  1. There needs to be a greatest hits compilation video of Garza's awful throws.
  2. That's what is for me the most irritating thing of all about the cubs, their fan base. They have some good fans, but they also have such a large base of broseph fans who couldn't tell you anything about, say, Ron Santo if their life depended on it. I'm thinking these are the types Lee Elia was talking about.
  3. 6/21 4-3 win over the Pirates. Only game I made it to during my summer visit. Dad and I had good seats, Domingo had a 2 run shot in the 7th to take the lead, and the final out on Arcia's web gem spin throw to Thames.
  4. I wish I would have bit on this thread. It would be fun to see and laugh at my predictions. Next year. This thread is great perspective for us today. After we indulge some brief lamentation in the could haves and would haves of 0f 2017, let us not forget that this was all in all a very good season. There is indeed plenty to be excited about for 2018.
  5. What was that comment from BA about? "Looks like he's throwing it from 2nd base." I don't follow.
  6. [sarcasm]Yep. When I look at Thames, wimp is the first thing that I think of.[/sarcasm]
  7. Thanks to SDP for their lovely pitching performance today to help us out.
  8. In the spirit of Jericho's notion above: (Not sure if this has been brought up downthread, but...) During cubs series, sell Old Style and Zima at $20 apiece.
  9. All year long with this team. Just when I start to truly believe they show you not to believe in them, and when I feel like giving up on them, they show you not to do that either. What a season it has been.
  10. I don't know that I can discuss the past 3 games in any family friendly fashion so I have opted for angry silence. Sometimes I really hate sports.
  11. Of course. Our team doesn't have a big dumb red C on their costumes.
  12. I wonder if one of the Moderators could tell us something. Does the bf.net cuss filter give you alerts and statistics for how many cusses it filters, say during a given day? If so, how does yesterday's IGT rate in terms of cusses thwarted? And what is the cussingest game on record?
  13. Now I'm curious... edit: see the answer now after I post.
  14. That's the way it goes when the Brewers face a guy with a name like Brault with an ERA around 5. Be happy if we manage to get a hit off him.
  15. I was busy hunting and just learned the awful news. I'm no expert but I had rotator surgery over 11 months ago and I'm still not 100% but getting closer. Granted, it's a different animal with the labral tear, and we don't yet know the extent, or if he'll need surgery, but at the end of the day, a shoulder operation is long row to hoe. There's a lot of things in and around the shoulder area that get very angry and very weak for a very long time. I seriously hope he doesn't need surgery, otherwise I wouldn't expect much if anything for 2018. As for the NL DH talk...we've been bitten by pitchers hitting this year, but I remain steadfast in not wanting a DH. I thoroughly enjoy Brewers baseball so much more than when we were in the AL. Best wishes for Jimmy.
  16. That is among the craziest boxes I've perused throughout the 2017 link report.
  17. trwi7 that is surprising, and telling. I guess I remembered Carter starting 2016 hotter than it actually was and figured it would hurt him more. I'd imagine the front office is going to be thinking long and hard about what to do with the situation.
  18. Is he though? April is the only thing keeping Thames from being worse than Carter last year. Carter - .222/.321/.499 Thames from May-now - .207/.316/.429 Just think how bad Carter's numbers would be if you took his best month away from him.
  19. I don't know if I've ever been more glad to have not seen a game.
  20. I may have said this before here and I'll likely say it again. I hate when a Brewer heads to first after a 3-2 pitch. The ump, for one reason or another, just has to ring him up then. For some reason you have to stand there and wait for him to give you the bb, otherwise he will ring you up. I've watched it for a long time. Umps have egos. edit: I am talking about a borderline 3-2 pitch.
