  1. I'd do that if that hypothetical situation was real, and then try to extend him beyond his 2019 deal.
  2. I'm good with Vogt, flip Bandy instead.
  3. Not half as dumb as drafting Thornwell and then trading him for cash instead of keeping him and NOT paying Snell 12 mil per. That really irritates me. I think Thornwell could have been a valuable piece to this team for barely any $ and maybe even the next Brogdon. Paying these scrubs like Teletovic, Plumlee, Snell (half a scrub) is really putting us in a salary cap jam. Now here we sit with pretty much no money left and the same team as last year. Wilson won't be contributing IMO.
  4. My gut says Phillips is untradeable (his value to us) and it would be Brinson that I would send. That being said I think those proposals are rich for a 34 year old with a ton of mileage, but if they wanted mid level type(s) i'd give it a thought at least. We still would need to trade for a reliever or two in that scenario though.
  5. I like the move, but would like it even more if he was able to pitch.
  6. They're busy demanding we sell high on anyone producing so we can be the Philadelphia 76ers of baseball. We aren't a 100 win team and the division is "too good" around us. We must sell until this magical 60-100 win timing happens as the rest of the division is down. We also must trade anyone who doesn't have 6 years of control. "We must be looking at different standings"..... because the NL Central is a 2 horse race, MAYBE 3 but the Cards are pretty brutal.
  7. Absolutely no to the idea of trading Thon. IMO he may be as good as Giannis or maybe even better. In my eyes Thon was further along than Giannis was in his rookie year, and Thon can actually shoot. Those two seem to have the humility and drive to be cornerstones of the franchise for the next 10-15 years. As much as i'd like Porzingod absolutely not if Thon is included.
  8. He's a living breathing body, so why not give him a shot.
  9. That should about do it for Wily Peralta's Brewers career. Pathetic.
  10. I prefer Potcoin (POT), it's only $0.13. Lol
  11. I read somewhere (not a team PR) that he was very instrumental in getting guys like Giannis here, as well as put in MANY hours since he got here...I came off with the impression that he was kind of the "brains" behind the whole draft/develop operation. Hammond also tried to take him to Orlando. Assuming that is the case I think they chose the right guy.
  12. Like I said, I think Espino is a terrible pitcher but I would use him before I would use another terrible pitcher for a third straight day. Trying to ride the hot hand most likely. Considering how bad the pen has been, he can't really go right whichever way he goes, so not sure I can blame him in this instance.

  14. Go home dirty birds! The only thing better than taking 3 of 4 in their own building would have been a sweep.
  15. I'd say why haven't they just called it. Then I remember it's the Cardinals and it makes sense.
  16. Another day another Peralta implosion. Please get rid of him and spare us the pain of watching this anymore.
  17. This is disgusting.
  18. There's a reason why PIT let him go though. He had some nice ERAs, but his xFIP tells a different story - 4.10 for his career. Last year 4.77. Even in his great ERA years of 2014-2015 his xFIP was 3.79-4.10. He has looked good in a recent small sample, but his career K/9 is 5.5; he just never was as great of a pitcher as a couple of years of good ERAs suggested. Perhaps xFIP is not reliable for some pitchers. Every year he has put in a full season (not 20 innings) the end result has been very good.
  19. How many will even watch "the Herd" ?
  20. Yawn...do you not see the bullpen on a regular basis throwing games away? We should be up like 6-7 games in the division. Until Stearns does something to remedy that horrific situation there is no point to even bringing Brinson up to "help compete." Broxton is basically a light version of Carlos Gomez. He will carry you for stretches, and then kill you for others. Not everybody can hit for entire seasons unless you are truly elite. You don't need to hit all year long either if you play great CF defense, Byron Buxton is a good example.
  21. I guess I am of the mindset of wanting to deploy the hammer on a mediocre Cardinals and what was a WS hungover Cubs team right now rather than goof around until July/August and see what we have. We should be BIGLY ahead in the division right now if it wasn't for this pen. Being patient with some of these guys is smart. Some of them will revert to their career norms...even Feliz could. What needs to happen however is churning the worst one of them. We are essentially pissing away games 2-3 times a week that SHOULD BE WINS though by not trying new things. There is no excuse for Chase Anderson to throw 21 scoreless innings amongst others and then we sit here praying to God we can hold a 6 run lead in the 8th inning. It's pathetic.
  22. I'd say thanks for the freebie tonight Cain, but we could very well lose anyway LOL.
  23. At some point Stearns needs to take a little heat for not doing something (anything) with the pen. It's one thing to have a mediocre one, but this one can't even handle MLB hitting. This could have been addressed in the offseason, ain't like we don't have the money sitting around collecting dust. Christ bring something in for a look. It can't possibly be any worse than Oliver freaking Drake and Feliz.
  24. I'd take Barraclough or AJ Ramos if they want to sell. Yelich could be elite but unless we'd want to move laterally with outfielders like Santana or Brinson I just don't see how he'd fit in. Santana may be the real deal himself, just with lesser defense.
  25. Don't get me wrong, that was a terrible play, but it was still followed by walk, single, walk, homerun. We lost because of terrible pitching. You're missing the point. Aguilar's boneheaded play took an out off the board and put undue stress on your third string closer against a premier team. If there's two outs and a runner on second, up by 3, then Torres isn't under the gun and the Dodgers aren't energized. I was there. The game changed on that play. All that followed was totally predictable. Maybe a premier closer rises to the occasion but expecting Torres to is a reach. Puh-lease. Torres is 34 and has been "good" the past half decade. Quit making excuses for one of the veterans on this team that needs to get the job done in such an "easy" situation. That said the defense this team generally plays is not good and guys should be held accountable.
