  1. 1 word-defense
  2. I’m pretty sure Yelich would move to LF, not García
  3. We were very fortunate last season that a discarded SP by the Pirates, pitched like an Ace for us down the stretch for us to get the wildcard. It would be wiser to get the Ace at the start of the season as he could help us win the divison. I agree. But they said they lost money last season. And whether that is true or some kind of accounting gimmick, it seems to be affecting how they're building this roster. I think they can't/won't sign a top starter, and it doesn't make sense to have a great pitcher on a poor team, so I think they're going to wait until the trade deadline to see if they're competitive, and who is available in trade. That way, they can have a top end starter for the most important games of the year, and only be stuck with paying the high salary for August & September. Just my guess. I don’t see them winning hear would be a bidding war for a top starting pitcher traded at the deadline. Not with this current farm system
  4. That actually looks pretty close for all teams.
  5. Better off just bringing back Thames for cheaper and possibly more production. I don’t see SF trying to sell off bad contracts because they just took on Zac Cozart to “buy” an angels prospect
  6. That legit made me LOL. He puts the team on his back!
  7. Don't understand why they'd be looking at Calhoun and not Corey Dickerson. Dickerson had some nice power years with the Rays, hits for a decent average, and has a good OBP. I'm one that is a Dickerson fan, but I'm assuming 2 things: 1. Defense appears to be a big negative. Calhoun is just an average/below average defender. I think he has a great arm. 2. I'm assuming like the "1 year for Didi could be a sneaky move," other teams are in on the "Dickerson is an undervalued asset" and then he'll end up getting that Gausman contract. Calhoun is more under the radar. I'm assuming we're also in on Dickerson but maybe we will once again lose the bidding. Kalhoun is a RF and Dickersons a LF and moving Yelich back to LF when Brain isn’t there might have Stearns leaning towards Kalhoun because Yelich is better in LF
  8. Because, as everyone who is interested in this has pointed out, the Yankees would have to send money and/or additional talent to be worthwhile
  9. If he is lights out, why would it be bad to have him another season? It’s not like there are top arms coming up in the farm system
  10. Nah, I get the point. I am just really not much of a fan of such a move when we are in the midst of competing. Unless we are getting a future All Star type player I am just not really a fan. I don't care to grab solid, but not great prospects when it is a huge negative on the current team. The odds those players are worth it someday so much so it was worth wasting a ton of money while competing is unlikely. Of course if we don't waste $17mil or double that on Happ, what are we doing with it? Is it going to be put to use on the team or not. That obviously makes a difference. There are so many moving parts to an idea like this it is hard to judge without a real proposal. Maybe they are taking on the salary and then flipping the prospects...I mean who knows. It doesn’t have to be prospects though. Andujar, Ford, tauchman, or Frazier would all be helpful the the brewers this year. I agree they don’t need to “buy” prospects at this point
  11. Give up Frazier and andujar along with happ and take all happs salary. New York wouldn’t need too much in return. They could start with Arcia since I don’t think they have a good utility option
  12. I wouldn’t mind having him, but his value lies in being able to play SS, which the brewers no longer need. I guess there aren’t many competitive teams looking for SS help other than cincy, but I see him getting more than his production would be worth as a 3B
  13. Agreed. It’s silly to retire a good players number just because he played here at all. Only 3 of Simmons’ 5 years were even good in Milwaukee. In wouldn’t have retire Aaron or fingers either. Just Molitor, Yount, and eventually Braun. Are we gonna went to retire Hoffman’s number next?
  14. Can we get Rymer Liriano again, too? That was one idiotic pair of OF acquisitions I don't look back on fondly... I'm sure you meant Wilmer Flores, but I couldn't resist responding. In my original post he responded to I recommended a Ramon Flores/Brock holt platoon. I definitely meant Wilmer Flores. In the HOF thread I did the same thing when I said Tom Raines should be in the HOF and I meant Harold baines.
  15. I don’t understand the interest in Didi. Signing brock holt and Ramon Flores to platoon at 3B would be amidst as productive and be much cheaper while adding versatility and quality to the bench
  16. With Narvaez and Pina, the perfect 26th man is a catcher I believe. Pina can sub for Narvaez defensively and Narvaez can pinch hit.
  17. Just to clarify from above, I totally meant Harold baines. Tim Raines deserves to get it
  18. I find age to be a strange reason to go Ryu over Keuchel Fair enough. How about the reason that Ryu has just been much better than Kuechel the last couple years? Now that I can agree with. I actually wanted Keuchel in offseason plan thread. But then once the brewers not tendered don’t many players, I said they should get Ryu instead
  19. Dwight Evans and Lou Whitaker should’ve also gotten in. And I’m not even a big hall guy. Raines and Jim rice and others shouldn’t have gotten in.
  20. I find age to be a strange reason to go Ryu over Keuchel
  21. I’m surprised Arizona didn’t pick up his option. I wanted Howie Kendrick , but Flores is similar to him. I’d sign him and Brock holt to split 3B as well as provide versatility. Assuming more money is spent on a big OF bat and pitching
  22. Definitely a trade. I feel like there will be a trade and a signing, but I do think a trade is going to happen in the next week. They’re getting to the point, in terms of lack of trade assets and plenty of $, that they’d be better off utilizing free agency to try and keep what few decent prospects they have. Plus there Are options currently at all positions of need on the market right now
  23. For pretty cheap too. I get he’s rather go back to the Nats but I’d think the brewers would offer 8 million or so
  24. Probably just a pet peeve here but there have been all kinds of just awful starting players on playoff teams. You can have a weak position and still make the playoffs. We had Yuni B start 11 playoff games for us and he was a below replacement level player and much worse than Castro. Sure but I don’t think you go into a season in which you have other free agent options and money available and come out with Starlin Castro if you’re serious about competing for the playoffs. But you’re right there are some weak spots on playoff teams. I think a lot of those come from in-season injuries though
  25. He’d make sense if they kept Shaw and needed a Righty complement, but Castro is not a starting 3B on a playoff team
