    Chris Narveson was 26-18 with 4.65 ERA in Milwaukee. I haven’t followed the Packers for a single moment this year. I was surprised when I saw that Narveson needed to get off of the roster after today’s game..

    Contreras, Hoskins and Mitchell resting today. Not sure why Monasterio has the day off. I suppose you can pull Adames later in the game. Give the appearance of a competitive lineup for Arizona and Atlanta’s sake.

    Cubs were seven games worse than pythag in 2023. I guess Counsell underperformed less than Ross in 2024.

    If the Cubs finish this season with 83 wins, just like last year, is it reasonable to conclude that Counsell provided zero wins above replacement level? I appreciate this is an oversimplification. Just curious.

    Mathematically, it probably was difficult to expect the Detroit Tigers to perform like the 1927 New York Yankees in September based on winning percentage. Similarly, the Twins probably were not supposed to have a worse winning percentage than the Marlins or Angels. Both can happen, I guess.

    Hard to blame the team for the last three games. Arizona had everything to play for and we essentially have very little to play for this week. It’d be great to get a bye but that seemed like a remote chance.

    Peralta gets the ball in game one because he is our brand name starter. I don’t think Myers has played himself into a demotion for the postseason rotation. Rea’s last four starts are not what we would want in October. Plus, the Dodgers hit him very hard in August. Civale and Montas improved enough to possibly overtake Rea. DL Hall has been terrific since returning. How much overt piggybacking can we plan on in October?

    Ortiz or Turang will slide over to SS. We wil need a SS or 3B next year. I don’t think Monasterio or Black is a starter at those positions. There are some affordable infielder free agents, I think.
