  1. Since 3B is going to be a platoon, I can’t see the logic in having both Robertson and Arcia being the righty options (Urias should likely start all the time) and not just keep one. Then sign Gyorko to platoon with Shaw and be a plan B in case Shaw sucks again. Arcia doesn’t hit lefties, or anyone, well anyway
  2. A lefty bat would make sense for the reasons you stated. I’ve been thinking that Brett Gardner would make sense for the right price.
  3. Highly unlikely... Both are RHH of platoons... Yes they traded away Snell but Rays are still going after it, they arent blowing everything up. Yes they are still useful as part of platoons but that doesn’t mean they wouldn’t trade them or are irreplaceable to TB. Snell was still part of the rotation and they still traded him. They surely would consider trading their 4th best 2B/3B for the right return
  4. The rays always fart out infielders so they still have extra. With Lowe and Wendle as 2B/3B starters, I wonder if Mike Brosseau or Yandy Diaz are available for a decent price
  5. This doesn’t really make sense without the DH and Vogelbach and McKinney already under control
  6. I'd cheer if that happened. Bring Gyorko back for 3B and I'd be thrilled. I'm just unsure if this team can pay those salaries given the financial restraints right now. Gyorko would be great to bring back, for a platoon. He doesn’t hit righties well and basically all his damage last year was done vs lefties. He’s make a great platoon mate with La Stella. Despite the cheapness likely coming, Justin Turner still has to be appealing. He’s only predicted 2/24 on MLBTR. That’s great value compared to Donaldson’s contract last year, and they’re pretty similar players
  7. I doubt there’s any way it would work for either side unless the DH comes back to the NL
  8. I'm guessing by seeing how he works with players and the suggestions he makes. You know... things fans rarely get to see. Too many variables in the results at the plate to directly point at the hitting coach, unfortunately. Thankfully, fans don't hire/fire the coaches anyway. Sure, but my point is that his suggestions and work clearly weren’t effective
  9. I guess if a hitting coach isn’t responsible for a ton of guys hitting so much worse than they have/were expected to, then how else can you judge if a hitting coach is helping guys or not?
  10. You’re saying you expected Yelich, Hiura, Narvaez, Holt, Sogard, Smoak, and Garcia to post far below their career norms for production? I'm saying for what I witnessed this summer, 89 seems like 120. It felt more like a 50 for most of the summer. It was pretty unwatchable
  11. You’re saying you expected Yelich, Hiura, Narvaez, Holt, Sogard, Smoak, and Garcia to post far below their career norms for production?
  12. They've openly talked about Urias playing 3rd base. I'd say bringing back Arcia would say less about how they feel about Urias and more about how they feel about any potential 3rd basemen they've got. If they go in with Urias AND Arcia as everyday starters next year, they aren’t even trying to win. I could see those 2 splitting SS and Urias being the RHB in a platoon with a 3B who can actually hit righties
  13. La Stella is getting way more than 3/10, and NOBODY equates lux/Andujar
  14. Narvaez switching to a slow pitch softball swing, even if just for 60 games, is very concerning
  15. They should lock Narvaez in a chair (with a new batting coach) and pry his eyelids open and make him watch his 2019 swing and how much better is was than his slow pitch softball swing of 2020
  16. I’ll assume 3 things as guesses: There’ll be a DH, Braun is retiring, and Attanasio won’t spend big Sign: Brett Anderson, CJ Cron, Tommy La Stella, Joc Peterson (shop Hader but I’ll predict they end up keeping him) Vs RHP: 3B-La Stella 2B-Hiura LF-Yelich 1B-Cron RF-joc CF-Cain DH-Vogelbach C-Narvaez SS-Arcia/Urias Vs LHP: CF-Cain 2B-Hiura LF-Yelich DH-Cron 1B-Gyorko RF-Garcia C-Pina SS-Arcia 3B-Urias Rotation: woodruff, Burnes, Anderson, Peralta, Lindblom (opener) Bullpen: Hader Williams Knebel Yardley Suter Lauer Houser Topa (Rasmussen is a SP in AAA)
  17. I’ve seen enough of Counsell becoming Ken Macha for some reason
  18. At least the cardinals are starting a lefty so the brewers can stack RHBs other than Yelich in the lineup
  19. I laughed way too hard at this for an adult man
  20. Wish they were giving Taylor more starts, but they are still leaning hard into the platoon matchups. At least Gyorko is seeing full time work finally. It’s ridiculous. They should start taylor over Yelich vs lefties if they now love platoons to the point of not actually looking at production. There’s no legit reason to start Peterson over Taylor
  21. I wonder if they’ll pick up his option or go with Tyrone Taylor at the 4th OF next year. I get the appeal of Taylor, but A LHB also makes sense to spell Garcia/Cain. And Yelich is an everyday life layer anyway
  22. With the RHP starters for Cincy, Brauns body wearing down, and Urias not producing much I’m glad they’re finally willing to play Vogelbach at 1B and optimize their lineup
