  1. I always hate it when the Brewers face a pitcher making an MLB debut because they never seem to do anything with them. That having been said, if this game were at Miller Park they’d probably have 3 home runs and the score would be about 6-5.
  2. How shocking that Claudio has trouble with decent hitting righties.
  3. And the Phillies decided they needed a few more runs to remove all doubt.
  4. The "just win series" mentality is silly anyway. Every game counts the same, a series win or loss means nothing, it's not volleyball. A series is nothing more than just a way of saying X amount of games at this geographical location. Sometimes you'll get swept, and sometimes you'll need to get sweeps when you can. No team is consistent enough to just win every series all the time, and sometimes you'll need sweeps to make up for a bad series. I agree. It always bugs me when the team kicks a game away but someone says it’s OK because they won the series.
  5. The Phillies apparently have decided that they don’t need any more runs and have their eyes set on getting the game over and making their dinner reservations. The “just win series” approach hasn’t been working so well lately.
  6. Maybe the Twins bats are cooling off. They only scored 8 today, which brings down their average over the last 10 games.
  7. So, Braun gives up on the game and it looks like the rest of the Brewers offense is doing the same. They’re more interested in complaining about calls than swinging at strikes.
  8. Not sure that pitcher trapped in AAA would help right now. Maybe after a few more appearances. He’s there because the powers that be, don’t want to disturb the current rotation, not because he’s not ready. So we have to watch a Chacin throw 90 pitches BEFORE the 5th inning, putting more stress on a good but overworked bullpen. How do you know that? Nelson has shown that he’s healthy but not necessarily that he’s ready to get major league hitters out any better than the current starters.
  9. And the Brewers are at bat for about 2 minutes before sending Chacin out again.
  10. Make that 9 of 12 scoring innings for the Phillies.
  11. Not sure that pitcher trapped in AAA would help right now. Maybe after a few more appearances.
  12. The Phillies have now scored exactly one run in 8 of the 11 innings of this series.
  13. The Brewers are 5-0 in games I’ve attended this year. That streak could be in jeopardy tomorrow.
  14. Looks like another day for me to take a walk and see if the game gets competitive while I’m out.
  15. Looking like another short start as Chacin labors and can’t put anyone away. Watching him right now is reminding me of watching Jeff Suppan where you just hope for the batter to hit it hard right at someone. Brewers have to get the offense going against this potent Phillies offense and with a series looming against the Twins, who seem to be scoring in double digits every other day.
  16. The Phillies offense is heating up. Hoping the Brewers can get a win today or tomorrow and say goodbye to them for the regular season with a win in the season series. I expect the Phillies to be a playoff team.
  17. I’m not going to quibble about whether to rate the Braves above the Phillies, but I think it is way too early to suggest that the playoff teams are close to set. I would definitely put the Phillies ahead of the Rockies.
  18. I think you’re underrating the Phillies. They have an extremely potent lineup that hasn’t hit its stride yet and some pretty good pitching.
  19. Hey, I enjoyed my walk and when I came back there was a game worth watching. Win-win.
  20. Time for a walk outside. Don’t see the Brewers lineup scoring this many runs against Castillo.
  21. It’s a repeat of April 28 for Milwaukee sports fans: Yelich hurt, Brewers lose, Bucks blown out. Now that the Reds have joined the Pirates in having a pitching staff that can shut the Brewers down, the “easy” part of the Brewers schedule doesn’t look so easy.
  22. Wonder if he takes the whole series off? I assume that’s a given for a two game series. Since this is flaring up again after just a couple of weeks I would think a trip to the DL is a good possibility this time.
  23. Thanks for the charts. Comparing 2019 to 2018 they do seem to confirm my impression that a lower percentage of his hits so far this year have been to left and left center, but probably not in a dramatic way. One other thought on this is that teams may be pitching him inside more than they did early last season. The Dodgers really did that in the NLCS with their never ending string of lefties. Throw him hard stuff inside and don’t worry if you walk him. The RHP throw him low inside breaking balls that are impossible to hit to left field. Those produce a lot of the ground balls to the right side, but if they aren’t low enough or inside enough they are ending up in the seats.
  24. I would be interested in seeing Yelich’s spray chart. It seems to me that he isn’t getting as many hits to left and left center as he did last year.
