  1. It has been awhile since they went this route, but it wouldn't surprise me to see them grab a guy in the Rule 5 draft this year. I could see a pitcher, utility IF or 5th OF grabbed. Some of the names I like include OF Will Benson from the Indians, RP Will Kincanon from the White Sox, INF Kevin Maitan from the Angels, RHP Jose Alberto Rivera from the Astros, 3B Joe Rizzo from the Mariners, LHP Thomas Burrows from the Braves, UTL Kevin Kramer from the Pirates, and RHP Riley Pint from the Rockies. Im surprised Maitan is available, he was supposed to be the next big time international wise. And I think Riley Pint was a 1st rounder couple years ago.
  2. Blue Jays Mets
  3. Smoak and Gyroko had become baseball nomads. Both were past 30 and clearly one year stopgaps. Nunez will turn 27 in April and is controllable for several more seasons. Franco is just 28. He's a FA after this year, but it wouldn't be unreasonable to sign him to a two year deal. Franco is a proven run producer with a relatively modest strikeout rate. Nunez topped 30 HR in his first full season in 2019. For a guy with that power, his K rate is higher than Franco but fairly reasonable too. That's two RH power bats. Hopefully, they'll keep the DH, so the middle of the order will look something like Yelich, Hiura, Vogelbach, Franco, Nunez, Garcia. I would fricken love that!!
  4. Agreed... Honestly, I felt Hader was never gonna be moved.
  5. Hanser Alberto was non-tendered, he could be a good fit at 3B.
  6. Changed my mind... Sign Nunez to play 1B and Maikel Franco to play 3B. Added two power hitters to our lineup.
  7. Why the hell are we giving up on Nottingham... I thought for sure Pina was gone.
  8. Does Chavis even play 3B? I thought he was a 1B who could be an emergency fill in at 2B. Was his most played position in the minors. All Levels (4 Seasons) 1B 98 88 788.1 727 680 42 5 53 .993 8.24 7.37 All Levels (2 Seasons) 2B 60 54 477.0 216 95 115 6 32 .972 3.96 3.50 All Levels (6 Seasons) 3B 267 263 2258.2 707 160 490 57 45 .919 2.59 2.43
  9. We need a good power bat at 1B... Nunez is still young, perfect guy to put at 1B. Then make a trade for a young 3B (Dalbec or Chavis from Boston), call it good.
  10. Man, when are we gonna give Notty a decent look. I sure hope Maile doesnt make the team over him.
  11. Wonder if we could pry Dalbec from the Red Sox, I would love him at 3B... But I doubt it, he's probably their 1B going forward. Wouldnt mind Chavis either.
  12. Bohm has a lot of potential, but holy undervaluing our own players, Batman! Sorry, that should have been in blue! Haha I love all 3 of those dudes!
  13. Would love to get him but Bohm isnt being traded. [sarcasm]We would have to offer Burnes, Woody and Hader... They probably still say no.[/sarcasm]
  14. Add Carlos Santana and Asdrubal Cabrera to play 1B and 3B, we'll be fine.
  15. I've come to grips that we probably won't sign LaStella. So I've set my sights on Carlos Santana and Asdrubal Cabrera for 1B and 3B... Both switch hitters, so they play every day. Cain Yelich Hiura Santana Garcia Cabrera Narvaez Urias I really like that lineup.
  16. Agreed, I would take him as our 1B.
  17. Agreed! If Archer does figure it out, a top 3 of Woodruff, Burnes, Archer... Hell yes!
  18. My god would I love that! I would put him at 3B tho.
  19. I know it doesnt mean much but this is why I want Archer. Kyle Glaser and J.J. Cooper of Baseball America rate Chris Archer as their #1 upside signing for 2021.
  20. As long as we dont trade Woody or Burnes, I'm fine with trading our starter surplus... Never thought I would say something like that. Screw dealing Hader.... Keep Knebel, Williams, Hader and have a monster pen.
  21. I really wouldnt mind taking a risk on Chris Archer, if this price is right.... Maybe 1 yr, $5-6 mil deal prove healthy deal. Woody Burnes Archer Houser Lindblom/Lauer Yea I like that.
  22. Would love the move... But Pirates will never trade Bell to us, not gonna happen.
  23. I really like this from Schoenfield at ESPN.... Predictions for all 30 teams. Acquire Josh Bell from the Pirates, sign Tommy La Stella, re-sign Ryan Braun. Bell will never happen but still like to think about it. Edit: Added the link. Please link the source when quoting other websites. Thanks CWH
  24. Yep I said in another thread, I would gladly take Moreland as our 1B in 2021 and also take Asdrubal Cabrera as our 3B in 2021. Both could be had on the cheap, since that's what we'll be this Winter.
  25. I see Moreland and Cabrera as better players than Smoak, Vogelbach, Gyorko, Sogard... But that's just IMO. Will be interesting to see what we do.
