  1. unless there’s a trade or Cain surprisingly retires, he seems redundant with Taylor already providing a 4th OF
  2. It is true that Bonds and Clemens never tested positive, but what they did just completely denies natural logic. They were shattering records and winning awards in their late 30s or even early 40s! Plus, especially with Bonds, his whole body grew and his head became the size of a Charlie Brown character. Despite never testing “positive” there’s no way they weren’t juicing. That’s why I don’t mine HOF voters viewing them as for sure juicers. Now if they could vote in some of the other guys who do deserve it: Rolen, Helton, Wagner, Andruw Jones. They’re better than some of the vets committe pics
  3. Trade Josh Bell for Keston Huira. The nats should be looking for a controllable player and the Brewers need a middle of the order bat who could split 1B/DH with Tellez
  4. They need to stop retroactively adding tons of guys to the hall who aren’t good enough to be in there. Is Ellis Burks going in next? If guys like Harold Baines and Jim Kaaba get in then I guess why not?
  5. Assuming a DH in the NL is implemented, Josh Bell should be a top trade candidate in my opinion. There are multiple reasons for this: -The Nats aren’t going to contend for at least a year - he is a switch hitter to provide balance to the lineup - he won’t cost a ton $ or prospect-wise - good power and decent K rate make him what this lineup needs. The Nats could give Huira a chance at full time playing during a rebuilding season and a Huira/Bell swap makes a good basis for a trade to both teams
  6. But it isn’t an either/or thing. Cain’s age and health mean Taylor will get starts there. The likely DH, Yelich being a lefty, and Renfroe’s struggle vs righties will give Taylor corner OF starts too. With some likely injuries, there’s plenty of playing time to go around
  7. Milwaukee’s tailgate is weekly not daily but is very good
  8. This is a really good trade. I’m surprised no money is going to Boston. Affordable, controllable RF and righty power was desperately needed. Taylor is a great 4th OF, especially when the DH addition gives him more ABs. When they add the DH after the lockout, just sign a 1B like Rizzo and call it a day.
  9. Semien got “shortstop” $ but Filefa is definitely a better SS than him. It’ll be interesting to see if Semien gets SS or stays at 2B
  10. What in god’s name are the padres doing? This return is putrid. I bet 28 other gms wish they knew the price was this low
  11. Both posts in this thread show how important it is for the Brewers to get at least 1 (IMO 2) middle of the order hitters. Ketel Marte makes a ton of sense as a target for one of those hitters.
  12. My first thought to these 2 signings by the Mets (I liked Canha for the Brewers too) is to see just how much it would take to get JD Davis. He is a likely trade Candidate and would be a good mix to the 1B/DH, especially as a righty bat.
  13. I’d actually think Cain would be more likely to be moved to make room for Brockton than JBJ. Some teams could actually view Cain as starter-worthy in CF
  14. Feliciano was awful in AAA last year so he isn’t ready to take over in the bigs yet. Severino will be fine as hopefully a placeholder while Feliciano improves and shows he can split C with Narvaez
  15. Houser himself can help the bullpen. You'll trade 3 years of that for 1 year of it plus a backup catcher for 2years? How can this trade value simulater even work this as equal? Twins make this deal no matter what situation they are in. You save them over 6mil on payroll and give them a SP for 3years, a higher quality SP then the majority of SPs they have used in the 2000s. Why do we hate Houser? Is there something I'm missing? This why too many post his name as Hauser? Yes. Because trading a guy (from a surplus) must mean he’s hated. If you think Garver is just a backup C then you should take a look at his stats. He would literally be one of the best hitters on the Brewers and be the main DHz Just because he can also catch doesn’t mean he can only be a backup catcher. He’s not exactly Manny Pina.
