  1. I don’t know that there is a right answer at catcher. I might have leaned Garcia, but I can also understand not voting for a guy who dropped down two levels and posted a sub-.700 OPS. If short-season players were eligible I would have said reward Corobo’s CS%, but I am guessing they weren’t.
  2. I don't know. They won't count against the limit until the ACL season starts and most of the releases haven't been guys who would be displaced by DSL players outside of maybe one low-A pitcher if Wande Torres skips the ACL. I think it has more to do with the fact that, between pitchers with options likely to start in AAA and guys on minor league rosters, they have 73 pitchers in full season ball right now, not even counting college pitchers who didn't make their full-season debut last year but certainly are on track for a full-season spots or guys the Brewers will inevitably sign as minor league free agents. That makes it tough on a guy like Brailin Rodriguez, who would have been entering his final year before minor league free agency likely starting at high-A The Campbell one was the most surprising to me, even with the Brewers not exactly treating him like a prospect last season, because the Brewers' only real position of depth at AAA right now is first base, presuming neither Martinez nor Clarke get plucked in the Rule 5 draft.

HuntBrett WichrowskiJadher Areinamo The top five are definitely in the order I want them. After that *shrugs*. Payne impressed enough in his few at bats to think, at minimum, he was undervalued by the pre-draft lists (while most didn't play at all, I believe he did end up with as many extra base hits as the other first round prep bats combined). Leaving out Letson, Smith and Di Turi was tough. The last spot was the most difficult, though. I wanted to include Boeve this time and didn't want to leave Areinamo or Wichrowski out, which left Rodriguez on the outside looking in.
  4. It was interesting the complete disconnect between peripherals and ERA for a number of players in short season, most notably Anthony Flores and Enderson Mercado, but also Hernandez to some extent as well. I might have gone King barely over Aparicio too, but you could put together a ton of different lists depending upon which stats you looked at.
  5. I think Made is the better prospect, but you could easily make a good case Pena had the better season. Those were just two incredible years.
  6. Unless I am remembering incorrectly, prospect status has often seemed to help swing things with these. I kind of thought Pratt might beat Adams/Areinamo/Martinez for that reason. That is one reason Hunt winning, despite being the seemingly obvious choice, is nice. It is a statement not just about his stats, but about how the organization sees him going forward.
  7. The crazy thing is you could make a case for the Jacksons being the top two full-time outfielders in the NL.
  8. Also, while Hunt and Henderson are deserving, I would like to say Shane Smith at least deserves mention. Starting for the first time in full-season ball, he posted a sub-3.00 ERA, 1.00 WHIP, and nearly 10 K/9 as a starter and finished with the lowest xFIP of any pitcher with at least 70 innings in the Southern League.
  9. Hitter will probably go to Adams or Pratt (prospect status plays a role), but among full season players, Adams’ top competition probably should be Ernesto Martinez. He definitely won’t get it, but you could make a convincing case for him to at least be in second.
  10. With Prado moving up, I believe that reduces the number of healthy pitchers who threw for the ACL squad and are still on its roster to 4. Everyone else has either been promoted, traded, released or injured.
  11. Some nice relief work from Brailin Rodriguez in what I think was his high-A debut (1 hit, 1 walk, 3 K’s in 2 1/3). Good to see him finding success this year after losing so much time and momentum to injury after becoming the first Brewers pitcher in recent memory to throw in full season ball in his age 18 season (as defined by Fangraphs). Still one of only five since 2006, including three this year (Knoth, M. Rodriguez, Cortez).
  12. I have to think one or two of the remaining practice squad spots go to linebackers. They are pretty thin there. Glad to see Jennings come back to the practice squad. Moreso than the seventh rounders, he was the guy I was looking at among those who didn't get claimed.
  13. I wonder if Huber assumes that Clifford being asked back if he clears automatically means Pratt won’t. It wouldn’t shock me if they kept both on the practice squad at least initially. I could easily see them preferring Clifford as the No. 2 while Willis learns the offense.
  14. I think most of mine have been covered already. There are of course a ton of DSLers who posted interesting metrics beyond the “big 4,” but they are more breakout candidates than under-rated at this point.
  15. The angle of the video doesn’t make him look it, but he is listed at 6-3. That’s at least fairly tall.
  16. I think the outing I saw him live there were a lot of pitches where I went "well, nobody's hitting that one." Unfortunately, for every one I said it because the pitch was absolutely filthy, there were two where I said it because he was nowhere close to the strike zone. But man, even in one of his worst outings in a rough year, you could see those glimpses of dominance that you can dream on.
  17. So, are we thinking it is safe to assume the ACL BABIP was a fluke?
  18. The like button doesn't seem sufficient, so ditto. I love following these threads and the articles to get a look beyond the box score.
  19. Not right after he was drafted, but Jorge Lopez spent some time in the DSL after some early career struggles stateside. I am not sure if new rules were added, however, to prevent teams from using the DSL to get around the roster limits.
  20. I might toss Mosby on the list. It seemed there was a stretch where he and Cox were alternating at abusing one of the backup tackles. Also, forgive me if this was mentioned earlier, but did it seem like Rhyan was taking longer to get the ball to Clifford than he was expecting pretty consistently?
  21. Yes, but in that case being a full game up would trigger a “tie” in this version of the standings. If you move it a half game, if they end up tied in real life, the Dodgers end up a half game up in the altered standings. If the Brewers end up a game ahead, they are still a half game up and thus clearly ahead. It is all semantics, but I had just usually seen a half game adjustment before this year.
  22. I’ve seen this a number of places. If you’re going to account for the tiebreaker, why move it a full game, which would still allow for a “tie,” rather than a half game, which would not?
  23. As of right now, the top 6 teams in baseball are within 1 game of each other. That is kind of nuts for this late in the season.
  24. This is close to mine, except I would flop 2-3 and 4-5. I know some scouting reports were fairly high on Shane Smith’s profile as a reliever before he moved to the rotation, and I think that would enhance his chances of getting taken in the Rule 5 draft.
