  1. At Spring Training in 2016, Attanasio was interviewed about the facilities issue. He made VERY clear that the Brewers wanted to get the issue taken care of and quick. I doubt he would have made those comments if Spring Training facilities were not a primary concern for the front office. Here is a link to the February 2016 interview: http://m.mlb.com/news/article/165468730/mark-attanasio-brewers-spring-training-home/ That was about 20 months ago. Based on the way he talked, I thought we would have had an announcement by March 2017. I live out here in Arizona and don't have much to add except for the fact that I know a lady who works in facilities management for the City of Phoenix. She is not a higher up, but has enough knowledge to tell me that the City of Phoenix is no longer interested in the Spring Training business. They wont be sad if the Brewers leave. The Maryvale Stadium would likely be gobbled up by a re-developer and turned into high density apartments or housing.
  2. Yep. I believe a number of publications had Solome as a top 5 prospect in the Brewers organization for a number of years. That is very significant because that was a time when the Brewers system was loaded. I think the reason people forget Salome is because of the emergence of Lucroy and Maldonado.
  3. Angel Salome. I really thought he would turn into something as he was part of the Fielder, Hardy, Weeks, Hart, Gallardo group of prospects. His MiLB numbers were always good. I honestly have no idea what happened to him. It looks like he retired after the 2011 season.
  4. I could see Santana being traded this off-season, however it likely only occurs under one of two scenarios: 1. Santana and others are traded for an ace like Bumgarner. The problem here is that MadBum is only signed through 2019 which would make this trade Greinke2.0. I doubt the Brewers would be looking for someone that is only controllable for 2 seasons. 2. The Brewers re-stock their farm system by sending away Santana for 2 top 100 type guys. This move makes room for Phillips and Brinson. I see this scenario as being infinitely more likely. The Giants do not have anywhere near the prospects needed to get this done. Other than Beede, I dont want any part of their system.
  5. I definitely would not want him as a starter. If the Brewers scouts see something in him I could see a one year guaranteed deal as a reliever. The problem is that he was really really bad as a big leaguer in 2012-2013. Unless something major has changed I dont see him being an above average big leaguer now.
  6. He does have value now, which is why they should try trading him this offseason. What concerns me the most is Braun in '19 & '20. His defense is bad and only going to get worse, his bat isn't what it used to be, and we all know of his injury history. What will he look like in a couple years at 35-36 years old? '19, '20 and beyond the Brewers could really be entering their competitive window IMO and I worry they could have a useless Braun at that time taking up $15 mil on the payroll. If some team is willing to take him on now, even if nothing comes back in return I would probably jump on it. It makes even more sense for the Brewers considering the clogged OF. Highly doubt it happens, though. As others have said, I think that window closed on August 31, 2016. The only way the Brewers trade Braun now is if they eat 80% of his salary.
  7. http://m.brewers.mlb.com/news/article/257039266/brewers-ryan-braun-looks-back-on-2017-season/ This new information brings forth three possibilities. 1. Braun could get healthy in the off-season and be productive in 2018. 2. Braun has aged poorly, will get injured again in 2018, and his career might be about done. 3. A $20 million 4th outfielder sucks, but maybe the Brewers need to utilize Braun as their #4 outfielder. This would limit his time in the field and hopefully keep him healthy. He could be used as a pinch hitter in key situations. If used properly, like Jesus Aguilar this year, he could be a key contributor.
  8. I like almost everything that has been said so far. I have two comments to add. 1. I believe Brent Suter deserves a shot at the 5th starter spot. He continues to give a good 4-6 innings every time he gets a start. Keeps hitters of balance and knows how to pitch. I believe Suter is more than a LOOGY. 2. I would not even consider Hader in the rotation. Hader has been electric as a reliever. I would groom him to be the closer of the future like the Brewers have done with Knebel. So, with that I suggest: 1. Anderson 2. Davies 3. Woodruff 4. FA Signing/Trade Acquisition/Scrap Heap Pickup 5. Suter
  9. Cubs opening up a big lead on the Cardinals. Cubs bats seem to be really really heating up.
  10. The Arizona Daily Star (Tucson Paper) ran a follow up on efforts to land the Brewers. The author believes a new stadium will need to be built. http://tucson.com/my-two-cents-tucson-must-have-drive-to-land-brewers/article_f444cc22-8ac3-11e7-9354-e36d67ab595e.html
  11. I agree with you 100%. I got to see Lutz play two games this summer in the Arizona League. I hate comparing players to big leaguers, but his strength, size, and athleticism remind me of Mike Trout. When the Brewers drafted Lutz I didnt like the pick because I thought his swing was long. I spoke to a scout at the Arizona League game that said the Brewers were in the process of rebuilding his swing from scratch. If the Helena results are tied to the swing change, Lutz could be a Top 100 guy by mid-2018. I will be interested to see if someone runs a story on Lutz this off-season.
  12. I'm thinking more and more its the Rockies we should be watching. Not the Cubs. The Rockies have lots of games remaining against LA and AZ. They very well could go .500 down the stretch.
  13. The cardinals have 4 hits and the Brewers have walked 3 guys. They have 5 runs. That is disgusting.
  14. Yep. Unfortunately I think the best chance to make the playoffs is to beat the Cubs directly, or maybe catch the Rockies. As I mentioned above, the Rockies have lots of games against LA and AZ remaining, so maybe they tank it the rest of the way. However, the Brewers do not play them head to head so the Brewers have zero control over how they finish.
  15. Marlins have been playing good ball lately... Also, 22 wins puts us at 90 wins for the season. Do you think it will take 90 to make the playoffs? That seems high to me. Not saying you are wrong, just curious about your thoughts on that one. The Cubs seem to be coming alive at the right time. Moreover, their remaining schedule is pretty light. They have 31 remaining games. 15 are against the Braves, Pirates, Mets, Rays, and Reds. I'd put the over under on their win total at about 20. That would give them 91 wins. As for the wild card. I don't think we catch Arizona, we are 6 back of them and they just got Robbie Ray back and they are playing really well. Maybe the Rockies go in the toilet as they have tons of games remaining against LA and AZ. I still think its takes about 88-91 games to make the playoffs.
  16. I think the biggest effect of the early success is that it forced the Cubs to make some moves. I for one am very happy we will not have to face Eloy Jimenez or Jaimer Candelario for the next 8 years.
  17. I doubt it. The Brewers have 7 remaining head to head games against the Cubs. Go 5-2 and things become very interesting. Moreover, the Brewers have a stretch coming up where 12 of 15 games are against the Reds, Pirates, Marlins. That said, the Brewers have 30 games remaining. To make the playoffs, I'll bet they need to go 22-8 or so. The 4 game dumpster fire against the Twins was not helpful.
  18. Barnes and his straight as an arrow fastball. Yuck.
  19. Good post. Villar has been terrible for the entire year. IMHO he should not be hitting above #7 in the lineup. Hell I'd put the Pineapple in front of him.
  20. Hernan Perez finally out of the lineup. Thank god.
  21. Fun fact; since July 1st Perez has walked twice in 98 AB's. I was recently looking at Perez' numbers. Batting average is bad. OBP is bad. Really no reason for Perez to be on the roster, much less hit 5th.
