  1. Well I guess i'm glad I have my Sundays back fully now. Call me when we sign Favre. MOD EDIT: Opening a can of worms with the second half of that sentence so I chopped it off.
  2. As much as i'd like Darvish it ain't happening. Thus, its all about relief pitching for me. I like the Hosmer idea too, but wouldn't get outrageous with the deal. Thames isn't horrific, just streaky. He's like an upgraded version of Keon Broxton (who I think needs to go).
  3. You sound a bit upset about the way Stearns built a roster that just exceeded expectations by about 20 games on a very low payroll. There is little doubt that Attanasio will raise the payroll significantly. We still need to trust youth, but some of our holes will be filled with more expensive veterans, and I would not be surprised if the Brewers pull off a move that gets us a big name. I have no problem with that, as long as it doesn't change the long-term plan of continually adding young, impact talent at all levels. I guess if you consider being upset that our staff as currently constructed was flawed then yes. No i'm not sitting here stewing about every day, but it seems to me as an armchair GM that it's common sense that if you have a sketchy bunch of starters then it may be a good idea to make sure the back end is strong, or vice versa. And no, Brent Suter is not a viable starter in this league, same with Garza at this stage of his career. We sat here debating Sonny Gray/Quintana, but in hindsight the better move may have been David Robertson. That dude is a gamer and the type of pitcher we need to lock down the back side.
  4. I'd like to hear there will be an emphasis put on a STRONG bullpen if we aren't going to spend money on starting pitching. I don't want to see one, maybe 2 signings of O-K relievers that might be good, might be bad etc. There needs to be a lockdown guy and maybe more added, especially if Hader were to be moved into the rotation. This foolishness with relying on a bullpen full of guys like Barnes has to stop if we're going to be serious about winning.
  5. I was over it...until I just looked and saw if we didnt piss that game away last night we'd be in.
  6. Who will be held accountable for all of the mishaps this year? Or do we hand out blue ribbons to everyone and say "We have some momentum for NEXT season!" like is usually the case.
  7. There is a time and place for acquiring name talent to put you over the edge. Gray might have put us over the edge to a wildcard berth, maybe. We also likely don't get nearly the same look as we have at Woodruff, who has put up fairly similar numbers to Gray since the trade BTW. We are much better off as a franchise holding our chips for the most part and waiting until the core is more ready to compete. In addition, it's absolutely possible that all of Burnes/Woodruff/Hader end up being more valuable rotation pieces than Gray in the near future. 2 of those 3 are already looking better than Gray, and I'm sure we'll get a look at Burnes next year. Putting Gray into a spot blocks at least one of those guys from a look at the MLB level. I would not have given Hader up for Quintana or Gray, but Woodruff has been a primary cause of this team losing ground at the end of the year in my opinion. Not that it's his fault being so new to the big leagues, ultimately losing Nelson was the death blow. But after his honeymoon period with no "tape" Woodruff has been quite hittable. I'd much rather have centered the rotation around a proven commodity with team control and let Burnes/Woodruff etc battle it out for a position rather than sit here and pray they all pan out. At some point the can will have to stop being kicked down the road and we're going to need to get that Gray type of guy.
  8. TT and his terrible ability to draft OL has seriously compromised Rodgers over the years. Thank god the man has escapability that few have because he should be David Carr'd by now. It's inexcusable.
  9. Last one out make sure to turn off the lights please. Time to cheer for the brothers to the west I guess...go Twins.
  10. I think he'll be active on both fronts. I could see some sort of trade happening with our Phillips/Brinson/Broxton situation. He could certainly listen on anyone...Braun, Santana, even Shaw/Thames. His decision making to this point has given him so much flexibility and chips to work with this offseason...I feel like Stearns is going to blow our minds yet again this offseason, but on a much larger scale considering the ammo he has available. Shaw and Santana better not be going anywhere...dumb teams trade cornerstones.
  11. I'd think there has to be a Reds sweep to give us any shot at this point. I've seen enough Cardinals v Brewers at this point to expect the worst. Sucks to think we could have easily taken 3/4 here and been in a totally different situation.
  12. I am so sick and tired of "timeouts" mid at bat. For the love of God....
  13. Baez is really starting to move up my hate list quickly.
  14. Congrats on the last 48 hours Brewers. You really took advantage of it being handed to you on a platter that's for sure.
  15. Says the guy with an ERA over 6 this year and just under 6 last year.
  16. Lol what in the actual **** kind of call at the plate?
