  1. I mean, I'm not sure why anyone thought Cooper was worth anything. 26 year old that couldn't post an OPS over .800 until he was able to put up monster numbers in Colorado Springs. It's about what I expected for him. The move was about as groundbreaking as the Twins attempting to resurrect the corpse of Bartolo Colon. If this is the only move made before the deadline I will be a bit irritated (no, not in the camp of selling the farm).
  2. Guess it says something about Cooper if this is what we got for him....yuck.
  3. Santana is untouchable unless it's an elite type of player coming back in my opinion. Almost 5 years of control on a budding star is just what we want in a player.
  4. And for those thinking we can get Gray for table scraps. http://www.sfchronicle.com/athletics/article/Billy-Beane-insists-A-s-committed-to-major-11292397.php&cmpid=twitter-premium If you want Gray, chances are the package is going to have to lead with Brinson or Hader. That's fine if you don't want to pay that price but they aren't going to accept our 6th best prospect or something and then a bunch of guys in the 15-25 range because they feel they need a certain position or something. Prospect "ratings" are overrated and way too subjective. Oakland could rate Burnes or Dubon as our top 2 prospects in the system while we think Brinson and Hader are. Who knows what their view of our system is. Surprisingly I feel folks have been fairly decent in their package ideas, alot of times it's like you say, dump our junk on them for an all star!
  5. I guess (last season and when the Bulls were actually good) 47-48% from the field and 5-6 assists per is bad these days. He was a double digit per in assists during the time the Bulls were good. Add the 85-90% from the FT line. Do elaborate on how he was supposed to be effective as a slasher when guys like Ron Baker or Justin Holiday is playing alongside him, or ball hog Carmelo? Courtney Lee is a bit player and was probably the 3rd best player on the team. It wouldn't surprise me if Rose had tunnel vision...wouldn't you also? Nobody thinks they are getting MVP possibly HOF Derrick Rose. Those days have passed. But as far as i'm concerned watching John Henson be a lead weight on this team for his salary if we can move him and sign Rose to a similar deal why not? It ain't like Dellavadova is banging down the door to start, and I like Brogdon as a super sub. For the money total trash players are getting right now, Rose for 6-8 million is a bargain lottery ticket in my opinion.
  6. Neither does Rose. Like it's hard to think of a worse fit at PG on this team. I'm in the camp of lets try something new. John Henson has zero future here and is no more than a warm butt on a bench. The bench may actually start on fire pretty soon it's so hot from him sitting on it. Sure Rose isn't ideal, but I don't really see much downside. Maybe his knees get a little better with another year and he becomes a bit closer to what he once was. You can always use slashers. Giannis can't be asked to do everything, even Lebron can't do it all himself.
  7. The fan in me says LETS PLAY. Unless he pre-agrees to a contract extension though it's a no to me, especially considering the money he's going to command at his age. The back end of the deal will end up like Verlanders imo.
  8. Darvish would be fun, but I don't see us being able to pay him this offseason so it would be worthless to me. Nor should we necessarily at what he'll command at age 30.
  9. Per Rosenthal on Twitter. This is making me laugh personally, seems the Cubs are a bit afraid of us, my guess is they're trying to raise the price so we bow out.
  10. That is not a rental. Pretty soon guys with 5 year contracts will be rentals too under that belief.
  11. "Bullpen guys are a dime a dozen." I think this season our team has made it abundantly clear that a bullpen guy worth a dime is usually worth a dime. Hard not to like selling some depth to build a little in another area. I'd like to move an OF or two as well for more pitching.
  12. They did. Hader is untouchable for me but anybody else is fair game. We turn out a good one every so often but most all don't live up to the hype.
  13. Clancy, have to hand it to you. Suter is looking like the second coming of Mark Beuhrle. If he keeps that up, he'll have a spot. But they'll still trade for Quintana, and say thanks to Garza as he's dispatched. Garza is valuable as a #5. He's not going anywhere.
  14. I wish I could play in MLB with a near .400 OBP and on pace for 40-50 HR. Man I would make a ton of money.
  15. Arguably the easiest job out of all the bullpen. Know when you're coming in, know that there are zero men on base, and know you have 3 outs to get. Unlike situations such as what Hughes inherited. It's all on Knebel, closing is overrated.
  16. Yep. And considering the current state of the franchise -- a capped out 42 win team, who lucked into a 22 year old superstar -- all of those choices look even WORSE than they did at the time. "Luck" ? Free agency is one thing but you're foolish if you think it's all luck with Giannis and Thon (and Brogdon). ALL THREE of those picks were panned pretty hard to extremely hard by the supposed basketball brains when they happened, now these same folks are falling over one another to fawn at the brilliance. The Bucks scouting leaders are very good. I am unimpressed with cap management just as you are, but Giannis is 22, Thon is ~20, Brogdon is 24, Middleton is 25, and Parker is 22. There is plenty of room for all 5 of them to grow yet, so we don't necessarily NEED to sign people that make a huge impact. We need to get deeper as a team, not more top heavy.
  17. I'm not sure how much the Marlins will need OFers, for whatever that's worth. Yelich may be having a down year but they've got 2 guaranteed OF for the next 5+ years and I'm sure they've got something in the system if Yelich isn't the 3rd. I don't know their farm, but I wouldn't mind asking what the price would be on BOTH Straily and Yelich as a package. Now's the time to buy low on Yelich because he has elite bat potental IMO. I'd give Brinson up as well as others to lock down our entire OF for many years (Santana/Yelich/Braun)
  18. I'm game for Liriano as long as the farm isn't given away. If Stroman wasn't a midget I would give some of the farm away for though.
  19. I don't want Sonny Gray because he's tiny like Lincecum and will probably burn his arm off, but some of you folks severely overrate prospects.
  20. Too bad we can't get Crowder off the C's. He's a poor man Jimmy Butler in my eyes.
  21. Said it a few weeks ago and will say it again. 3.5 games ahead on the 4th of July, let's drop the hammer on the rest of the division now and not wait around until the deadline. This is nonsense having watched the bullpen throw all those games away on a regular basis, we could easily be up 8-10 games right now. Neshek, Hand, Tony Watson, maybe even Robertson if they are looking to have someone eat salary. Trade one of the surplus OF and move on, we only have 3 spots for them all to play (2 if you count Braun as being a career Brewer which imo is realistic).
  22. Honestly if we're taking big $ on i'd much prefer going the Verlander route. Moving to the NL would probably boost his numbers and you know every time out you're getting 100-110 pitches and probably 7 innings. Worst case scenario Kate is hot.
  23. Can I issue a correction? *New York* is a cancer to players. Unless its to shed Monroe or Teletovic's salary I don't see a point to sign and trade but then again Matthew Delavadova is also another waste of money, so at the 8-10 million please give me Rose over Delly's 9.5 million. Brogdon is good but I'd prefer him be the super sub 6th man to play 30ish mins and run the troops aka a rich man's Shaun Livingston. I'd think they view Rose as an upside play who will have trade value if he stays healthy and keeps his mouth shut. This team could use a penetrator who can kick to Mids/Thon/Snell and score or get to the line if the lane is open.
  24. I like Lucroy as much as anyone....but why? Pina is providing Lucroy slash's and Vogt can handle the other side of the plate. No thank you, we NEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEDDDDDDDDDDD bullpen help.
