  1. I know game one is set for 7:00, but do we have any idea yet when some of the rest of the games will be played? The ALCS starts on Saturday, and I'm guessing they'll get the later time slot since it'll be more of a marquee/tv rating matchup with NY/BOS vs Houston. But, do we have any guesses as to when that Saturday game might start? Are we thinking late afternoon around 3:30 or 4:00? Would that be a solid guess? Just trying to plan my Friday/Saturday around these games, and it's hard when we don't know all of the game times. Also - I see that the ALCS and NLCS both play games on Tues/Wed next week. Because these are week day games, would they stagger these games enough so that one would have to be played during the day, or would both games go on around the same time in the primetime viewing hours at night?
  2. Just to hop on - it really is exciting to see the growth in excitement for this franchise across the state. I moved back to the state after college in the early 2000's (living in the Madison area ever since), and I swear at that time you'd see more Cubs gear than Brewers in this area. It stayed that way for most of the early 2000's until the Prince/Hardy/Hart/Weeks/Braun era started to gain traction around 2007. Then, over the next 4-5 years you definitely started to see more Brewer gear around town than Cubs gear, and I would say that it's been that way ever since. The past couple of years especially, I would say that it's pretty uncommon to go somewhere out in public and not see someone wearing Brewers stuff.
  3. I apologize if this has already come up in another thread, but I've seen some tweets going around the past couple of days suggesting that the Brewers should bring him back to throw out one of the opening pitches of this NLDS series. Boy, that would be fantastic if they did that and showed the replay of that run-scoring play to get the fans jacked up. I know the fans won't need extra incentive to be loud for this series, but that might blow the roof off the place right from the get-go. Do we have any idea where Nyjer Morgan is these days?
  4. For those now selling tickets because of these game times - can we all just promise each other that we won't sell our tickets to Cub fans (assuming they win tonight of course). Let's please try to sell these tickets to Brewer fans, so we don't have to deal with 10-15K Cub fans in Miller Park on Thurs/Fri.
  5. Yeah, if this is literally to face just one guy (Carpenter), what is preventing the Cards from just moving him back into the 3 or 4 hole in this game - which would still keep him up near the top of the order? I know some may say that the Cards wouldn't want to do this as it would be getting them out of their normal routine, etc. But, it would make total sense for me if I were the Cards manager to load up 3-4 righties at the top of the order tonight and play a game of chess here with the Brewers.
  6. I believe the rule is that if a starting pitcher doesn't get through 5 innings, but still leaves with the lead (thus not qualifying for the win), then the official scorer ultimately decides which of the relief pitchers ends up getting credited with the W. Not sure why this falls at the hands of the official scorer, but I'm almost positive that this is how it goes down.
  7. I feel a little bad for Thames since his playing time has been cut significantly over the past month here (and I'm sure that hasn't helped him get out of this major slump), but I just get the sense that he's the one guy on this team that has maybe "checked out" a bit. Maybe I'm way off base, but his body language hasn't looked the greatest when he has gotten playing time recently, and I do have to wonder if he might be the odd man out in a playoff roster crunch.
  8. No doubt....this has been an amazing last 20 games or so. A few weeks ago I wasn't feeling overly confident that we'd even get one of the WC spots, and now here we are up 4.5 games in the WC and just a game back of the Cubs for the division. Life is good right now. Win tonight and Brewer fever might be at an all-time high! Just keep winning and let's see where that takes us.
  9. I'm guessing you are joking with this statement, right? I mean, if the Brewers lost every game the rest of September, they aren't making the playoffs. And, I'm guessing nobody in Brewer Nation is going to be too stoked about that. I like your enthusiasm though.
  10. So, I have an honest question to ask: why is that power hitting 1B have so little value in today's MLB? I know that an Aggie/McKenzie trade this offseason is very unlikely, but why shouldn't we expect to get a Top 50 player (and more) back for a guy that is currently hitting around .280, on pace for around 35 HR, 100+ RBI and OPS'ing over .900. Oh, and under control and cheap for another 4 years? I realize that he's not an elite defender, and you can really only stick him at 1B - but we're also talking about a guy that was an All-Star this year and has become a fixture in our lineup as the #3 hitter. Again - I realize the Indians wouldn't give up much of anything to get him back when they gave him away two years ago for nothing. But, why wouldn't another team that needs a power hitting 1B be interested in Aggie?

