  1. You can lose your role to injury or Uribe simply being the more effective reliever. Both 3.2 WAR players since 2023, interestingly.
  2. Could be interesting to see if any other MLB team ‘buys high’ on Tyler Black if he maintains a hot pace and offers a trade.
  3. I liked Spencer Jones before he had a good week of spring training. I assume we have enough position depth to not need to acquire someone else at this point, but wouldn’t this type of three true outcomes player be fun? New batting stance. An interesting contrast to the rest of the Milwaukee lineup. So far this spring, Jones is 2 for 6 with the pair of homers, four strikeouts and a walk (Baseball America newsletter)
  4. Carlos Gomez, one of the good ones 🙂
  5. With the exception of a bad 14.1 IP in 2024, Uribe has consistently dominated since 2022. Megill could regress due to injury, age and randomness. I think it is probably difficult remaining a consistent pitcher when you are 6’8’ tall. Milwaukee has a lot of out getters and if another team wants to overpay for a ‘proven closer’ 🤷‍♂️
  6. Brewers win the Cortes trade
  7. We may have achieved enough Brock Wilken (unfounded?) pessimism to ensure he has a breakout season this year 🙂
  8. Badoo, Lockridge and Wilken atop our HR leaderboard.
  9. Minor league deal, a precipitous decline in value
  10. I was just going to ask if we are ready to say we like having Murphy as our in-game manager now 🙂
  11. I will guess some of our infield prospects will learn how to play left field soon enough.
  12. Collins drew walks and had a decent swing plane. I think we can expect his ‘power numbers’ to regress in 2026 based off his nine HR last year. A lot of wall scraping HR in hitter friendly parks off bad pitchers on off speed pitches. The walk off against Diaz was clutch but even Collins admitted he was fooled and was sitting fastball. I suppose similar things could be said of most hitters
  13. How does this Nashville rotation compare to starting pitching Milwaukee had 25 years ago? Wright, Haynes, Levrault, Rigdon Quevedo and yes, Sheets.
  14. I think Milwaukee likes Woodruff and was probably not surprised by the QO being accepted. Interesting thought exercise, though.
  15. Signing 30-year olds who are 6′ 5″ seems like a predictable risk. Players rarely become more healthy and productive after they are done with arbitration.
  16. Did we want to pay 32-year old Bregman $175 million to decline in performance and block our prospects? Bo Bichette $42 million per season to block our prospects, too? Pete Alonso, $155 million? Our payroll is what it is and we don’t really need Rhys Hoskins or Matt Garza 2.0. I understand a desire to ‘do something’ in free agency but only if it actually helps the team, which is rarely the case for Milwaukee.
  17. Fair but we have nearly a dozen capable replacements on the left side of the infield knocking on the door.
  18. Kept Woodruff, got good value for Peralta. Acquired additional upside arms in Harrison and Zerpa. What more could we have realistically done? I’m not sure pushing all our prospect chips into the center of the table prior to a potential lockout would be wise.
  19. The idea that a business can raise prices by one percent and demand does not decrease by one percent means demand is inelastic, at least to a point. This makes sense because there really aren’t substitutes or alternatives to MLB if you really enjoy baseball. Businesses should maximize profit. I suppose you could watch another sport or form of entertainment. At the same time, most of the price increases are likely attributable to inflation and everything being twice as expense than before.
  20. Hard to expect much more excitement than what we received from this offseason. I expect we are still better than the Cubs.
  21. I don’t follow minor leagues as close as others but Wilken’s .876 OPS in Biloxi last season is not too shabby.
  22. Mitchell is cleared for baseball activities, which might be best shape in recent memory. 🙂 Should be ready for Opening Day
