  1. I agree, Moose is the better defender at 3b. He definitely has more range and is more agile.
  2. Part of me thinks...I don't want to batter the bullpen too badly as they face the Cubs next. But.....we need to win. Also Reds have a day off tomorrow so they should be fine.
  3. Swings at ball 4...at least 3 inches inside...ropes a double. Man this guy makes me shake my head but I'll gladly take the 2 runs.
  4. I think I'd be mad if Arcia swung 3-0 here...even if he hit it over the fence. Just set the bat down young man...
  5. Of course Gamel should start, but he already would in place of Yelich. Braun is a much better option than Perez, 12 PAs doesn't change that. But if he's hurt, he's hurt; my comment was on the assumption he was being rested. Is he though?...2 for 2 with a double already
  6. Some guys see certain pitchers really well, a 10-15 PA sample size against a certain pitcher can be very telling. Believe me, I play that game in my fantasy baseball league to great success.
  7. Perez is 1 for 10 with 2 walks career vs castillo. Braun is probably a slightly better option, but unlikely either are productive today against Castillo. In an ideal world, Perez should be glued to the bench barring an emergency or a PH appearance in extra innings.
  8. Braun is something like 1 for 12 career against Castillo, even without the knee...not a bad day to let Gamel take some hacks.
  9. The Brewers are approaching a chunk of the schedule that true blue's bullpenning/piggybacking/whatever would actually make sense. Over the next 23 days, we play 18 times. 5 offdays. We have enough guys with options that we can use Burnes/Peralta/Chase/Guerra as 2-3 inning relievers and have quick hooks on the rotation of Chacin/Davies/GG/Woodruff/Nelson(in no particular order)...that leaves Jeffress/Claudio/Hader for late innings or matchups(sorry Albers, in this scenario you're gone). Couple the guys we have with the cushion of 5 off days...it could work and work with a 5 man bench. That gives us plenty of hitters for pinch hitting...along with Woodruff of course when he's not starting. We'll see if the Brewers are thinking something similar. This part of the schedule is a great opportunity to carve out a lot of wins. We don't face any top teams and lots of rest. If we belong in the playoffs, this is where we need to carve out a division lead.
  10. Sure Giannis isn't the best option to take a 3 at the end of a game. But if teams don't double or triple team him on the drive...he can pretty much dunk at will on all but maybe 5 guys in the league. If you have the right supporting pieces around him, dish it off to an open middleton or brogdon or mirotic...that's a much better scenario than having Kobe take a 3 pointer contested by 2 defenders with time expiring.
  11. One of the sites had his option as $1M or something, but that was wrong it was $3.5M. And without a minor league shuttle option..... Right. If he happened to be unlucky on BABIP instead of lucky, we'd all be screaming to DFA him if he were a Brewer. Also factor in playing in a pitchers park and his stuff hasn't significantly changed since last year...it's not THAT bad of a move.
  12. I think you are significantly overestimating Greene here. He's pitched a really good 19 innings so far this year, but the last 2 years he's been about a mid 3s era reliever in a pitcher friendly park. FIP 3.13, 3.84, 4.61, and now 2.99 this year. Look at the return for Keona Kela last year. Kela is younger, has been more consistent than Greene in a much more hitter friendly environment, and has more team control...and only commanded Hearn and PTBNL. The Kela return is a pretty good template to look at for what Greene might command. That said, the market controls everything. If RH relievers are in short supply, he could command a lot more...or less if they are plentiful.
  13. 70...he is on pace for 70. Danggggggggg. I'll take your word for it. I'm still going to stick with my response in general...but crazy that he's on pace for 70.
  14. You can definitely say "it ain't over til it's over", but this series was pretty much over after game 2. Game 3 makes it a bit interesting, and the Raptors could certainly get hot from behind the arc for a couple games and make this a series...but that team has to be exhausted after game 3 though...they simply cannot run with the young/deep Bucks. Game 4 will likely be Bucks and Game 5 at home will probably be it.
  15. He definitely COULD get to 50, heck he's on pace for over 60 I believe. If I had to bet over/under on 50...I'd bet pretty heavily on the under. If that line was 45 instead of 50...I'd have to think about it but would probably take the over.
  16. I find it weird to be so exaggerated. I actually wouldn't be surprised if Moose was a bit dinged up and they wanted to give him a day. If he is, the rest of the moves make sense. Also the next 3 starters we see after this are RHP, so probably not the worst idea to get Perez a start.
  17. I would 100% be open to a minor league deal for Keon if he doesn't get a better opportunity. I would rather he found a better opportunity as a fan of his though...
  18. Lineup prediction Cain Yelich Braun Moose Aguilar Grandal Hiura Perez P
  19. Meadows looks like pre 2nd half 2018 Yelich honestly. So similar, I wouldn't be surprised if he eventually learned how to hit more HR like Yelich and become a top 10 player in the league. This was such a dreadful trade, I'm so glad they won the bidding for Archer.
  20. Being a backup catcher is primarily about defense. I would always rather have a 600 OPS backup catcher that's strong defensively than an 800 OPS bad defender. Freitas is a top notch defensive catcher. Certainly on the surface better than Nottingham. This move isn't a big deal to me but yeah I'm surprised it wasn't Freitas. Fair enough, I don't know much about Freitas personally. Just moreso pointing to the last sentence of his comment. Freitas is not the future, it's probably better to give Nottingham a look to see how he handles inconsistent playing time. I don't think Nottingham will ever be an everyday catcher...best case for him is probably an even split of playing time with another solid catcher on this team. He'll have to learn to adjust to inconsistent playing time and so far has not adjusted.
  21. Being a backup catcher is primarily about defense. I would always rather have a 600 OPS backup catcher that's strong defensively than an 800 OPS bad defender.
  22. I still think Aguilar is a good fit for the Indians, there's also familiarity there. So a corner IF trade with the Indians would probably be Aguilar, not Thames. Not sure why they'd trade for a 1b that isn't hitting though.
  23. I think we can get a little something for Thames if we look to trade him. One of those 25 year old AA mashers or something to help the system depth a bit. Maybe an 18 year old project type. Nolan Jones has more value than Turang, no chance would Thames even net Turang. I think the Yankees are probably the best fit. They are so RH, and their 1b situation is nothing to write home about...he could soft platoon with Voit and DH a bit until Judge/Stanton are back. All that said, he's a modest upgrade at best and primary value comes from being LH to complement all their RH hitters. I really don't see another match. Maybe the Angels if Pujols gets hurt and/or they start to climb into contention. Maybe Colorado if they climb back in and Murphy continues to struggle to hit. Outside chance the White Sox like his option and look at him as a solid player at 1b when Abreu leaves and someone that can maybe help with a surprise contention. The White Sox especially are an incredible reach. It's really Yankees or bust...and best case you're getting a 45 OFP prospect and salary relief.
  24. I'll give it a try Cain Yelich Braun Moose Aguilar Hiura Pina Arcia GG I personally would swap Thames and Hiura...but I don't think CC will do that. EDIT: This is updated to the official lineup.
