  1. He does hit enough, but he's not flashy, nor does he play CF.
  2. Shut up and I hate you are unacceptable, and our son would lose privileges. Take away his outdoor playing or Wii...that will quickly wise the little fella up. Yelling and screaming is not tolerated in our house either. No exceptions. As soon as he realizes who is in charge, and his fun things are a result of his behavior, the behavior will improve.
  3. Probably closer than most, as it involves solid young players. I doubt if LAA has an interest in Hall, and I doubt a prospect is needed. Willits has little trade value after this season, though I still like him.
  4. Injury prone and a nut...nope.
  5. Yep, Pena is an excellent example. Heck, anyone who throws 90+ is a good example, as few of those can be found on the waiver wire or as minor league FA's. Pena's not very good for a 40 man spot, but would be highly sought after as a FA.
  6. Why are they called "host families". Sounds like what a booster club does.
  7. Aviles is a weak SS though. They do not want him to stay at SS, so I doubt a 2B would interest them. Hall's offensive numbers do not look that bad as a SS, though his salary could scare KC away.
  8. Sarfate sucked in AAA, but had a good arm. Those are the guys you look around for.
  9. Teatoe, give the TRats a call, I know they honor their host parents at the last game of the year, as the players always give a rose to their mostly older ladies hosts.
  10. We might look back at the Dow at 8500 in a few months and giggle "if only I had bought in then". I did not see what it did today, but Integrys was at 42 after Friday, and it used to bounce between 50 and 55...since there profits are all but guaranteed due to their rates beiong approved by the state...that seemed ridiculously low. Others did too, obviously.
  11. Agreed on Swisher. I doubt there's a match up, but I'd love to see him in CF through '11. I would guess it would take Bush or Villy. Maybe there's a way to expand it to include Vazquez...
  12. I'd say the Royals are 15 wins or so from contention, and that's a lot. The Twins young pitching isn't going anywhere either.
  13. At 23, even as a low ceiling, that's an odd cut.
  14. This might be another reason the Crew left WV...if host families were not assigned on the first day hotels were not available, the booster club sucks at this. Appleton hosts meet their players and vice versa at the preseason banquet/get together.
  15. I may be exaggerating it a bit, but I sure see a lot more references to him as a starter. As for Lucroy, I was just passing on what I had heard, though BA pretty much agreed with it too. I don't usually judge a player much until they reach AA.
  16. Ben, you're arguing a lost cause...ask my sister, the English teacher. She corrects stuff like that all the time, and the students are clueless. It's like folks that say "bring" instead of "take", they have no idea.
  17. Weeks is correct, the labor and transport makes up much of the price of gas...and of course, to be exact, oil is not gas, so the price of oil is not a direct correlation.
  18. I have heard pawn shops often have good, clean guns for about 75% of retail, but of course, that's hit and miss...no pun intended.
  19. I was going by career stats, as I nearly always do. That said, Cameron being past his prime may put their OBP about even. Trwi said it well though, I don't see Crisp's lower SLG helping to score more runs, regardless of what side he hits from.
  20. Colby, welcome to the Gillespie is a reserve/platoon guy bandwagon. It's been lonely for me.http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif As you say though, developing bench guys is great, as they're far cheaper than bringing in Kaplers and Counsells.
  21. Runs prevented count just as much as runs scored. And rarely do 90 win teams start looking 2 years down the line. I don't see it with the Brewers either.
  22. Rumor has it China has not bought a drop of oil since the Olympics ended...shortages are already apparent, and many think rationing will be installed soon. I would guess that barring a terrorist attack, it'll be under 3 for much of the winter.
  23. What better options are there? Also, Lowell was injured much of the year, that may have affected his numbers.
  24. 28 runs is a lot to make up elsewhere, even if you give someone 5-10 for defense, which seems unlikely anyway, even if Doug M would take over. Thus far, I haven't seen a single trade that would result in a positive runs for/against projection...they seem to be all be afraid of injury, regression, or both. Considering Fielder is still young and relatively cheap, and able to go year-to-year for 3 more seasons, making the team weaker seems like a strange option. Personally, you got a 24 year-old power hitter that's done things no one has ever done...I'm sure in no hurry to move him, especially for anything except top young players/prospects.
  25. The Royals are setting themselves up for failure, as they already love to sign mediocre free agents and now are "tired of rebuilding"? They do not project to be much more than a .500 club. They have some very nice young players, but if they "reach" and try to find 90 victories in '08, they may well go the wrong way...just like what happened a few years ago, when they overachieved and dropped down for half a decade.
