Griffin is a former first round pick in 2014 with the Royals. Griffin has gone five innings in each of his two starts, stymieing both the Dodgers and Phillies. Megill's regression was predictable but he was throwing 99 mph and blowing hitters away in the playoffs last season. I'd be surprised if no one was willing to take a flyer on Megill.

Serious question: Does Megill lose his closer role after tonight? He's had three good outings and two bad this sesaon.

Oddly, 2001 was one of my favorite seasons. The team was .500 at the end of June. I distinctly remember Richard Hidalgo hitting a walk off home run in the bottom of the 12th against Leskanic who was in his third inning of work. Broke my heart. Sad to see Lopes go. 80 years old.
