I think technically he'll be suspended before being fired. Apparently there's something in the contract that will keep it from happening during the season. But yeah, he's done.

I don't really think they're going to "rip him apart." They'll probably just find similar players at his age and experience and point to those arbitration figures, and also point out that he wasn't great outside of the first couple months last year. Probably also that he hasn't had great numbers his previous couple seasons. I can't imagine it will get too ugly. And who knows. It still could end up settled at the last minute like Ohka.

I think end is right on in that it could be similar to Oswalt. He definitely took a hometown discount. He also got it worked out during the season. In Sheets' case, extending him during the season would be a bit of a gamble since he hasn't thrown 200 innings in a few years. My main concern with him isn't so much whether he stays healthy all year (he hasn't had any serious injuries that caused him to miss time), but whether his numbers remain stellar. He was down just a bit last year from previous years. If he pitches to the All-Star Break with traditional Sheets-like k/bb rates and such, I'd definitely make a move to get a deal done during the year.

Eh. Not a lot, but a handful anyway. I was in Phoenix in August. I was looking forward to seeing the "105 degree heat that doesn't even make you sweat!" I have no idea what anybody was talking about, because that's the hottest I've ever felt in my life. It was brutal.

You really can't beat summer in Wisconsin. I get irritated when people say that there's nothing to do in Milwaukee. It has to be one of the best cities in America to spend a summer.

I think the Brewers can reach 90 wins and I don't really consider myself optimistic. It's realistic enough.
