  1. Domingo Santana has struggled for a few months and now we are going to package him with a solid pitching prospect for a rental. Ignoring the fact he was an above average hitter over the course of 4 years before. I don’t think his power has disappeared forever. Yikes, no thanks. This trade looks horrid for us.
  2. Yah, not sure the depth really exists. Maybe depth as in quality #5 and #6 type guys. Not really guys we want to be staples in our playoff run THIS YEAR. Suter- really shouldn’t want him starting every day Davies- People really pushing the “struggles early on narrative” to feel better about his dismal season. Woodruff- Has left a lot to be desired and also doesn’t seem to be the go-to guy you would think the Brewers should view him as. Peralta- Without creativity won’t last anywhere near October. Burnes- we sent him to the bullpen and obviously don’t view him as a starter this year. Chacin and Guerra have been nice surprises, but is either actually capable of what they are doing?????
  3. Might be a sign Brad Miller is getting the call soon. Pretty clear the Brewers got Miller to try out at SS and Hager has played only SS this year.
  4. I’ve found this whole Nelson situation hard to follow. There were reports in spring training that the Brewers were hoping to add him to the rotation in June and even Nelson was hoping to be on the mound in April sometime when he came into spring training. Then the supposed shutdown was planned. So I guess there were a ton of false reports and Nelson was clueless on his own rehab thinking he was going to pitch off a mound after getting to 150 feet...instead he went into a planned shutdown for nearly a month and had to start the throwing program. Weird stuff. Doesn’t seem like there would be any major reason to hide any setbacks.
  5. That’s too much upper level talent in my opinion. Not that overall the value is off, but you shouldn’t be trading 5 guys at AA and above. You could probably swap out Grisham for something else.
  6. I’ve seen a lot of members in other threads throw out all kinds of Nelson timeline comments and I felt the Nelson comments were getting a bit off topic so I will reply here instead. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.cbssports.com/fantasy/baseball/news/brewers-jimmy-nelson-still-positive-about-recovery/amp/ Above is an update on Jimmy Nelson and where he stands. It unfortunately doesn’t mention how far he is throwing which would be pretty beneficial in guessing his return. From the sounds of it an early August return is best case...end of August is probably the worst case scenario. Later than that he would probably have to suffer a pretty big set back.
  7. I’m not going to make any definitive comments about Nelson...because honestly I see a lot of people throw things out there on a topic they know little about. Nelson is not a typical shoulder injury so he is even harder to predict. That being said where Nelson is at in his rehab is a total mystery to us. We haven’t had an update in awhile and even when we get an update we don’t know what that means for Nelson. We don’t know the pace of his rehab like the Brewers know internally. We can point to past examples, but honestly that can be really inaccurate. The Brewers don’t have to give updates so it is possible we have missed good updates or missed bad updates. We just don’t know. You can probably bank on Nelson being healthy by September, but I don’t know how much you can bank on his impact. Our rotation isn’t good, but there really isn’t any dead weight. So not like he is an automatic improvement anywhere regardless of how he performs. Regarding his pitch count or innings being limited upon returning...that seems wrong. I certainly don’t think his injury is going to impact that outside of his first couple starts back. He won’t get much work in before winter...not sure that will be much of a concern.
  8. The first pitchout is fine...the second, unacceptable in my opinion. Why go down 2-1?
  9. If we take our good bullpen and burn it out (which I sadly find a wee bit too likely) this team is going to go from really fun to watch to not even wanting to turn it on.
  10. The bullpen is good. Yah they weren’t going to be like the first two months forever...but this team gets “meh” really fast when you take out the insane bullpen and put in a more realistic one.

  12. I try not to look into those number too much. We will see what comes of it, but you are rehabbing...not exactly trying to win. It is much like ST where you may just be working on certain things. I’d have to think he would really have to bomb his rehab games to not get a rotation spot
  13. That beer can just sprayed beer farther than Orlando Arcia can hit a baseball.
  14. I think you just told us why we should worry. Heat of the pennant race and we must depend on call ups to keep us afloat...sounds real promising.
  15. A lot of people are going to compare this to Hader, but I don’t see it. Burnes has looked like an MLB starter his entire career. Josh Hader has pretty legitimate concerns that had a lot pointing to the bullpen. There are many possibilities here. They could just see Colorado Spring not helping him and figure promoting him later in the season as doing nothing negative for his development. I also could see them moving even more toward the super pen concept. It worked with Hader and he is arguably one of the most valuable pitchers you can throw out there. Burnes could be a big impact in a similar role. Strengthens the team this year without giving anything up at the deadline.
  16. I’d ride him as long as he is pitching well though. If he is pitching well you probably take him out eventually so he can go to the bullpen. Which honestly with the stuff he has I wouldn’t be surprised if he is limited to possibly be in the bullpen down the stretch. Could have a big impact.
  17. You don’t like Davies? I’m a little confused on that. I miss something? That's wildly unlikely. If Peralta shows enough, maybe Suter shifts to a swing role. But Davies is locked into the rotation. Certainly possible and probably more likely. Depends on how Suter is looking when Davies is ready.
  18. You don’t like Davies? I’m a little confused on that. I miss something? Well, I don’t necessarily like Davies. Not that I totally despise him with some crazy bias by any means. He has looked terrible all year and has shown little hope. Guess I’m not optimistic he will turn it around this year. Afraid back end rotation numbers would continue. We need more than that with this team. Freddy Peralta offers more of a ceiling...though I’m not a huge Peralta fan either.
  19. Everyone concerned about Boone Logan and I’m just over here worrying about if Peralta can show enough to keep Davies at AAA.
  20. Yup, seems like they are just trying to control his innings. Don’t think there is anything to it past that.
  21. The Royals affiliate is almost 23 years old on average...wow.
  22. Yah using Thames seemed...odd. Where was Pina? Might as well use him.
  23. Why can’t Herrera or any other good bullpen arm be a target for the Brewers? We have built our success off the bullpen and have a pretty weak rotation. Limiting rotation innings and having even better bullpen arms sounds like a good way to improve. Maybe not a focus at the deadline, but I wouldn’t mind a good value add if it comes.
  24. Lefty pitching, good move, and a good catcher. You just pray for two hits.
