  1. Wow what a trade that was for the Brewers!
  2. Add Jed Bradley to that list. All of that is extremely discomforting.
  3. And with the 1st overall pick of the 2018 MLB first-year player draft the Milwaukee Brewers select...
  4. You guys really don't think he'd jump ship for a winner? Wow he's more loyal than I thought. I love Braun, but if I'm in his shoes I realize I'm not getting any younger and jump at the chance to be an integral part of a championship ball club.... IF that opportunity presents itself.
  5. I think someone will become desperate enough for a big bat come the trade deadline.
  6. Him and Garza in ST what could go wrong?...
  7. We've already picked up Davies, Villar and Broxton for basically nothing. All of those guys have the potential to be very valuable players. Every team is built differently, but I like that Stearns is looking to add value to the franchise (all levels) in any means possible. If you keep doing this, you will find some guys who become very good MLB players. I agree 100%, but with that post I was alluding to trading a higher rated prospect from a position of depth for someone our F.O. really likes. For a completely hypothetical example. The Brewers have a ton of OF depth in the system right? So maybe we see Brett Phillips as expendable to a team that really likes him. The F.O. sees a P or 3B of equal value that has a ton of upside and we swap. I know that's easier said then done, but we're gonna run into a problem (albeit a good one to have) trying to fit everyone.
  8. We need to be savvy making deals as well. Stearns has been doing this by targeting prospects before they have a premium name, but the Rizzo move accelerated the Cubs rebuild ten fold. A lot of people forget about how the Cubs traded Andrew Cashner for Rizzo in basically a 1 for 1. Maybe if a scout of ours falls in love with a player we could do the same trading from a position of depth.
  9. Teams don't tank in baseball so throw that theory right out the window. It does not exist period. Buster Olney's witch hunt started this, but you could argue what Preller is doing resembles a "tank". He certainly isn't trying to win.
  10. We've had some bad timing with our draft's so far. Not really any top level elite talent that is head and shoulders above the rest. Don't get me wrong, I think Corey Ray will be decent, but he's far from can't miss. This 2017 draft class is dreadful IMO no one really sticks out as that elite, blue chip guy so we should be alright drafting 9th.
  11. There was a lot of turnover in the scouting department so I'm willing to give the new guys a shot. God knows the draft recently hasn't been pretty until Montgomery took the lead. I hate speaking ill of the dead, but Bruce Seid really screwed us over with constant misses. Who knows were we'd be in the rebuild had he not failed miserably at the one thing a small market has to win with. Dare I say we could get a franchise player from the Intl. market? It's rare for small markets, but I feel like we need to throw A LOT of money this year. The Braves did it and got a possible franchise bat in Maitan.
  12. Save money, more years of team control. Makes sense. R.I.P. Maldycannon although he wasn't that great I'm gonna miss him.
  13. not to pick on anyone, but this is why people are freaking out over the rule v draft, we are getting so used to instant knowledge that we cannot wait until April and see how the team looks and judge the offseason as a whole. We grade every trade within minutes. the brewers WILL sign some free agent relievers and I wouldn't be surprised to see a Scooter trade, maybe a Braun one too (less likely). lets reserve judgement until atleast pitchers and catchers report and see how they match up. 100% agree with you I'm an impatient son of a gun though.
  14. Sigh. This is a real blue balls off-season... I give it a C- so far. The only real bright spot is getting Dubon otherwise meh.
  15. How David Goforth, Brent Suter both have a roster spot is beyond me. I love Stearns but this was a complete mismanagement of the 40. [expletive deleted by moderator] disgusting seeing talent go for free.
  16. Braun is one of the premier bats available on the trade market right now. There will be interest.
  17. Someone nobody is talking about is Zack Clark. We took him in the 19th round, and the kid HAS tools. Maybe I'm biased because I love the power speed combo, but I feel like he has a chance to make some noise.
  18. If I'm the Brewers I blow my wad on the international signing period and draft bonus pool. Now is the time to do so more than ever.
  19. This really sucks... I thought they were gonna level the playing field at least a little bit. Now it looks like large markets are without question the ones that benefit the most from the new CBA.
  20. TBH with you I don't think that's even close to enough. Sure quantity is good, but even if Trout was on the last year of his contract he'd still command Arcia TO START + multiple blue chips. Honestly the LAA are fools to even consider dealing him he's a generational talent. To think we could have had him... Damn you Mark Teixieira!!!
  21. If he plays anything close to his ZiPS projection... Man that's a whole lot of surplus value. Low risk, good reward. Won't call it a genius move, but that LH power will play in our line up.
  22. Well that's about as good of a tank asset there is out there. Hint hint....
  23. I had hope for Jorge as a starter after his year in Biloxi, but I've always seen Lopez becoming a high-leverage reliever. I think he can be a fantastic contributor there and don't really want to deal him for Valencia, who is a good player, but also seems to be somewhat of a hassle in the clubhouse.
  24. I doubt it affects the PTBNL only because his checkered past HAD to be factored into the value of the original deal.
  25. Why JJ? WHY?! You could have killed someone by doing something so selfish. I'm just so disappointed right now. I pray he exercises his inner demons out because there obviously is still something there.
