  1. If we don’t have to include Burnes, Peralta, or Hiura, we need to trade for him ASAP. Ortiz, Ray, and Woody. If that’s all it would take we make the trade. Miller Park would be sold out all season and we’d be on national tv every week.
  2. I absolutely love watching Markakis throw. We should be running all day long
  3. You make that trade 10 times out of 10. What you don't do is mess up your subsequent draft picks as badly as they have.
  4. The guy already has 2.1 WAR and won’t be a FA until 2023. No we won’t be getting him for cheap.
  5. It is really unlikely that Dubon will be a centerpiece of any trade for a 3+ WAR player.
  6. So here’s the question; how valuable a prospect is Peralta in trade capital? Is he is guy who has been a legitimate 1/2 or is he a short RHP who throws low 90’s w/o a true wipe out arsenal?
  7. Realmuto has one more year of control than Lucroy and is most certainly considered the better player. While we all love JJ here, to the outside world he was little more than a thrown in like most non elite "closers"
  8. DS better pray that’s all the Reds get back.
  9. I’d rather bring up Hiura.
  10. The Brewers would be seriously selling low on Arcia. We really don’t want to see a Segura or Scooter type of stat line with someone else.
  11. Hmmm this doesn't coincide at all with Stearns' comments in Appleton. GM speak in July.
  12. Nottingham is on the 40-man. Bethancourt is not. For that reason alone I think Nottingham would be the pick if they decided to make a change. We have some 40 man fat to trim if it meant bringing up a guy who can help. But I guess the question remains why Milwaukee hasn’t promoted Nottingham?
  13. His stats and stuff are irrelevant if he can’t stay healthy. And he can’t. Milwaukee can’t take a chance on something who isn’t a true ace based on availability. I’m pretty sure DS feels the same way. A skill that gets overlooked is availability but make no mistake, it’s absolutely a skill every bit as important as his other stats.
  14. Interesting question. I’m personally not high on Nottingham at all but the Brewers desperately need a catcher at the MLB level and they seem to have little interest in him in Milwaukee. They traded for him so they must have liked him a lot and he fills a position of massive need. However, I do agree with Briggs that Bethancourt is the better overall catcher.
  15. Syndergaard is the more exciting name, but DeGrom is the better, more consistent pitcher. I hope he's the target. Agreed. DeGrom is the guy we should be targeting. Thor is really only a name at this point and we can’t afford to take a risk on a guy who won’t be on the mound every 5 days. I would assume the Brewers have no interest in Thor at his price point.
  16. I understand our system just fine but if personal attacks make you feel better, you can keep it up brother. Peralta is a guy who teams just don’t evaluate as a centerpiece of a major trade despite his excellent performance. Small righthanders who don’t throw hard will never be evaluated well. There is a reason why Pedro and Maddox were so rare and it’s because that profile is rarely successful over the long term. I’d rather keep Peralta because he is by far our ace right now and he is worth more to us than he would be in a trade. He will be shut down in September due to innings but we need to ride him as long as his performance justifies it.
  17. No question about it. Hiura is going to part of any deal for a controllable TOR type. That is seriously short-sighted thinking. Hiura or bust, no GM is that closed-minded. Keep in mind especially with Degrom, we are getting 2.5 years of control for likely over $30 million. It's not like this incredible bargain contract. Market value is maybe $25 million per year at best, and we'll be paying $12-18 million per year depending on arbitration. Yes it probably is a bargain contract, but not as team-friendly as some of you make it seem. The payroll alone, especially in the last year, will be an obstacle for bringing in talent or retaining talent. Syndergaard may not be as expensive on a per year basis as we get more team control and the early years to dilute the expensive years, and his significant injury history also drives down his value. That's part of why his value is so difficult to evaluate. Should he be valued as a top 5 pitcher in baseball, or a guy that may pitch 90 good innings a year for you if you're lucky? We don’t have a farm system capable of landing a TOR guy unless Hiura is part of the deal. Depth doesn’t matter when you are trading for controllable stars, it’s top prospects that do.
  18. He just hasn’t done enough yet to generate meaningful trade capital. He’d be a nice third piece at this point and that would mean we would be selling low. Well you assume you are selling low. He isn’t an elite prospect and is only at Low-A, that is crazy far away from the MLB level. You could be selling before he is totally worthless in a year. I just see us propose a lot of deals loaded with near MLB ready talent. Not only do I find that a bit unrealistic, I also find it to be a poor idea. For instance Ray and Lutz are both ranked close to each other in prospect rankings. We would be better off offering Lutz in a deal if it’s all already loaded with some of our MLB ready players (multiple of Hiura, Burnes, Woodruff, and Peralta). Woodruff would also likely be valued pretty close to those two. Maybe it takes another low minor league piece then, but probably still a better idea then adding yet another near MLB piece. It’s better for our farm system and the risk we take on in a trade to diversify what we are offering. Upper and lower level talent...which many big trades do. If including Lutz gets us these two then yes he is gone. I just think he is worth more to us now than he is as a trade chip since other than Hiura (who will be gone if we are to aquire anyone significant) we really don’t have any hitters that project as anything special and Lutz has that sort of potential. Or at least he was drafted high enough to hopefully get there.
  19. Machado, Machado, Machado Miller needs to move to 2B since he is a terrible SS and we need either Arcia to get it going or trade for a real SS immediately.
  20. I’m fine with going for it. We have never won a WS. If we are a TOR type and an elite hitter way then you get them.
  21. No question about it. Hiura is going to part of any deal for a controllable TOR type.
  22. He just hasn’t done enough yet to generate meaningful trade capital. He’d be a nice third piece at this point and that would mean we would be selling low.
  23. A controllable TOR type will require a minimum of Hiura and Burnes. There is no way around that on the minor league level. I’m assuming Hader is untouchable for anyone not named Trout.
  24. Neither Sogard nor Miller are starting SS on any team that wants to win. The fact that it's coming down to an actual argument regarding those two shows why we need Arcia to figure it out asap.
  25. There's nothing wrong with scoreboard watching in July when you're in first place.