  16. Mitch Garver and Taylor Rodgers for Hauser. It’s pretty even according to baseball trade values trade simulator. Garver and Narvaez could split C/DH so neither wear down. It definitely seems like Narvaez did last year. Garver can play 1B too. Plus Rogers would help the bullpen, especially if Hader is traded
  17. Absolutely. But his value would be greater to other teams because he is CF who could hit like a corner OF. With marte being the only quality FA CF, I would see Buxton as more valuable to a team in need of CF help that misses out on Marte and has to turn to the trad market if MN were to trade him
  18. I seriously don’t know who’d be more excited about that OF, Brewer pitchers or opposing pitchers To me, another defensive CF is not the best allocation of resources I think calling Buxton simply a "defensive CF" is seriously underestimating his offensive abilities. The guy was a legit MVP candidate last year before injuries got in the way, and was good in 2019 and 2020 as well. But that appears to be what you are going to get with him. A high-end offensive and defensive performer that you'll be lucky to get 100 games out of. Yeah I meant as someone who extracts a lot of his value from being able to play cf well. Pushing CFs to the corners (Cain and JBJ don’t hit like corner OFs). If JbJ and Cain weren’t stuck on the riser already, Buxton would make sense

  20. Langeliers only has 5 games at AAA, so he won't be ready to start the year in MLB. Contreras didn't really do anything to earn the starting gig in his 2021 look, so Manny gives them a proven commodity to bridge the gap. Free agent catchers are pretty ugly. Pipe dream would probably be to swing a deal for Garver from the Twins (150 wRC+ vs LHP over 260 PAs since 2019). Another trade option could be Pedro Severino from the Orioles (110 wRC+ vs LHP over 359 PAs since 2019) if the Brewers think they can fix his framing (MLB worst -21.9 runs since 2019) like they did with Omar. Darnaud is Atlanta’s starter anyway so I was just pondering if he was worth the 4 million for a slight upgrade but potential roadblock at backup catcher in Atlanta. I like the idea of Garver. MN has catching depth and Garver Narvaez could split C/DH with Narvaez to keep fresh
  21. I like Canha. He always seems to sneak onto my fantasy team at some point, seems very undervalued for what he brings to the table. He's got quite a bit of time at all the outfield spots, but also has played a bit at first base. He'd be a great guy to grab early in the offseason so Stearns/Arnold have some extra positional flexibility in their annual late offseason bargain grabs. I don't understand the fascinatiion with Canha. What does he offer that Taylor doesn't? Canah in 625 PAs: 17 HRs - 61 RBIs - .231/.746 OPS. Taylor in 271 PAs: 12 HRs - 43 RBIs - .247/.778 OPS..Canha will cost approx. $8M where Taylor is still at minimum. I'd rather Stearns use the $8M and go after a difference maker. I don’t understand why signing another player (even an OF) means Taylor wouldn’t also play. JBJ Sucked, Cain is old and injury prone, Chana for example can play 1B, and most importantly there will likely be a DH next year. Why can’t both Canha and Taylor play? There’s plenty of time to go around.
  22. I don’t get why the Braves did this with Contreras already in the bigs and Shea Langeliers at AAA. I don’t see feliciano being in the bigs right away so they’ll have to find a Robinson Chirinos-type placeholder for a platoon
  23. I don't see Canha (2020-2021) being any better than Taylor at this point in his career. He doesn't have the power nor drive in enough runs to be a difference maker that would help the Brewers any more than Taylor. If the Brewers were not stuck with Bradley, he might be a nice pickup. Without a proven 1B, JBJs pathetic offense last year, Cain’s health, and with a likely DH, Canha/Taylor isn’t an either/or Choice
  24. An Olson trade would definitely hurt the system, but Tuarang might be appealing since they don’t have a long term 2B option in place. It would obviously cost a lot more, but Olson would be too perfect of a fit
  25. We had some mashers back in the day, with guys like Sexson, Burnitz, and Jenkins. We didn't win many games, but they hit a lot of homers. I prefer watching our current "all around players" win 90+ games and make the playoffs every year, but to each their own. You seem to be ignoring the slight difference in quality of pitching in your comparison of today’s team to the teams of back then
