  1. Jim Gantner and his 2,600 innings at 3B would like a word. 🙂
  2. The Brewers won 93 games last year and probably could have won 93 games without Montas’ 0.0 WAR in Milwaukee. The Mets signing Montas is not indicative that wholesale changes are required to MLB.
  3. Given the revenue generated by all teams, Is $500,000 per start from Montas that much of an overpay? He’ll probably provide multiple wins above replacement level.
  4. Montas had 4.55 ERA over 57.1 IP in Milwaukee. He had a nice August but probably won’t be worth that money in 2025 to the Brewers, anyway. I bet Montas improves some in 2025, though.
  5. MLB.com just mentioned Frelick had only three barrels in 400 batted balls this year. That seems historically low.
  6. November 29, 2016 Brewers sign 1B/OF Eric Thames Thames produced 2.8 WAR over three seasons in Milwaukee, including 31 HR in 2017.
  7. November 28, 2021 Brewers sign P Jason Alexander. Alexander had 3.82 ERA after 30.2 IP in June 2022. He ultimately ended the year with -0.8 WAR. Sort of feels like he was better than that but he got lit up at times as a reliever. At 31 years old, he pitched in Triple-A last year for the Red Sox.
  8. November 27, 2019 Brewers receive: Eric Lauer and Luis Urias Padres receive: Zach Davies and Trent Grisham ### What a roller coaster trade. Ultimately, maybe an even trade unless you think Grisham has been extra valuable. Davies pitched well for SD in 2020 but hasn’t since. He might be done at age 31. Grisham strings together decent seasons but I don’t think we miss him too much. Lauer is in Korea now. Urias is fascinating. After 3+ WAR seasons in 2021 and 2022, he is now a journeyman by age 27.
  9. Goldschmidt competing with Hoskins for ABs could be healthy. If Hoskins is entering a contract year, he will be extra dialed in - especially, if he is not guaranteed plate appearances?
  10. I think artificial intelligence caused that ship to sail a few years ago.
  11. Sad that the Brewers were losing in all of the highlights except the last one.
  12. We had 37-year old Damian Miller and to a lesser extent Mike Rivera and JD Closser. In theory, Estrada would have been a much better hitter in Milwaukee than he was. Rivera had .755 OPS with Milwaukee over five seasons and 380 PA.
  13. At the right price, hopefully. Goldschmidt’s OPS+ has gone from 177 to 120 to 98. It seems like a trend that is less likely to reverse at age 37 unless there was something physically wrong that will heal in the offseason.
  14. November 25, 2006 Brewers receive: Johnny Estrada, Claudio Vargas and Greg Aquino Diamondbacks receive: Doug Davis, Dana Eveland and Dave Krynzel ### Davis went on to have three productive seasons in Arizona. Eveland had an 11 year career, with six seasons below replacement level. Krynzel was the first top draft pick I cared about since becoming a Brewers fan. He never had an AB in Arizona. Estrada was -1.1 WAR in 442 AB with Milwaukee. We traded him for Guillermo Mota one year later. Vargas had 11-6 record with 5.09 ERA over 134.1 IP in 2007 for Milwaukee. He ended up being much better for us out of bullpen in 2009 after stints with Mets and Dodgers. Aquino had 14 IP with Milwaukee. Spent most of the year in Nashville. Conclusion: I don’t recall all the back story of this trade but it seems like a disappointing return for Doug Davis who did become modestly more expensive in 2007.
  15. Doesn’t it seem like we’ve targeted Profar for a decade?
  16. Reds seem to get the better of this trade, unless Wiemer becomes above replacement level in the big leagues.
  17. Ethan Small is a free agent after 13 minor league innings with the Giants.
  18. I appreciate the one 4th place. vote for Adames.
  19. He’s averaged 4 WAR per season over the past three seasons 🤷‍♂️
  20. I like it but do we need to extend anyone at this point? I'm not sure we want Turang into his 30’s.
  21. Which division rival do we anticipate will be most improved in 2025?
  22. I imagine Contreras requires more than $140 million. Not sure I want Soto for 15 years, either. Impressive we can sign Soto and cut costs, though 🙂
  23. Every time someone says so and so is not a “needle mover “we all have to take a drink
  24. I like when we experience existential crises after we acquire middle relievers or organizational depth
  25. There are a lot of rumors suggesting Bohm may be traded. Devin has 1.83 ERA over 235 IP, which is among the best relievers in recent memory. The Phillies’ bullpen was underwhelming in the regular season and terrible in the playoffs. A trade might make sense if 2025 is an important year for Philadelphia.
