  1. Judging by our luck with SS prospects in the Top 100 (or former) this century I think we should just sign a veteran to man the position...I think we are just cursed at this point.
  2. Not even 20 years old and pitching in the majors...and he is from the United States (no advantage of pro ball starting at 16). Rick Porcello and Clayton Kershaw are the most recent US kids to make it that fast as a pitcher....both were slightly younger than Weathers is. Edwin Jackson debuted on his 20th birthday.
  3. I think he goes for a prove it deal. It has been quite awhile since he was good. I don't see a team giving him a nice multi-year deal. He is young enough to swing a 3-4 year deal if he has a nice 2021. Maybe a team would go 2/$16mil...but I don't know why he would do that, might as well bet on yourself. Not hard to get decent cash as a LHP year to year as long as you are half competent.
  4. No, not officially. I noticed I didn’t phrase it right, but figured it’s kind of irrelevant in the grand scheme...the option will get declined even if a mutual reunion were to happen this offseason. Doubt they are feeing nice after a rough financial season to hand him $11mil. The better question is are we actually going to save $11mil or will Braun return...thus eating most of that planned savings.
  5. I think TV viewership is up this season...for obvious reasons. I would imagine TV viewership in general for any program is up quite a bit in this climate. I don't think they will find any negative effects because of COVID. Brewers are going to get way more than $7mil a year increase in a new TV contract...their TV deal is very outdated. The Royals/Pirates are good comps at about $44mil a year. The Royals have a shorter term deal of 7 years which is similar to what we are just completing. Both of those teams started their deal this year so that would be fairly accurate comps. Of course many teams have found themselves agreeing to deals of 20-25 years. If they went that route that may give them a bit more yearly. Of course the downside is the TV deal might be really outdated and undervalued towards the end. $44mil a year would be an increase of $16mil. Declining the option on Ryan Braun saved $11mil. His option was only $15mil and I believe he gets the $4mil buyout regardless of who declines the option.
  6. At one point he straight up said Rodgers when Ryan threw the ball and didn’t catch his mistake at all.
  7. Pretty sad when you tackle the receiver and you still give up a wide open touchdown.
  8. I don’t expect Dillon to get 15 attempts...but it shouldn’t take much understanding to run up the middle on the one yard line...it’s pretty straight forward. Not like you are asking him to block JJ Watt by himself. I’m not heavily on the hate train, but it is a bit shocking Dillon never gets any of those meaningful short yardage runs.
  9. Does Nottingham have an option? I believe he can be optioned one more time. If so I would guess with 99% certainty we will see a Narvaez/Pina tandem. There is simply too much potential with Narvaez and he is controllable in both 2021 and 2022. After such a terrible year he won’t cost much next year, no huge arby raise coming his way. Considering Narvaez is left handed it makes too much sense to give him another go with Pina as the right handed counterpart. Nottingham showed some promise, but Pina has a track record of consistency and is a reliable veteran.
  10. MVS is never going to be a legit receiver. Dude just isn’t that good in the grand scheme.
  11. Keston Hiura is going to play 2B until there is a NL DH...then I imagine he will play between 2B/DH. Even if the DH doesn’t come next year to stay, when is the next CBA? DH isn’t far off regardless.
  12. We knew the 1st round pick was a waste in the short term...but wow, why did we draft AJ to waste him too?
  13. Lol, that was incredibly dumb. That was a joke right?
  14. I can’t imagine there is any chance Haines returns.
  15. Matt Patricia now the king of “how does that guy still have a job”.
  16. Not sure why he was pretty good this year. Half his walks came in one game and half his hits came in another game. Take out those two appearances and he was pretty stellar. Actually, after his 5 walk disaster he didn’t give up a walk in his last 11 appearances. Sounds better than just about every bullpen arm in baseball. I get some PTSD after that 5 walk performance, but that was one of his lone blemishes all year.
  17. I’m really sick of them hyping up the payroll as some kind of crippling size and then comparing it to how big the payroll was nearly a decade ago the last time we were competitive.
  18. To me it's a no brainer. 1. Narvaez 2. Nottingham 3. Vogelbach Obviously
  19. Is the FA class really that bad I just saw Asdrubal Cabrera mentioned as a 1B option?
  20. I’m not saying Hiura is a slug, but to hype him up as fast and athletic is really stretching it. I’m guessing he is probably average speed wise and his reaction time at 2B isn’t all that impressive either. While his throws are by far his worst defensive problem his decision making, double plays, and fielding the baseball are all average at best. His defense is just not pretty. I have little confidence he could dig balls out of the dirt at first, nor should we want a 1B the size of a smurf to throw to. Not to mention, what value does Hiura even provide at a different position? Strikeout prone first basemen that can’t play good defense are already worthless. The only place they can ever seem to find a job is the Milwaukee Brewers.
  21. Yah, if his wife is any indication he decided to retire before the season ended.
  22. I’m no expert on 4th starters, but Ben Gamel seems pretty decent. Career .720 OPS and can handle all three positions? Reliable veteran that you know what you are getting for $2.55mil seems like a decent price.
  23. I don’t think he is terribly motivated to play another year. The way he made it sound was that he was going to retire before COVID made this season kind of lame. I don’t think he plays anywhere other than Milwaukee. I don’t see him going elsewhere to “try and get a ring” because if that was remotely important he wouldn’t have wasted his entire career in a place like Milwaukee. We would probably have to promise a starting spot somewhere and at least $5mil (plus he gets the $4mil buyout). Maybe money wouldn’t be any issue, but us wanting him and us having a spot would be.
  24. Maybe Stearns should give him decent infielders, then Sogard wouldn’t be a good option to play. He gave him Gyorko and still played Sogard over him. Maybe the first few weeks of the season they flip flopped a bit. That’s pretty standard as they work out playing time. They quickly weren’t even playing the same position once we dropped the crummy first basemen.
