  1. Yep, definitely. It wasn’t an issue for Jim Palmer because he only played in spring training during his comeback attempt. Is there anybody who thinks the comeback attempt would not be an attempt at exactly what brwrsfan described? Palmer was already in the HOF at the time of his comeback attempt too, interestingly enough.
  2. Haha I have got to admit, there was a part of me that was afraid the cardinals would pick him up.
  3. Wow. Having never been there, I never would have guessed prices that high for spring training game tickets. Hell, when I saw the thread title I halfway wondered if they even charged admission at all for ST.
  4. I don't disagree with any of the above. But, as far as the approach to take I think it depends on weighing potential long term vs short term goals here, with regards to your 2nd paragraph in particular. I agree Perez should bring more in terms of trade value. On the other hand, my opinion is that Perez also would be of greater benefit to have as the 25th man in 2018. So then to me it becomes an admittedly oversimplified question of: Is it better to have Villar as 25th man and an ok prospect gained from a Perez trade, or have Perez as the 25th man and a pretty dicey prospect from the Villar trade? If it were my decision I would tend to prefer option B, personally.
  5. Thank you, I will try that out. I've been using Ghostery for a few years but evidently it wasn't cutting the mustard.
  6. On a different note, last night's game was my first time watching on espn3, as bandwidth issues prohibit it where I live. The timing and randomness of ads during the broadcast was pretty bizarre. I couldn't figure out whether that is a product of the webpage, or if they actually just insert commercials in the broadcast while play is still going on the court.
  7. I'm not even thinking about whether they get into the playoff picture unless they beat michigan and then retain the axe. After that I may begin to dream. Tomorrow night I'm going to set forth nearly 4k miles on a redeye to take in my first game at Camp Randall since they beat michigan in 07.
  8. That is just too awesome. Congratulations.
  9. Still I am plagued by the same issue. Today we finally flew as far as Tuntutuliak before we encountered ice fog and had to turn back. The struggle will continue in the morning, hopefully with better results.
  10. On a different note, I was so hoping Arkansas would lose to the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers yesterday, I was bummed when they pulled it out and won. I figured if they lose to the worst team from the Sun Belt conference, Bielema would probably be unemployed on Monday.
  11. There can't be many Brewer fans wearing Sheffield jerseys. You might in fact be the only one.
  12. Agreed, but the size of the "if" means I want nothing to do with that signing. 100mil/4 years when we've got a lot of true potential in our prospects smacks of a regrettable move.
  13. Weather holds. Sitting in the air terminal all day waiting for fog to lift so I can get to Kipnuk, smelling avgas vapors wafting about, amidst myriad crying babies, sugar buzzed children and a generally laissez faire approach to control is beginning to bug me today.
  14. The cubs fired Bosio, that ought to fix all their troubles.
  15. That'd be a killer jersey to have.
  16. Agree with what is above. Wasn't a big fan of the pick, underwhelmed with results thus far. I took some time to look over the results for guys picked in the first round after our #5 Ray pick. Just from a statistical standpoint, Ray is very underwhelming as we all know, but so are quite a lot of the round 1 picks so far. At the time of the draft I was hoping we would take Puk. Now with hindsight, I wish we'd taken the #17 pick Forrest Whitley. In any case, Ray is who we've got and I'm just hopeful he starts to put things together in 2018.
  17. I do not wish to speak poorly of the deceased, but when Cravy was not a good enough pitcher to make the opening day roster this year, his act reminded me a lot of Capellan's.
  18. A couple guys 10 years ago who blossomed after leaving our system: Grant Balfour and RA Dickey. When Dickey had a nice year for us in Nashville in '07, he couldn't crack the big league rotation that featured the downward trending Suppan, Bush, Capuano and Vargas, nor the bullpen that gave 50 innings to Chris Spurling. Granted, it wasn't until '10 when Dickey really hit his stride in the big leagues, so it's a bit of a reach to think he was going to make it with Milwaukee, but we'll never know. Balfour had eye popping numbers in AAA Nashville that year 1.87 era, .929 whip and 14.1 k/9. But in an awful 2.2 big league innings he didn't get the rent, and out the door he went. To Tampa Bay, where he scuffled the rest of 07 before lighting it up in 08.
  19. Also, if Dusty has any sense at all he will get Gio out of the game asap.
  20. I don't know, but I hope the nationals keep pouring it on. I don't just want the cubs to lose. I want them to lose 34-1.
  21. And if it does come down to that, I will do something I have never done before in my entire life. I will root for the new york yankees. That makes my stomach feel sick.
  22. Somebody needs to knock the cubs out of the playoffs. I cannot stomach the thought of another chicago championship. The nationals never manage to do anything in the playoffs. I hate the idea of rooting for the dodgers, but I will do it without hesitation if and when it comes down to that. Fly the L.
  23. I'm amazed by how badly starting pitchers have fared in the postseason so far this year. Bauer, Keuchel, Verlander, Strasburg and Hendricks had good starts and the other 11 to start games have...struggled.
