  1. Offer them Hawes and maybe we can.
  2. The O's, and yes even Machado look like a AA team so far this series. Things just seem to be working out for the 2017 Brewers. This might just be one of those years where everyone just goes right.
  3. I think the time to worry is over. It is time to admit that this is a guy who is not likely to get 600 PA in a season again. Too bad, I was actually a fan of his last year.
  4. Rookies are rookies for a reason. Guys like Phillips and Brinson are the future. Yes, they looked overmatched initially, just like Arcia did. Let's give these guys ABs over a longer period of time and develop them when the time is right.
  5. Because of Hambone and his cap guru, we are way over the cap. So picking up guys like Smart with a draft pick attached isn't possible. Absurd planning. I'm really not a fan of Hinkie and the jury is very much out on what the Sixers really have, but you have to admire his foresight. We have none and quite frankly only got lucky Giannis lasted until the 15th pick. Our best bet is to roll with what we have and hope that some of our expensive 3 in Delly, Telly, and Henson play well as role players and Parker comes back strong after the AS break. Maybe Thon makes the leap to the next level or Wilson is a strong rotation guy. Snell for $44M. For goodness sake.
  6. This is how a high draft pick is supposed to perform. I'm so tired of seeing our big guys struggle and the excuses come in post after post. This is very exciting to see. Now where does he play?
  7. Rumors say the Cubs are looking at JV. Let's run the price up on a trade. The Brewers shouldn't be trading for him though I wouldn't mind seeing Kate.
  8. Can I issue a correction? *New York* is a cancer to players. Unless its to shed Monroe or Teletovic's salary I don't see a point to sign and trade but then again Matthew Delavadova is also another waste of money, so at the 8-10 million please give me Rose over Delly's 9.5 million. Brogdon is good but I'd prefer him be the super sub 6th man to play 30ish mins and run the troops aka a rich man's Shaun Livingston. I'd think they view Rose as an upside play who will have trade value if he stays healthy and keeps his mouth shut. This team could use a penetrator who can kick to Mids/Thon/Snell and score or get to the line if the lane is open. If that's the case, then our dimwit owners should just give him the MLE and pay the luxury tax. What Woj was saying is that we are looking to spend 1st round picks to shed our bad contracts to sign Rose. The Bucks should never be trading picks unless it's to being in a young All Star.
  9. Shark would be a batting practice pitcher at Miller Park.
  10. If they trade Brogdon so we can add Rose, I might be done with this team for good. We have 3 idiotic contracts on this team and the rumor is we are thinking of attaching number one picks to shed the contracts to sign Rose. This is nuts unless we are getting KP somehow as well from the Knicks with Rose a S and T.
  11. Very deserving. I thought Shaw might have a slight chance but he isn't on the final vote candidate. Note the Cubs have one rep. Interesting.
  12. That's a good point. Marketing has been a disaster for the south side for many reasons. We have the quantity to make the trade and at least the perceived quality. Just about anyone but Brinson and Ponce could be had for a guy like Quintana. Ray, Clark, and Dubon should get it done and we wouldn't miss any of them. I would rather not trade Woodruff if we don't have to.
  13. I'm not sure of your argument. Ray has been a light hitting OF, that is just facts. Why Ray would be a better trade piece is because he still has a much higher prospect ranking than the other guys in your list and therefore should bring more in a trade. The other guys on your list have been bad as well, they just aren't top 50 prospects like Ray is currently. Now if your saying most of our prospects have been disappointing, then yes I agree completely. That's in part why we need to leverage their top 100 labels before they fall out in the next evaluation.
  14. Or we could have just drafted Gray in the first place like most had us projected to do. Face palm.
  15. "It's not always about the talent on paper - it's how the manager uses the talent and if he can get the most out of said talent, and the fight in the team. Walter Payton was only 5'10" and 205... but you try stopping him when he had the ball with the game on the line" Agreed. The MLB roster is not an elite group but CC has then playing to career highs. That's why he should be the manager of the year at the half way point.
  16. The guy is hitting and his clutch defense saved two games in June. Yes he needs to be here a long time. This is one prospect who after a slow start on both offense and defense has more than lived up to the hype.
  17. Ray has not been very good for a premium prospect and advanced bat, but he carries a high prospect rating and was the 5th pick in the draft. This is the time to trade him before teams figure out they are getting a light hitting OF. Ray as the headliner for Quintana? Heck yes.
  18. According to Fangraphs, you're right. The Brewers have a bottom 5 roster BUT they have for the most part been healthy and played to career highs almost across the board except for Braun. The Cubs and Cards are more talented on paper without question. And yet here we are on July 2 and it hasn't really been a fluke. The Brewers have played well and the Cubs don't look like anything close to the same team. Ditto the Cards. I'm not sure I see the Cards plans to do much of anything.
  19. Trade Ray for Gray or Quintana. The Cubs are showing no signs of life and the rest of the division is a joke.
  20. It will be in house or a guy we pick up from DFA/release like a Millone type.
  21. Losing Anderson for what I have heard is at least a month isn't going to help.
  22. He'd be worth picking up on the cheap once he is released just to get the book on the Cubs pitchers.
  23. Pitchers are so brittle these days. Im sure we could all day as to why, but regardless, its time for the DH. 13 man pitching staffs and guys getting hurt just swinging the bat or running to first base is not good for the game.
  24. Im going to leave the political comment alone because thats the last thing another internet board needs to discuss, and Im guilty of it far too often. But it would be incredibly naive to think Thon was drafted at 19. There is way too much going on there to think he is only 20 currently. I do think he will be a remarkable player for us, so Im glad we have him but I think its very safe to say that he is about the same age as Brogdon, who I am also glad we have. What a draft!!!
