediocrity. He's the best of a pretty sorry bunch, unless you are convinced that a 36-year-old Justin Turner can still put up solid numbers, or, perhaps more importantly, stay healthy. There are also teams looking at Marcus Semian as a potential 3B, but I have to think he's looking for SS money. One name I haven't heard a whole lot is Didi Gregorius. He turns 31 next month, is coming off a solid season, and while the bulk of his career has been spent at SS, I would imagine he'd be able to make the switch to 3B. My god I would love his bat in our lineup.... But would he be willing to move over??? That is the million dollar question... He has played 10 innings at 3B in 2014. Weren't we interested in him last offseason? I seem to remember some report about that.
  2. Yea it was just wishful thinking on my part.... There's a 99.9% chance that LaStella will NOT be a Brewer.
  3. But what happens when Lamb reverts to the player who put up a .676 OPS in 2019, or a .655 in 2018? Or the atrocious .380 he put up last season in Arizona before the Athletics picked him up? I mean, how can you determine that the 45 solid ABs Lamb had with the A's last year are the real deal, while the 58 Vogelbach had with the Brewers are a mirage? Lamb does have some solid play pretty distantly in his past, so I wouldn't mind grabbing him on a minor league deal as a flyer, but there's no way I'd feel comfortable handing that guy the starting job at 3B or 1B. I'll be honest, I dont care for or believe in Vogelbach... Lamb has at least put up a couple of good seasons and I think he was hurt in those other seasons... And Lamb at least can play good D. Just want Stearns to DO something about 1B and 3B.
  4. I sure hope you're right... I want either Cron or Moreland as our 1B, Moreland if we sign someone like Gyorko to play 3B... Then Cron if we sign someone like Lamb or LaStella to play 3B... Need to balance it out because we need at least one more lefty in our lineup.
  5. The same reason the Brewers dumped Travis Shaw after he put up near star numbers in 2017 and 2018 ... or DFA'd Jesus Aguilar in 2019, the year after he hit 35 bombs and made the All-Star team. When you don't perform, and you are not a superstar-level talent, you are always going to be replaceable. MLB is a "what have you done for me lately" business. Yep makes sense. Sadly, I think Vogelbach will be our 1B in 2021... Really sad because get us a good 3B and 1B, we can compete in the NL with our pitching staff... Oh well, maybe in 2022 I guess. I will continue to be disappointed until Stearns proves me wrong and [sarcasm]makes moves for 3B and 1B.[/sarcasm]
  6. I wish we would just sign someone that will actually contribute in 2021... We need a 3B and 1B, Vogelbach is not the answer at 1B. I don't disagree that the team needs more depth at both 1B and 3B. But I don't know if Vogelbach should be written off completely as an option at 1B, either. They at least need to determine if his 2020 showing with the Brewers was a fluke or not. I know his defensive time at 1B with the Brewers was very limited, but he looked fine there. But then why did Seattle DFA him after he was their full time 1B in 2019 and hit 30 bombs? Idk, I just really hope that Stearns doesnt see him as our 2021 1B... But if we didnt bring Jedd back at $1 mil or something, I dont think there's anyway we're spending $ on someone to play 1B.
  7. I wish we would just sign someone that will actually contribute in 2021... We need a 3B and 1B, Vogelbach is not the answer at 1B.
  8. I definitely agree on Lamb, I would like to add him. And I would be totally fine to put Jedd at 3B, see what he can do during a full season... Stick Jedd at 3B and Jake at 1B. If the Crew is keeping Vogelbach, IMO Lamb is not for them. Both are lefties and Lamb can't face lefties (career .169/.276). I'm not a Gyorko fan either, but he'd be better than starting Urias at 3B. I'd like to see the Crew go after the Rays Brosseau or Wendle. Both are payroll friendly and both play 3B. Both should come relatively cheap too. Barring that, I'm hoping they can trade Hader for a competent 3B and then use Vogelbach and maybe Cabrera at 1B. But then what happens when Vogelbach sucks and we DFA him... Lamb is the starter at 1B, Vogelbach is a bench bat.
