  1. It's more the ball than the ballpark, using the MLB ball in AAA this year has caused offensive numbers to skyrocket across the board.
  2. Pretty good considering the pathetic manager not understanding the importance of the game by running out an all time Sunday lineup then having to rely on garbage relievers for multiple innings after our All Star starter left early with an injury.
  3. Exhibit B, Lou Gehrig. Two guys in the entire history of baseball have been anle to do it so why can't everybody? Also, we're doing just fine without Yelich so far today.
  4. It's almost like maybe Saladino's -49 wRC+ isn't indicative of his true talent level & he is possibly due for positive regression.
  5. The nine guys on the Orioles with the most PAs have the following wRC+ marks... 126, 109, 91, 89, 80, 78, 73, 56 & 36. The nine guys in our lineup today & their wRC+ marks... 151, 125, 88, 85, 76, 74, 72, 71 & -49.
  6. Every other thread on the site is open for negativity, this is the OPTIMISM thread. It seems like an easy enough concept. Our pitching staff has produced the 8th most WAR in MLB since June 27th (arbitrary endpoint I know). That is a obvious improvement over how they started the season. I'm optimistic our team ERA will be lower at the end of the season than it is now.
  7. That’s the prudent thing to do IF the big league offense wasn’t underperforming the entire year. Imo, he’s ready to rake big league pitching. Maybe he is ready, maybe he isn't. Both Braun & Cain are highly paid veteran team leaders who have performed adequately throughout the season so I don't believe the organization would sit either down the stretch while fighting for a playoff spot (barring the aforementioned variables).
  8. Did we score twice tonight with a runner on 3rd & no outs? Strange things amiss in the desert...
  9. Barring injury or major performance collapse from one of Braun or Cain, I don't think we see Grisham until September. Let him play every day in AAA until their season is over then call him up for pinch hits/an occasional start when rosters expand.
  10. I've got the rough draft of my Mid Season Top 25 all slotted out, be interesting to see how many spots will have to be refilled after the deadline.
  11. Thought this was for sure going to be about the machine gun cops that have been posted up around MP the last couple two tree years. First time I saw one of them I almost jumped out of my shorts & even now that I know they're there it's still kind of startles me whenever I see one.
  12. Trout is making 34.5 million in 2023, which would be the first season following Yelich's current deal. Assuming the team stays competitive in 2020/21 & Yelich remains healthy/elite over that same time frame, I would guess the minimum extension he would consider would be something like 6/200 coming into 2022. That would be an annual salary of 32 million from 2023-2029 (ages 31-36) with an 8 million signing bonus to kind of pump up the 15 million team option for 2022.
  13. Love his production so far this season, cut his walks while increasing his strikeouts & moved up two levels from last year. Not bad for a 21st round pick out of a small school in the baseball hotbed of Utah. It would appear the organization is higher on File than Zavolas since he already got the bump to AA.
  14. Coming into the season it was Brown, Ashby, Webb, Supak & Diplan on the BF.net top 25. Small is for sure in there now. Brown, Webb & Diplan all seem to have tenuous grasps on their spots at the moment. Rasmussen is another possibility at this point, though I think he ends up in the pen. I love Andrews but think he is a reliever (& center fielder, of course!) too. My personal top 5 starting pitching prospects right now are probably Ashby, Small, Supak, Zavolas, Lazar.
  15. 2018: 105 wRC+ 2019: 101 wRC+ 2018: .370 expected wOBA vs .330 actual wOBA 2019: .337 expected wOBA vs .333 actual wOBA
  16. Given the Brewers current position in the NL playoff race I don't think Grisham (or Turang) are going anywhere. My Bob Uecker Talking Magic 8 Ball says to look for minor moves around the margins.
