  1. I haven't seen where Hart is receiving any love that Braun isn't. I've been moderately disappointed with both this season, considering what I was expecting/hoping for.
  2. Sheets also had a stretch in 2005 where he had three consecutive 9-inning starts. Two of the three were complete games; one game went into extras and Matt Wise closed it out in the tenth.
  3. Some awesome pitching matchups this series. Anything more than one win would be great. Let's not get swept.
  4. At least Lue's deal ended up only being for one year. Bucks also signed Malik Allen for two years. Neither are overly exciting, but Allen is solid enough. I'm still waiting for the Mo trade.
  5. Pena is 25, so he's not that young.
  6. I know endaround pointed this out at some point, but I don't see Hardy moving willingly. He'd cost himself millions long-term by not sticking at shortstop.
  7. Yeah, no idea how Mota keeps his job over Stetter. Well I guess I do (money) but it's still frustrating.
  8. Sheets C for effort?? Also I'm of the opinion that Mike Cameron is the best defensive center fielder I've seen the Brewers have. He's made a few boneheaded plays, but his range is tremendous.
  9. I never knew George Sherrill was immune to pressure. That's really something.
  10. Twobrewers, I'm sure some of the players I mentioned aren't available, but teams are looking for offense. Arizona, San Francisco, Toronto and Kansas City definitely come to mind. I think those teams match up well with the Brewers.
  11. 5 years 100 mil won't get Sabathia signed. I imagine he'll get six years, and it probably will be for more than 20 mil per.
  12. I'm talkin 'bout together now! http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  13. Maybe I'll be there to shake your hand Maybe I'll be there to share the land That they'll be giving away When we all live together.
  14. Agreed, but how do you find that happy medium of "abused enough to keep bullpen scrubs out of the game but not enough to injure them?" Plus I still think the Brewers might want to re-sign Sheets, so that's probably a factor too.
  15. I should have said I prefer pitchers with three or more years, but if it's for two years I'd like them to be younger than Halladay. It was reported that the Brewers' plan B if they couldn't land Sabathia was Zach Greinke, and my reaction was, 'why wasn't he plan A?' Some of these don't match up 1 on 1 (i.e. the Brewers would give up more than Prince, or they'd need more back in return for Prince) but here are some names off the top of my head : Matt Cain, James Shields, Zach Greinke, Chad Billingsley, Shawn Marcum, Dustin McGowan, Ervin Santana, Joe Saunders, Jered Weaver, Jeremy Guthrie, John Danks, Jon Lester, Ubaldo Jimenez, John Maine, Jo-Jo Reyes. Plus, who knows whether top prospects like Clay Bucholz, Max Scherzer or Clayton Kershaw would be available in a Fielder deal.
  16. I generally agree with most of the grading, so probably no point in posting the same thing. I will say that I don't think there is one player in the lineup who offensively is performing above expectations, and there are only a couple who are *meeting* expectations. I'm surprised their record is as good as it is, and I agree with logan that the team is greater than the sum of its parts. My biggest disappointment is Weeks, just because my hopes for him this season were sky high. I look dumb after telling people he'd be an All-Star. Luck has a little bit to do with it, but he's not driving the ball enough.
  17. This is really a tough situation. I hate the idea of trading Weeks right now because his trade value is at an all-time low. People were discussing a Weeks-Roberts trade at the beginning of the season, and most felt Weeks had more value. Now you'd have to give up more than Weeks for Roberts. I'd hate to give up on a talent like Weeks because a half-season of a low batting average made us panic in a pennant race.
  18. Who's saying the Brewers can't afford him? They're just arguing he'd be better utilized to bring back a pitcher. Also I imagine Greinke and Fielder will have comparable salaries next season, so I don't even see how salary would be an issue. Finally, Hardy has only had one great month if you don't count April of '07, May of '07 and September of '05.
  19. This is an interesting topic. While Halladay is great, I don't think I'd do a Fielder swap for him straight up. He'll be 32 and 33 in his two years remaining on his contract. If the Brewers trade Prince I'd prefer to get someone younger who they can control for three or more years.
  20. Suburban Rhythm? Why did Ed and Scott quit?
  21. Not to mention, the Cubs' hitters went 0-4 with a walk. How that team's record is as good as it is is beyond me.
  22. The most durable of durable, Aaron Harang, is feeling the consequences of a ton of innings over the past three years. I was mainly cautious about Sheets because he hasn't thrown 200 innings in a few years and has obviously had issues staying healthy, so I'm worried about him for the remainder of this season. CC is a much smaller concern in the short term, but in the long-term, I'd be concerned signing him to a huge money deal with the innings he's gotten the last couple seasons.
  23. I agree that most of these guys would only be marginal improvements if any. I know there's a different thread for him, but I'd like to target Damaso Marte.
  24. I see your point Brew Guzzler, but I guess it's how you choose to look at it. I see the trade as a move to try to win a world series. They got Sheets-Sabathia for not only a playoff push, but to match up well with any team in a playoff series. Lose one of Sheets/Sabathia and that edge is out the window.
