  1. Like Hoffman, Wood is probably worth pursuing.
  2. Probably should have gone to Halladay, but it least KRod didn't win it.
  3. Oh, would I love to see Marmol closing for the Cubs.
  4. Oh well. This was certainly predictable. Hopefully it happens quickly so the Brewers can move on.
  5. Not to mention his 1.0 WHIP. The home runs could just be a fluke for all we know. Hits, walks, Ks were all good.
  6. Yeah Lincecum and Santana were definitely the top two. I could see either one getting it--no problem with Lincecum. There have definitely been much worse decisions with this award.
  7. Oakland may end up trading Holliday if they have a poor record, but they definitely wouldn't have traded for him if they didn't plan on keeping him for the entire season. Brian is right when he says Beane likes his comp picks as well.
  8. I'm not really interested in Jackson at all. He hasn't been any better than a bunch of the guys who were pitching in the 4/5/6 spots for the Brewers last season.
  9. That's not true at all. Ben's starts after CC's arrival: 6 innings 3 earned runs 5 innings 2 earned runs 7 innings 2 earned runs 5 1/3 innings 6 earned runs 6 innings 2 earned runs 9 innings 0 earned runs 6 2/3 3 earned runs 6 innings 5 earned runs 5 innings 2 earned runs 9 innings 0 earned runs 6 innings 5 earned runs 2 innings 1 earned run 2 1/3 innings 3 earned runs I count three poor outings in there and five poor outings if you include his last two starts of the season. Definitely does not mean "most of his starts." It also wasn't "all of a sudden" after CC arrived, as Ben had two decent outings and one good one before a bad start after CC joined the Brewers. I know simply looking at innings and earned runs isn't the best way, but his numbers after CC joined the team were 3.54 ERA, 61 Ks, 21 BBs, 1.2 WHIP. Certainly he was still a well above average starting pitcher during that time.
  10. I can't imagine the Giants giving out another huge long-term contract to a pitcher after the Zito debacle.
  11. Ennder you kept pointing out throughout the year that the Cubs had numerous players having career years. Now you're just assuming they'll take the division easily again?
  12. So you're just ignoring his proof that strikeouts are largely irrelevant?
  13. There's a good discussion in the Major League Thread for Cameron's option being picked up. Here are some things posted there by logan. The 5 teams best at not striking out were ranked(in order) 26, 21, 4, 12, and 15 in runs scored. http://spreadsheets.googl...y=pKN8HdBGjC9KXhXzXw1moIA
  14. Certainly not batting average and strikeout numbers, which don't correlate to winning or losing? More like on-base percentage and slugging percentage, which do.
  15. I'm definitely not a fan of a six year deal. I guess that rumor that the Brewers would be willing to offer more per year to get a shorter contract had no merit.
  16. I loved Dwight in the car screaming over the loud music.
  17. Crawford really regressed this year. His average fell and his normally low walk rate stayed the same, so his numbers fell way off. I wouldn't really want him leading off and would prefer to see if Hart rebounds after a couple bad months.
  18. Yeah, what the heck could the Cubs trade? Samardzija, Vitters maybe? I don't see how they could ever land Peavy??
  19. Good point ennder on the Yankees defense. I didn't even think about it but you're right; they're bad.
  20. Wang is definitely better than ok. He's been above league-average every year of his career. A number two starter at worst. Only thing is he is a big time ground ball pitcher, which is not a good mix with the Brewers' bad infield defense. And the 4/5 starters comment, I don't even know how many 4/5 starters the Brewers have. I think Suppan, Villanueva (if he's starting), McClung are worse than 4/5 guys.
  21. Wow I had no idea Guthrie is 29. Strange that he didn't break into the majors regularly until age 28. The fact that he'll be 30 makes him less attractive IMO... Wouldn't trade Prince, Hardy etc for him I don't think.
  22. Baltimore would have to be incredibly stupid to trade Markakis. He's a great player. I'd probably trade any one player on the Brewers to get him.
  23. Yes they'd need to get something better for Cameron. Cabrera as a centerpiece is just bad--he's never been a good hitter in the majors or minors.
  24. Eh good for her. She was pretty good at her job... Definitely the best FSN has had.
  25. Vazquez is a better starter than all of those, save for maybe Bush. The Brewers wouldn't have to give up much in terms of players to get him, and he's only under contract for two years. I think he'd be a great way to replace Sabathia/Sheets without giving up big time talent. Gallardo Parra Vazquez Bush Suppan McClung Villanueva That's certainly not what they had last year, but it's a solid rotation. It also leaves room to improve the team in other areas.
