  1. Yep. If the Brewers took a decent amount of walks they'd have had a top-two offense in the NL. For all the power they had, finishing fifth in runs scored was actually pretty poor.
  2. People realized it gives up outs and crushes a chance at a big inning?
  3. Five assists, zero turnovers for Krabbenhoft. Prototypical Bo Ryan player.
  4. That's just not true, and it isn't even close.
  5. A 23 year old catcher who can put up a .900 OPS is insanely valuable.
  6. No way Gallardo can be included. The Brewers' rotation would be brutal.
  7. Wow, that would be huge. It would give the Brewers a good bullpen (although Boyer is just coming off shoulder surgery) and bring in two new outfielders? Crazy. They would still need to do something to acquire a starter though, because the rotation would be pretty weak. I still have a hard time believing the Brewers would trade Sheets without getting any MLB starting pitching back. I'd rather put Kelly Johnson at third instead of the outfield though. And I wonder what would happen if Melvin just stood pat for McCann? Probably nothing. Heh.
  8. I'm pretty sure you can give up a redshirt at any time. Man, Trevon has sure had the sweet pepper and egg sandwich working lately.
  9. Ha ha. I am trying to find the analogy. Maybe sweet pepper and egg sandwich is the name of Trevon's crossover move?
  10. Sweet. It took me three tries to get to 40. I'll take it. This is what I'm doing at 2:33 in the morning. At least it's for a good cause...
  11. Like you said, posters point out when a proposed trade would never be accepted. What is the point of an entirely new post about it? I don't really see what it accomplishes.
  12. No. It's real. Sorry to bump this back up to the top again after its moment had passed, but I just saw this now and had to comment. I cannot believe that is a real quote. This simple fact made my entire day. I was sure that was made up by some Cubs fan. Ha!
  13. It just makes too much sense to move Braun. The risk of keeping him at third far outweighs the reward. He's never going to be a good third baseman, and it's very unlikely he'll ever even be mediocre. Silver speculates that his defense takes away seventy-five percent of his offensive value!!! No one move would go further towards improving team defense than moving Braun away from third base. Like others have said... The Brewers aren't in rebuilding mode anymore.
  14. What will happen when the best comeback team ever faces the hottest team in baseball history?!?
  15. From interviews and various reports, it seems pretty clear he isn't 19. I guess I don't really see the big deal if he is 22. It's not like that would be solely responsible for him not becoming a good player.
  16. Just to be sure... That striped bass fishing quote is a fake quote, correct?
  17. I love it.
  18. Clara. I like it. Congrats Russ.
  19. Have to disagree with the idea that it would take Gallardo+solid prospects to get Francouer. I would be furious if they gave up Gallardo for a corner outfielder who put up a .338/.444/.782 line.
  20. I must say that is a beautiful head of hair on the Manyan. Color me surprised.
  21. Yeah I believe endaround posted that the other day. Good stuff.
  22. Sure the bullpen needs work, but to me the bullpen's struggles were caused by two things more than the actual relief pitchers themselves. One was Yost burning out Turnbow and Wise by July, the other was starters not going deep into games as much as they needed to (thank you, Claudio Vargas).
  23. Well then here's zone rating to consider: Braun: .697 (again, by far the worst among MLB third basemen- and yes, worse than Miggy Cabrera) Hardy: .797 (20th out of 24 shortstops who qualified) Weeks: .737 (Dead last among MLB second basemen) Fielder: .813 (17th among 21 first basemen who qualified) Edit: I know zone rating and range factor each have their fair share of flaws, but when you're entire infield ranks at the bottom in both it's never a good sign.
  24. Except those guys (Freddy Sanchez, Placido Polanco) aren't really what I have in mind. I want a guy who can work the count and draw a lot of walks. Sanchez has a decent OBP but that's only because of his batting average, which is a pretty empty .300+. Those guys are free swingers who happened to have pretty good batting averages this year. I'd prefer a player like Gross to someone like that. Someone like Austin Kearns, Kevin Millar, Dan Johnson, Gregg Zaun, Casy Kotchman, Ryan Church, Conor Jackson, etc. Now some of these players wouldn't fit with the Brewers (some only play first), but you get the idea. They're nice players, but you could probably find one somewhere who isn't too difficult to get.
