  1. Any guesses for home opener?
  2. Peralta pitches opening day. Game 2 is TBA? Joe Ross? Sunday is Rea Junis for home opener?
  3. We can finally redeem ourselves for releasing a reliever that ultimately produced a career ERA+ of 95 to this point.
  4. Brewers will be better this year at: 1B 2B 3B SS (probably) CF RF I am optimistic the rotation and bullpen is deep enough to be effective. Yelich in LF with 3.6 WAR again seems fine.
  5. Brewers ranked as fourth best team in NL Central, per MLB.com power rankings. I realize these are pointless and losing Devin Williams hurts. However, Milwaukee won the division by nine games last year. No one in the division is meaningfully improved compared to last year, in my opinion. Brewers losing Burnes and Williams should still be considered near the top of the division. story
  6. April 2, 2001 Dodgers 1 Brewers 0 This was the first Opening Day I was excited for. Jamey Wright pitched great, allowing only 1 run over 7 IP. Gary Sheffield’s sixth-inning HR was the difference. Jeffrey Hammonds had two hits. Sadly, he only had 41 hits the rest of the year. Unrelated note: was Rafael Roque our worst opening day starter? 1999
  7. By that math, Milwaukee scores between 9 to 18 runs per game 🙂
  8. First medical report said he’d be fine?
  9. He’s right handed? It will be interesting to see who breaks camp with Milwaukee. I’d think Wiemer would most benefit from time in Nashville.
  10. Other than Marquette and Virginia, does UW have any other impressive wins?
  11. Since we have limited resources, would you rather have Houser in the rotation and Jake Bauers at 1B? We likely don’t have Hoskins without salary relief. ‘I’d want both’ is understandable but perhaps unrealistic.
  12. Also, Charles Henry Weeks Manlove from 1884. Had an .857 OPS as a 21-year in 7 PA for Altoona.
  13. Brewers 2024 1B: should be better 2B: should be better SS: Adames might improve? 3B: should be better LF: should be similar CF: should be better RF: should be better C: should be similar RP: should be similar or at least good SP: even if you replace Burnes 3.5 WAR in 2023 with replacement level, I think we have depth
  14. Where do you see 16-win regression?
  15. I wonder if team chemistry will continue to suffer under Oliver Marmol. Plus, all the legacy players are gone since Wainwright retired.
  16. Sonny Gray will likely be good. Age 34 Mikolas seems unlikely to improve in his age 35 season. Lynn seems suspect to have ERA below 4. Age 37 season. Kyle Gibson’s career ERA is 4.54. Age 36 season. Matz is seldom healthy but was effective when available. Age 33. This rotation has plenty of underperformance risk.
  17. What did Saint Louis do to improve by 20+ games in the offseason?
  18. Has any team had a more disappointing offseason than the Cubs? Adding Counsell was their best acquisition?
  19. I don’t think anyone in the division improved enough to overtake Milwaukee.
  20. Sigh. And he mostly did deliver in 2022 with .866 OPS against RHP (138 AB).
  21. In a strange way, does Hiura have an obvious path, barring injuries, of getting meaningful at bats in Detroit this season?
