  1. Add 2019 - Small, Kelly, and Bennett then a bunch of other later picks. Small and Kelly have very high floors. I really like Antoine Kelly, but based on all reports I've read, he isn't a high floor guy. Numbers in his first taste of pro ball seemed to show pretty solid control, though.
  2. I have always assumed that the Brewers have no chance at resigning Yelich, but the guy will be on the wrong side of 30 if he waits this thing out. There is absolutely some risk in doing that.
  3. Read on the twitter that his fastball was 85-89 in his last appearance, so no boost in velo at this point.
  4. “Significant” deal with the Giants... Dubon gone...
  5. This. Dubon would have to hit around .320 to be a good option as a leadoff hitter. I don’t think that’s happening.
  6. Why do people assume that the 3 batter minimum for pitchers limits strategy? I don't think it diminishes strategy at all. Shifts it maybe, but the same considerations still exist in these situations.
  7. One team winning a trade doesn't mean the other team lost. I think this could turn out to be a trade in which both teams end up winning. If Diaz becomes a borderline AS at 2b (I think he can be that), Yamamoto is a steady #3-4 SP going forward, and Harrison OR Brinson become everyday CF with at least passable offense (all of which I think are quite possible), it is hard to say that Marlins aren't better off. Christian Yelich in Miami wasn't Christian Yelich in Milwaukee. There's no guaranteeing that he would become what he is had he stayed there. And even if he had, he's far more valuable to a contending team like Milwaukee than a rebuilding franchise like Miami.
  8. Just because the top 2 players don't have offers from 27 plus clubs does not equate to collusion. While I definitely appreciate Josh's viewpoint on the subject and his insight into free agency that most, if not all, of us do not have, I think Nate's point is spot on. Why the top 2 players don't have offers from 27 teams, has nothing to do with collusion. It has everything to do with working inside the framework of a system that is fundamentally flawed and gives significant advantages to the largest of markets. Imagine the Brewers, Reds, Pirates, Marlins, Padres, Royals, Twins, Indians, A's or Rays signing Jason Heyward to the contract he signed. His relative non-performance compared to his contract would have crippled that team's efforts to remain competitive. The Cubs however can endure and still sign Darvish and Hamels to $20+ million contracts. Heyward's deal is a cautionary tale that small markets have learned a long time ago (*cough* Suppan *cough*) and big markets are finally learning the same lesson. Going a step further, why should the Yankees sign Manny Machado to a $35m a year contract when his 162 game average for his career is .282, 31 HR, 90 RBI and Miguel Andujar gave you .297, 27 HR, 92 RBI for the league minimum? Should the Nationals be thanking Harper for turning $30m per year down when his 162 game average is .279, 32 HR, 91 RBI and Juan Soto just gave you .292, 22 HR, 70 RBI at age 19 and for the league minimum? Front offices have gotten smarter. If the players decide to strike in a few years, well then good luck to you. You didn't learn your lessons from 1994. Fans will side with ownership. Maybe you don't care. But maybe you should look at the NFL's popularity, even with a dynasty in place, where a team whose home city has 100,000 is on equal financial ground with New York, Los Angeles and Chicago. I'd like the agent to address the bolded above specifically. Preferably without the condescension of most of his previous posts...
  9. So what bothers you?
  10. Does anyone think that Disabled List actually makes any sense? Why are people bothered by this?
  11. Death to the LOOGY? I can live with that. That’s essentially the point. Managers would definitely have to pick their spots with this guys. Or those guys would have to find a way to be not horrible at getting RH batters to make weaker contact.
  12. I’ve been a fan of eliminating 1 and done relief pitchers for a while. Make it 2 hitters even. I don’t understand arguments against it. If you aren’t capable of getting MLB hitters (from both sides of the plate) out at a respectable clip, maybe you aren’t an MLB pitcher. Nothing wrecks game flow more than a LOOGY coming in with one out in the 7th, throwing one or 2 pitches to a batter, and then the manager trotting out again for another delay after he gives up a hit or gets an out. I do like the idea that 1 batter may be allowed if it’s the 3rd out.
  13. Seems low. I cant say I know anything about the 19 guys ahead of him, though.
  14. Could see wind chills exceeding 60 below Wednesday morning in the LaX, Madison, Milwaukee areas. Yikes.
  15. It’s a mocking/laugh face. Like when a friend brags about being in Hawaii when it’s 20 below at home and you respond with a mocking laugh. It’s that face.
  16. Old people I got ya, bro. Good use.
  17. I bet they put a new sign up in its place.
  18. It's the 2nd naming of the stadium, as many people have indicated it will always be "Miller Park" to them so there is often a hit with the 2nd naming as the new name is often ignored. It's very likely after the next naming contract for the Bucks that they get a lot less than the initial naming rights... Ah, that makes some sense.
  19. I swear I read that Fiserv paid between 7-10 million a year for naming rights. Or at least that is what the Bucks wanted (which would put the final number well above 3 million, I would guess). Why would the Brewers get a number significantly less than that?
  20. Where did the $50 million number come from? I would bet it's significantly more than that for 15 years.
  21. Team gets more money from AmFam? Great. It's a name of a building.