  12. Yeah, I think the lack of playing time (and the shuffling between RF and 1B) is probably starting to catch up with him at this point in the season. And, it isn't going to get any better over the next week here with all of the lefties that we are set to face. He's always been very streaky, but his timing seems way off right now - and I think we saw that again last night as he just couldn't get around in time on that Strop FB and ended up popping it up to CF. Would be great if he has at least 2-3 more big home runs in his bat yet this year.
  13. While I like your passion and optimism - I just don't see any way now that the Brewers are still fighting for the division heading into that last weekend. Needed to have won last night to keep those hopes alive. At this stage now, I think I'd prefer that we head into that final weekend with a 1-2 game cushion for the WC. That might allow us to sit some of our key guys (especially our pen) to line those guys up for the WC game. I think that's our best hope at this point and would probably be the best case scenario heading into that Detroit series to finish the season.
  14. Unfortunately, I think the same can be said for the NL Central - with the Cubs, Cards and Brewers all playing each other a lot down the stretch and probably beating each other up. Throw in a solid Pitt team (more than solid against us) and a Reds team that can score runs with the best of them, and I definitely don't think it is going to be a cake walk for the Brewers or Cards to make one of those WC spots either.
  15. Yeah, let's face it - these names all suck! I'd honestly rather take my chances with Woodruff in the rotation than adding Harvey or Gio. We have no idea what Davies can provide down the stretch here, but that is also a guy that has been so good for us in the 2nd halves of the past two seasons. Hopefully he can get himself back into a groove and can be another guy to help our this rotation. At this stage, I think we're better off looking to add another bullpen arm, as I think there might be better options out there.
  16. I thought Kershaw was a F/A at the end of this season too, but his baseball reference page shows that he's still under contract for two more years after this season. What gives? Could have sworn that he was hitting free agency this offseason.

  18. We just saw the Nats give up on their season, which was pretty shocking considering their expectations coming into this season. I know it's a pipe dream with the Dodgers getting SD and TEX here before the August 31 deadline, but let's say something crazy happens and the Dodgers lose 4 out of their next 6 games to those cellar dwellars, and fall even further out of a playoff spot. Would they then consider putting some of their veteran guys on waivers? And if so, who would be intriguing for the Brewers to go after if they cleared waivers? Grandal? Alex Wood? Anyone else? Again - I know this is a pipe dream that they would suddenly become sellers in the next 6 days, but just throwing this crazy scenario out there for thoughts.
  19. Yeah, I'm really shocked that we haven't given Woodruff more of a shot this year. Wasn't his last start in Philadelphia in early to mid June? And, if I recall - he was cruising in that game before CC felt the need to pull him really early for a pinch hitter. I was hoping that we'd get to see him get a couple more starts after that to see if he could get some confidence going with a bit more consistent work, but then I think we sent him right back down to AAA after that start to clear room for someone else. I just feel like we've yanked this kid around for the past 12 months now, and I'd kind of like to see what he could do. Of course, there is no way that'll happen at this point in the season with us right in the middle of a pennant chase.

  21. Is there any way that Will Smith would clear every other team in the NL below us in order for us to try to make a deal with the Giants? Boy, that would be a fun reunion with him and Jeffress. Both guys having tremendous years, and it would allow to say adios to Jennings (just never been a big fan of his this year). Thoughts? I'm guessing that one of the other teams directly below us in the standings (Col, Phi, LA) would probably claim him before we got the chance, right?
  22. Zimmerman is definitely having a bounce back year this year, so he is a bit intriguing. Not back to where he was 4-5 years ago, but still pretty solid. I have no clue though how there is anyway the Brewers could take on even 1/5 of his salary over the next two years. So, my guess is that there is no way that a deal could get done with him. Too bad though, because it would be fun to see the WI native come home and help this team make a playoff run. I'm sure he'd be extra amped up to help his home state team.
  23. Taylor has a .203 batting average and a .604 OPS on the road this year. His Colorado Springs numbers are huge - .337 BA and a 1.018 OPS. I think he's the classic example of how mediocre batters can really get a boost from the thin Colorado air. Yikes - if that's not a red flag on a guy, then I'm not sure what is? Was hoping TT was regaining some of that prospect status this year, but those road/home splits are pretty alarming.
  24. This is actually an interesting idea, but who would we match up with them on? They'd have no need for Domingo, otherwise that could be a good 1 for 1 type deal. I'm guessing they'd probably have interest in Thames to play 1B for them, but I would hate to give up ET's big left handed bat in our lineup (even though we don't have enough room for all of our OF's and 1B).
  25. Count me in as a "No" as well. I'm sure TB would demand Hiura as I would guess that they still have an extremely high value on Archer, but like others have stated - I'm only including Hiura in a deal if we are getting a legit TOR starter back in return, and Archer no longer fits that bill.