  9. Would like Cron as well.... But then our lineup is too right handed.
  10. I definitely agree on Lamb, I would like to add him. And I would be totally fine to put Jedd at 3B, see what he can do during a full season... Stick Jedd at 3B and Jake at 1B.
  11. The Mets haven't signed Hand yet. But I never really get why anyone would exclude Hader as a possible trade target just because they sign someone like Brad Hand. You need a lot more than 1 reliever to fill out a bullpen. You can't be too deep in your bullpen. If we were signing a high end shortstop and then crossing that position off your list, that's a little different. But it's not like Josh Hader isn't important to us because we have Devin Williams. But how do we know Devin will make a good closer? Not everyone can close, we know what we have in Josh. Keep Devin/Josh and we'll be tough to beat with a lead in the 8th.
  12. Sounds like 5 or 6 yr deal, jesus... Better hope he ages well.
  13. See the Mets signed Jose Martinez. I totally forget about him, I would have taken him at 1B.
  14. I thought its already been said that none of the 2020 rules (besides 3 batter minimum) will be in 2021 season.
  15. I'll take Madrigal and Vaughn off their hands for Hader, but definitely not for Woody.
  16. Yep, I will continue saying bargain bin shopping until Stearns makes an ACTUAL move for a legit 3B or 1B. Last year proved we can't win with this cheap shopping... Gonna waste another year of this good pitching we finally have.
  17. Agreed, not a chance he will sign with us... Payroll is supposedly dropping again but we're gonna give DJL $20-$25 mil a year... Yea not happening.
  18. Speaking of playing centerfield, Victor Robles better get himself a whole bunch of new running shoes because he's gonna need 'em. Soto and Schwarber in the same outfield. Have to think the Nationals are 100% convinced there will be a NL DH in 2021. Or else they think their pitchers are going to strike out >35% of the batters that they will face. The Nationals are going to be playing Schwarber at 1B and not in the OF so not sure why this would be an issue. Where has this been said? Pretty sure Kyle will be in LF, Bell is already at 1B.
  19. Man, everyone is so quick to trade Yelich now...... HE'S NOT THE PLAYER WE SAW IN 2020.
  20. Right, I totally agree with this.
  21. Agreed on Cron, perfect fit at 1B... So we more than likely dont end up with him LOL Lamb was decent with Oakland to finish the year, idk I just want a power hitting 3B, thats just me tho... I would love LaStella but he has plenty of other interest, doubt we land him... Wouldnt mind Franco either, but I would like to add another lefty power bat to the lineup... Maybe swap Moreland for Cron then if we add Franco.
  22. Jake Lamb and CJ Cron on 1 yr deals. Cain Yelich Hiura Cron Lamb Garcia Narvaez Urias I like that lineup, plenty of power 2-7 Take a 1 yr flyer on Garrett Richards, Gio Gonzalez or Carlos Rodon Woodruff Burnes Richards/Gonzalez/Rodon Houser Lindblom Nice rotation as well!
  23. Doesn't really say anything though Haudricourt isn't really the best source for Brewers rumors or speculations. He hardly ever breaks anything concerning the Brewers actually I can't remember when Tom was the first to report anything on the Brewers that wasn't just a press release for the Brewers. The Brewers have actually become even more tight lipped in terms of information on who they are going after. Cain, Grandal, and Yelich being the prime examples of very little to nothing was heard about the Brewers pursuing these players until they were just about to sign. I did find it interesting that a team was looking at Semien to play 3B I think that was the Brewers. The Brewers are not going to be in on Bauer or the other top tier free agents but Joc Pederson has been linked to the Brewers and I wouldn't be surprised if someone like Profar, La Stella and others at some become linked to the Brewers. I think the Brewers are going to get a bargain on a starting pitcher on someone like Tanaka, Quintana or Odorizzi not sexy names in free agency but definitely guys that could be had on a bargain <$10m a year. Tanaka said its Yankees or back to Japan. And Odorizzi is said to be looking for a 3 yr deal. Honestly, I dont see us signing any of low high to middle tier pitchers... IF we sign a pitcher it will be lowest tier, Brett Anderson type pitcher.
