  1. That is bologna. If you want to see a video textbook definition of the football term "spearing" then look no further than the Hall hit on Nelson. It was lead with the crown and it was a cheap shot. I figured he would be DQed from the game and after that didn't happen I figured a Packer was going to take him out of it. And in my book, justifiably.
  2. There are holes in this team like there are in most, but you cannot rule out the possibility of a championship when they have healthy Rodgers and Matthews on their game. This reminds me a lot of 2010.
  3. I agree with Brewcrewdue80. I'd have no problem with seeing Rogers back in the fold with the hopes he can put together a better season at AAA and for 1b insurance and/or ph duties. He had a tough 2016 but I really liked the bat skills he showed in 2015. Hopefully he hooks on with a good opportunity somewhere, he's one of those guys I just have to root for.
  4. Something sounded familiar tonight watching Nebraska win at Indiana on BTN. Turns out it was Cory Provus. I had no idea he was covering NCAA men's in the Twins' off season.
  5. Thank you for the link. Great to get some insight on those later round guys. Also, for all you fans of names, I learned reading this that in the 33rd round, Atlanta drafted a catcher named Handsome Monica.
  6. I cannot for the life of me understand going for it 4th and 3 on the 22 in the 2nd quarter. That was a stupid call and the Pack was lucky to not have it come around to bite them in the end.
  7. Intentionally tanking for a draft pick should never enter into your mind. There is just no place for that, and you don't want that kind of mentality ever to strike the team. If we suck, we suck, but we will not suck on purpose for the sake of drafting higher.
  8. You never know what can happen in ST, too. Not to jinx, but anyone can sustain any type of injury. For that reason alone, this is a nice move in my opinion. Non-guaranteed contract, so a pretty minimal sacrifice made for at least a hedge.
  9. True. Still agree with your earlier take. Win out, and chances are something will open up.
  10. A win tomorrow is all it's going to take to make me torture myself with getting fired up and believing.
  11. Agreed, Logan. If he comes out of the gate with poor results and Texas is of a mind to clear him out, then pounce on it.
  12. [sarcasm]If only we'd known that that's all it was going to take to get a deal done...[/sarcasm]
  13. I have to agree with MadThink, I came here to say virtually the same. Barring injury or unforeseen transaction, the infield makes a ton of sense without Gennett in the mix. And I'm not bagging on Scooter. I do hope we find a trade partner for him soon, because I'm looking for but not finding a way to see how he makes Milwaukee a better team while on the roster, given the current list.
  14. Wow I would not have guessed he'd garner 1 year $11.5 after the stros cut him loose. Good for him, though. Way to go, Carlos.
  15. I agree with Reilly. And it won't break my heart one little bit when it blows up in their face.
  16. I have not had very good luck finding much, if any, scouting reports on the guys from the lower levels of the draft. Several of the pitchers taken in late 20s-30s rounds of 2016 put up interesting numbers in Arizona and Pioneer, fwiw. Enough to pique my interest in that segment of last year's class moving forward.
  17. No offense but don't you think that was a tad harsh? A lot of credit goes to Minnesota, they came in to Madison incredibly fired up to play.
  18. It was there all along.
  19. That would be a really annoying technicality. Not only do have to pay the guy, but you have to sacrifice a 40 man spot in order to have the insurance cough up their portion. Let me count the ways in which I'm thankful we did not re-sign The Prince.
  20. Neat to see we picked him up. Longshot, but neat to see an Alaska guy in the system.
  21. Here's how it went down. Keon was drowning his sorrows from the cubs winning the series, like the rest of us. Then some cub fan (they're crawling out of the woodwork, they're everywhere, even out here on Nunivak Island. google it.) spilled some of his Bartles & James on Keon's new clothes. Keon's shoes are full of Miller and Jack while Mr. Cub's got a pomegranate daquiri in his belly and a nose full of toot. Broxton told him what was up but with the sedate advantage, sucker punching a sot is like taking candy from a baby. On a different day it would have been a bloodbath. In all seriousness, I hope this is the last time I hear of an incident with Broxton. Looking for a nice 2017 from him.
  22. In August of 2011 I told my Dad that it really doesn't matter if we make the playoffs or not, because Roenicke would never be able to guide them to a pennant. It became crystal clear to me after this beauty: http://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/MIL/MIL201108020.shtml
  23. It really makes me wonder how these insurance policies work, and what the premiums are.
  24. Too much "Broseph" cub fan, too much "cute in a shirsey, couldn't name a player" cub fan. Also, I wanted to live my entire life without ever seeing the cubs or vikings be world champs. It is a dark day indeed.
  25. Watching them urinate away this lead on their field with Lester dealing would be enough to make me happy.
